"The bones of this flat are great and its location really couldn't be better, but it needs attention."
The sitting room and kitchen are absolutely fine, and the bathrooms do the job (though the en-suite shower leaks badly), but the bedrooms - particularly the master bedroom - are pretty disappointing. The double bed has the hardest mattress we've ever slept on; it was very uncomfortable to the point where one of us slept on the daybed in the second bedroom. The chest of drawers in the master bedroom is starting to fall apart (there was a piece hanging off the bottom) and it just all felt rather shabby. The wifi - which the paperwork in the flat described as something like "high quality" - doesn't stretch beyond the kitchen, so you've no hope of streaming anything in either bedroom; the irony of there being a Bluetooth-enabled mirror in the en-suite bathroom was not lost on us. Lastly, the noise from the flat above was almost intolerable at times. We were under the impression children weren't allowed in either flat, but there were children in the flat above us for the week we were there and the noise was difficult to deal with, particularly in the mornings and late at night. We were also very aware of our footsteps on the wooden floors and the impact on the flat below us. Knowing now that children are allowed in the top flat, that fact alone means we would not use Waters Edge again.
Wow… were you having a bad day when you wrote this? We are not going to reply to each individual issue, basically because we neither understand nor can identify them, we realise that all guests are not the same and have different preferences, so we do try to supply quality along with durability and functionality to the best we can within restrictive perimeters, I must say we are at a loss to why one of you would choose to sleep on a daybed which wasn’t made up for sleeping on, when there were 2 further beds made up ready, if the double bed wasn’t to your chosen firmness. This apartment has been a holiday let for over 5 years and we have always been overwhelmed by the lovely guest feedback, occasionally inevitably issues do crop up, but guests usually let us know whilst they are staying and we immediately get these dealt with for our guests. We don’t need to sing the praises of this apartment, we will let our other guests do that for us: In July this year we received an award from Sykes Holiday Cottages for receiving so much excellent customer feedback from guests, which they said was a fantastic achievement. All the other guests who stayed in the same month as you gave us 100% good feedback, for the same facilities. In-fact all guests who stayed over the last 12 months have given us 100% good feedback (including all the ones who chose not to have their feedback published), except for yourselves who gave 56%. Many guests have repeat stays at this property in-fact throughout 2024 over 20% of our bookings were guests who had stayed previously, some several times over the last 5 years. We believe all of the above speaks for itself. Property Owner

"The property was well maintained and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen."
Shopping and eating out was easy with the shops and restaurants a short walk away. We were left 2 spare sets of keys which was most useful. Sykes Cottages are good to deal with and their website is excellent.

"This is the 3rd time we have stayed in this lovely flat."
Before we have stayed in other flats in beamaris but this beats all. The views alone would make it the most desirable but the comfort and spaciousness is the icing on the cake. We intend having more holidays in the area and there will be no other place to stay in consideration!

"Waters Edge is a lovely, well equipped apartment over looking the sea."
Everywhere was very clean & comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much.
-
"Perfect location to visit Anglesey."
Very comfortable apartment with everything we needed for our break. Great views out over the Strait which meant you only needed to look out of the window to feel on holiday.
-
"We loved this apartment."
Great location, spacious, clean, games and toys for the kids. We will be back!
-
"Great location."
Lovely views. Good size apartment with two large bedrooms and modern large kitchen/diner. Would definitely recommend.
-
"Fabulous 2nd stay at this property."
Was lovely to have christmas tree and mince pies on arrival.
-
"Great stay, we loved the apartment and would love to go back."
We have three young kids and it was perfect for us great location, very well equipped. The only issue was the TV in the living room stopped working so we couldn’t watch tv in our down time. Also the TV in the kids room doesn’t work properly. No boggy for us as we were not there for the TV but it could be a major issue for others.

"This is our second stay and have booked for the Straits regatta again next year."
It is very clean and comfortable with wonderful views and good access to the town. There are many kind and friendly touches that make you feel at home.
-
"Great apt, beautiful views and had everything we needed."
The welcome pack was a nice touch.
-
"Water's Edge is a spacious, well appointed, clean and bright flat with the best view from Beaumaris - the Menai Straits and mountains beyond."
It provided everything we could have wished for, with all Beaumaris has to offer right on the doorstep. Absolutely loved the window seats and thank you for our welcome pack and milk in the fridge.

"Great property."
Ideally situated , overlooking the Menai Straits, and central to Beaumaris. Everything to meet our needs, in fact exceptionally so. The space was fantastic, I know there was only my son and I, but plenty of room for 5 or 6 people. I hope to be able to return again.
-
"Great location and stunning views."
We will book again. The team at Sykes were excellent a very smooth process
-
"The accommodation was brilliant a d exceptionally well equipped with nice touches such as the tea & coffee and dishwasher sets."
The location was excellent with beautiful views over the straits. I marked comfort down slightly but was purely personal preference as we prefer a rock hard mattress so it was a bit too soft for us. Also it may be worth getting a blackout blind for the main bedroom as there is a street light just outside which came straight through the curtains
Thank you so much for your feedback, we are really glad you liked the location and the found the apartment in general brilliant. We do agree with you that bedroom comfort is really personal preference and with that in mind we have always aimed for what the majority of guests would go for, we have many guests who return again and again to stay at the property and we fear that if we changed the beds to ‘rock hard’ we probably wouldn’t have such a lot of return stays, as the beds wouldn’t suit them. So we are really sorry but we have to cater for the majority, but we do still hope you may do a return visit. Property Owner

"We really enjoyed our stay - the owner has gone to a great deal of trouble to cater for every need - it was just perfect for us with fabulous views."
-
"We have had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas at this excellent well equipped apartment with all the extra touches making it extra special."
The views are wonderful and the closeness of Beaumaris amenities including the quality eateries and pubs make it an ideal location. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend Gadlys House - Water’s Edge to family and friends.

"A lovely property in a great location."
It’s got everything you need.
-
"The overall standard was excellent as indicated above."
The best property we have ever stayed in - including other Sykes properties! The location helped - marvellous views and all amenities within 5 to 10 minutes walk.
-
"We loved your place and would have to be very picky to find fault."
We booked it again for next year before we left.
-
"This is a lovely property with tremendous views over the Menai Straits."
Everything you could wish for was provided and the owners obviously pay great attention to detail. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the binoculars were well used! We got a weekly pass on The Green for parking and this worked very well.

"Location brilliant the photos on web site don’t do it justice it is nicer kitchen is lovely we liked it that much we going back in August."
The only thing I say is the Wi-Fi not very good but with fab views it doesn’t really matter
Many thanks for your lovely feedback, and whilst you were there for booking again to come in August. I am sorry you had a problem with the wifi, as although Beaumaris is notoriously bad for both wifi and mobile phone signal (some areas getting none at all!), being in the position we are on the seafront we pride ourselves on having a good signal for both, but due to the length of the building it does tend to weekend towards the back, although usually excellent in all the front main rooms. We have the same wifi for all the 3 floors of the building and the top floor had no problems and I was on the bottom floor for most of your week and had excellent wifi in every room. A couple of weeks ago I also had an issue on that floor, when it suddenly didn’t seem to work and if I went into settings I found it had defaulted trying to pick up someone else’s wifi (BG or GB I think), I am guessing its a new wifi nearby, as it never did it before this date and it’s only this apartment picking it up, and if I put it back to our wifi it was fine again, (I did leave details of this in the apartment), in the end to stop it doing this, I went into settings and I asked it to ignore the other wifi. My son was with me staying in this apartment that weekend and everything he watched on the TV was through the wifi with no issues and he said it was excellent wifi. You can be assured I will be keeping an eye on this and I do trust when you return in a few weeks you will get the normal good wifi all the time. Property Owner

"I felt the furniture in the living room was tired, although kitchen and bedrooms fine."
The ensuite shower was at risk of flooding and the waste was full of hair
Very sorry to hear about the shower waste, our housekeepers assure me that they clean all the wastes at every changeover, so can’t understand what happened here, but I do apologies and have reported your comments to our housekeepers, I am a little surprised that you didn’t write this in our comments book, which is there especially so that any problems/issues can be dealt with before the arrival of our next guests, obviously you just preferred to publish it, anyway it seems no problem for our next guests who within a few days of arrival, booked another visit for August. The shower does have a low profile tray (in order to accommodate the plumbing underneath), which I agree does appear that it could flood, but never does as it is designed to drain well. Sorry our interior design was not to your taste, two lounge sofas were bought new from the best quality furnishers on Anglesey only 3 years ago and have not had a lot of use due to being a holiday let and having a lot of lockdowns, then to give a cosy feel we added quality collectables such as Ercol and G-Plan pieces, along with an antique rocking horse and a fold up card/games table, which we tend to leave up in the bay window as a lot of people like to enjoy their morning coffee or breakfast looking out over the Menai Straight and breathtaking views of the Snowdonia mountain range whilst watching sea life and water activities. "We had a very happy and comfortable stay at Gadlys House."
Our two children (aged 4 and 6) loved the views and the selection of toys and books. There were so many lovely extra touches, such as the binoculars and wine cooler. The flat is beautifully decorated. The location was extremely convenient for the shops and sites and we followed the advice to park on the Green, which worked well. But above all else, it is the view that makes this such a special location - to watch the comings and goings of the boats, the tides and the seabirds, the fog over the mountains, and to see the light fade in the evening and the tinkling lights of Bangor appear. Wonderful! We hope to be back.
-
"Have had self catering holiday flats and cottages for many years."
This ranked at top especially when you take the view into account. We honestly did not want to leave! We love Anglesey and now would not willingly choose a different place to stay.
-
"Great views of the Menai Straits and Snowdonia from this well equipped and comfortable apartment."
We experienced a wonderful spectacle each evening at sunset when Dunlin performed an aerial ballet massing several hundred!!
-
"This is the second time we have booked this property in for two successive years and will book again at some time in the next couple of years."
The view sold the property for us and its ideal location in Beaumaris, the town is busier than most places on Anglesey and within easy access to explore the main land of North Wales. The information from Menai about parking on the green has been very helpful and excellent value for money from Beaumaris Council. In terms of eating out, I would like to give a special mention and recommendation to the Liverpool Arms adjacent to the property, it is advisable to book a table on line in advance of staying, as Beaumaris is a popular town for tourists and locals eating out. We really enjoyed our holiday

"Unfortunately for us the window cleaners arrived the day we left to remove the sea gull mess which had been there all the time we were there."
Lack of a washing machine for us not a problem but perhaps if a family with young children used it then it might be. Splendid views of the Straits from the lounge windows and ideal location for using all of the facilities of the town. Parking quite a serious issue and would be best if the availability of a weekly ticket from the Green car park could be flagged up more. For us arriving after 5pm when the car park is unmanned and having no coinage we could not get in there and that took some gloss off the first day.
-
"Beaumaris is beautiful and the apartment is situated in the perfect spot just on the edge on the town centre so it’s out of the hustle and bustle and noise of the centre but only takes a minute and you’re in it all and the view from the window seats in the bay windows is just stunning."
I could have spent all day looking at it. The only real downside to this property is the parking, we ended up staying in the car park behind the castle but it’s £5 for 24 hours so does bump up the price of the holiday. Most of the streets nearby are 1 hour parking only so no good for over night but it is worth it as the apartment has everything you could possibly need and more, very spacious and very clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
-
"The flat was very well equipped, in a great location and with excellent views."
We very much enjoyed our stay
-
"Loved the location and sea views Really well equipped and comfy"

"Lovely apartment."
Very well kept and maintained. Was left spotless on our arrival. Great views of the mountainside and the beach. Owners left us a welcome pack with tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits which was a lovely touch. My only negative would be that the double bed in the master bedroom was a bit small. Also the tv had a habit of being a bit jumpy and not syncing with the audio. Overall, we had a lovely relaxing week.
We are glad you had a lovely week, but were sorry that our 'full size' double bed was a bit small, for future reference we can always make the zip'n'link singles in the other bedroom into a super king-size if this would suit you better, as it says in the details you just need to arrange this in advance. Thank you for bringing to our attention the problems with the TV, we often stay there and haven't had these problems and none of our other guests have mentioned this, so we wonder if it was some interference in the area ie the weather, but we will definitely have the TV checked. "It was a pleasure to stay in the property and reassured by the standards of cleanliness, comfort and spaciousness; also having two bathrooms helped and it was situated in a prime location and in easy access to the town."
The only drawback would be the parking, which we had been clearly notified about and took on board the suggestion from yourselves about using the green for a week We appreciated the welcome pack, tea bags, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits; and the plentiful supply of crockery and cutlery. We would book this property again in the future

"The Water's Edge apartment is superb."
Extremely comfortable and very spacious. The views are magnificent. We hope to return for another stay!

"We had a lovely time, cottage was immaculate perfect location"
-
"Beaumaris is a beautiful town to stay in and the accommodation was excellent."
The views from the lounge were stunning and on the day it rained we were quite happy just watching the world go by . The only thing I would say in criticism is that it got quite cold in the evening and we couldnt get the heating to come on , it didn't bother us too much but my little 7 month old baby got quite cold the first night so we just went and bought him an extra blanket and he was fine then . Would love to come and stay again.
So glad that you enjoyed your stay at our accommodation and appreciated our amazing views. However we were upset to hear you had a problem adjusting the heating, we have since discovered that there was an issue with the thermostat, which has now been resolved. We appreciate that you weren't staying long and you didn't find it too much of an issue, but to us our guest's comfort and enjoyment is of paramount importance and we would have been happy for you to contact us at the time and it could have been sorted immediately. "The holiday rental was very good and met the description from Sykes Cottages."
However, we found that the double bed was very uncomfortable (we could feel the springs in our back) and it could really do with a better quality mattress. It is probably the wear and tear as this is likely to be the most used bed in the rental but thought it was worth giving feedback for future guests. The ensuite is very tiny and not very practical. Very limited storage and the water from the shower sprays everywhere even when we were being extremely careful. Other than these negatives, the flat has lovely views, is very spacious and is very well situated in Beaumaris. You have everything at your doorsteps - Fish and chip shop, pubs, restaurants and shops are just a few steps away.

"Gadlys House - Waters edge was fantastic, we booked last minute with Sykes which was very straight forward and efficient."
The apartment was brilliant, with 2 kids there is plenty of space and a fantastic bedroom for them. The facilities, décor and set pout of the apartment is great, large kitchen and lounge with nice views out over the water. It's position in Beaumaris is great on the end of the high street and even though there is no parking there are plenty of spaces around the town. The added bonus of being there for the annual firework display which topped a great week. Highly recommend both the apartment and Beaumaris, we will be returning asap !

About the location
BEAUMARIS
Menai Bridge 4 miles.
Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
