"A memorable week for all the right reasons."
Thank you Everything thought of, even a knife sharpener - so many cottages have the bluntest of knives as no one ever sharpens or has the means to sharpen but a cottage that includes a knife sharpener (and a good one at that) indicates that even the smallest details are cared for.

"We had a wonderful week at Glan y Don."
It was very clean and comfortable. The cottage is in a great position, handy for beaches and town.

"We stayed at Glan y Don as a party of 6: 2 grandparents, 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren."
The beds were comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of equipment (apart, strangely, from a pair of scissors!) The position of the (private) garden is a little awkward. The information on the property makes it clear that the garden is across the street from the cottage. We had children with us aged 8 and 5 and so we knew in advance that, to be safe, we would have to escort the children across whenever we used the garden. There are steps from the garden down to the river estuary at a point where there are some rather slippery rocks. We preferred to walk along the road a little way to use the public walkway to a sandy beach beyond the mouth of the river. (The main sandy beach is a 15 minute walk away down a road opposite to the Spar.) As the information says, there is only space in the drive for one car. We had two cars for our party and so we parked one of the cars in the car park spaces on the road. At this point the time limit is 3 hours during the 9 am to 6 pm period. Thus if you park the 'spare' car on the road all day and are unlucky you will get a parking ticket. Overall, a comfortable cottage, convenient for the restaurants and shops in the centre of the village.

"We have stayed in this cottage twice now and we love everything about it."
The location, parking and the rooms are a perfect size with lots of storage. The beds are comfy and the kitchen has everything you would need. The oven did break but a quick msg to the owner and the repair man came the next day and fixed it. The only downside is only 1 shower as the main bathroom just has a bath. But this wouldn't stop us rebooking again with 6 people staying.

"We absolutely loved it."
Spacious with everything you need. Spacious bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and cosy living room. Garden across the road is heaven on a sunny evening and feels like a secret garden! Perfect week!!!

"After a lovely holiday staying in the cottage we were sad to leave."
The cottage had everything we needed and was close to all amenities we will definitely be returning in the future

"Wonderful location and property with lovely views from upstairs bedroom and garden."
Some issues though inside. The lounge seating was uncomfortable due to wear even lined with the numerous cushions and blankets. The king size bed had been made up by stuffing a king size quilt in a double quilt cover, we had to use remove it and use the cover as a sheet under it! The fan in the oven is periodically very noisy and one of the kitchen chair backs is very loose (a problem if 6 staying but beware). Parking is tight especially for larger cars, we didn’t move ours once parked. I couldn’t get warm water from the shower unless water was at a trickle- could have been down to me but no instructions to check. However, lovely large cottage which was clean and we would return in future if seating was updated.

"Cottage in a lovely location, very close to the beach and external facilities."
It was a shame that towels were not included - was not obvious on the listing, was just mentioned on an email. Also a shame to have no additional “home comforts” in the cottage - for example, no tea and coffee (but empty display jars) and no salt and pepper (but empty grinders in the cupboard). Some of the appliances were also a bit antiquated - toaster wouldn’t toast bread/muffins, just dried them out, and oven/grill a bit temperamental. Overall, the place is in a perfect location for a break and it suited our needs for a base for The Roc Wales. Could do with an overall spruce up and modernising, and a few additional amenities wouldn’t go amiss.

"A lovely property in a super location."
The family loved it despite the less than perfect weather.
-
"Enviable coastal location with fine views ."
Nicely managed by the owners . Within the town with plentiful eateries and restaurants, the property has one allocated parking space. Small lawned picnic area across the road from the house , right above the cliff overlooking the sands of the bay. Perfect for a family break . I would recommend to friends and family.

"This is a lovely cottage in an idyllic location, with sea views from a number of rooms, with the beach and best shops in Abersoch within a 5-minute stroll."
The cottage itself is well arranged, with good-sized rooms and pleasant, simple furnishings. We especially appreciated the well-appointed kitchen with plenty of cooking implements, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery, and very comfy beds. The Welsh cakes and biscuits which greeted our arrival were also a lovely touch. All in all, a first class experience... we hope to be back next year!

"We had an amazing time, the cottage is lovely with plenty of room for 6 people."
It is in a fantastic place right in the middle of Abersoch, with breath taking views! And the WiFi connection is great.....we needed it having teenagers with us. The only down side was the noise from the house renovation behind the cottage early morning we weren't prewarned.
-
"From the outside the cottage looks well maintained and inviting."
The location is fantastic with wonderful views. Inside the cottage needs updating the place needs cleaning the kettle did not come to boiling point for drinks the shower was blocked and did not drain after use ,so this made it very hard for 6 adults to get ready in the morning for a wedding we were attending. Luckily the weather was fabulous so that we didn't have to spend anymore time than was necessary inside.

"Wonderful cottage in a fabulous location."

"Excellent location"

"Fabulous property in a prime location."
Warm, comfortable, very well equipped and with spacious rooms. Extremely convenient for Abersoch facilities yet was silent at night. Excellent views from the upstairs windows across the harbour. Thank you Ffion for another wonderful family holiday on the Llyn.

"The side of the cottage had a beautiful sun trap space where a rather old, large green picnic table & chairs were sited ( brilliant to use with the excellent BBQ ) but unfortunately on arrival one leg of the table was wonky!"
so unusuable & the whole set needs replacing . The front garden space across the road was a really pleasant area with beautiful views of the coast.

"Fantastic location, very well equipped cottage"

"This is a super property but what really sets it apart is the quality of service from the owners."
Cleanliness in a COVID world was 100%. An unavoidable problem with the TV was sorted out and a new TV arrived within 24 hours despite me saying that it wasn't a problem. A really fabulous base.

"We stayed at this property 5years ago so knew what to expect."
We were slightly disappointed the soft furnishings/sofas/chairs and mattresses hadn’t been updated though. The cottage feels dark and sometimes damp, but the heating is efficient. It was a shame there wasn’t Wi-Fi as that would of help when researching the internet for walk routes etc.

"The pictures of the garden leading to the beach were a little misleading - it didn’t make it clear that the garden was over the road -and the few small steps shown on the picture we’re steps within the garden and the actual steps down to the beach were steep and overgrown."
The bit of beach they led to also wasn’t really the beach as it was rocky and cut off from ge beach by the tide. I suspect this is different at different times of year - but such a feature is made of the way that the beach is on the garden that I think that this should also be made clear. The house itself was nice. The kitchen was well equipped. It would have been nice to have a guest info book - don’t think I have eve stayed anywhere without one before!

"We loved staying in Glan Y Don."
The beach is really near and very safe for children. The shops are just a stroll away.
-
"Could have done with an hairdryer."
WiFi would have been a help other than that everything was fantastic.
-
"A wonderful few days in this gorgeous traditional holiday cottage, perfectly situated a minutes walk from the shops and cafes of Abersoch, with far reaching views of the bay from the front bedrooms."
The only improvements I could suggest would be the addition of Wifi, although I imagine some people would not mind getting away from that for a change, and also a good heavy trim of the hedges in the garden, to reveal the lovely view obscured behind them.
-
"Very accurate details of holiday cottage."
Excellent communication from booking to arriving at the cottage. Have used Sykes before and would always recommend using them for great choice, trouble free booking in quality accommodation.
-
"Spacious cottage in fantastic setting in Abersoch."
Only comment from other guests was that wifi would have been the icing on the cake, even if at a premium.
-
"Enjoyed the cottage, only criticism was that both toilets seats were loose."
Would consider booking again though.

About the location
ABERSOCH
Pwllheli 6 miles.
The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
