  • "We stayed at The Old Post Office at the end of January for a week and what a fab time we had."

We have stayed in Blaenau several times and just love the Village hence why we came back. There were 4 Adults and 2 small dogs so needed a place of size and The Old Post Office fit the bill perfectly. Check in was easy and the property was beautiful. We found the property to be warm, spacious and clean. Perfect location; just a few minutes walk to the shops but just 1 minute walk to Y MANOD pub...cracking pub, we spent a significant amount of time in here and we're made to feel very welcome. We would certainly stay here again!

  • "It is an excellent, very clean cottage, with a spacious and well equipped kitchen/dining area."

If you are lucky enough (as we were) to have good weather then there are 2 nice patio areas with great views across the valley.

  • "Excellent property."

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the quirky house. Bigger inside than appears on photos. Very well equipped kitchen if you like to cook fresh, we slept well in the very comfy beds, showers are great, and superb views from the top tier of garden. Even catered for our 17 year old who loves relaxing watching Netflix after a day out exploring. An unexpected little find. Location is great like anywhere in Snowdonia. Parking is mostly not available outside so we parked across the road on Maes Y Plas and we could still see our car. Wasn't the issue we thought it might be. Would highly recommend and would stay here again.

The property

Old Post Office is a superb double-fronted, semi-detached cottage, situated on the outskirts of the popular and historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

It provides a wonderful base for exploring the area for couples, friends, or a family.

The Old Post Office has been lovingly renovated to a high standard and is well maintained with exceptional presentation, and great attention to detail from the owners.

This wonderful cottage has a modern and fresh interior with stylish soft furnishings, tastefully decorated in neutral tones, with complimenting fabrics to add a touch of luxury.

A bay windowed sitting room boasts comfy seating and a lovely fireplace housing a wood burning stove, perfect for those chilly evenings in front of the TV watching a favourite film from the selection of DVD's provided.

The beautiful kitchen has a wonderful peninsula island, granite worktops, double Belfast sink and a Kenwood gas cooking range; a great addition to an already well-equipped kitchen which will please the chef in your group.

The bay fronted dining area provides comfortable dining for all the family and fabulous views.

Three stylish bedrooms are upstairs, each offering something different.

The master bedroom has fantastic views towards the Moelwyn mountain range and benefits from a king-size bed and en-suite shower room.

The double bedroom has garden access out onto the decked area, which enjoys a craggy backdrop and is a great place to enjoy an early morning cuppa.

Last but not least is a spacious twin-bedded room enjoying the same mountainous views.

A family bathroom completes this lovely holiday home.

Outside there is an area for bike storage, with a secure lock to keep bikes safe but it’s the terraced garden and elevated decked seating area which makes this property rather special.

Here you can enjoy alfresco dining with some amazing views encompassing the Vale of Ffestiniog, the Moelwyn mountain range and Stwlan Dam.

The decked areas twinkle at night with an array of solar powered lighting making it a lovely place for a night cap, in the warmer weather.

Walks are in abundance from the cottage, which is also ideally placed for numerous cycling paths and trails.

Antur Stiniog's downhill mountain bike centre is less than a mile away and the largest mountain bike trail centre in Wales, Coed-y-Brenin, is within easy reach by car.

The town centre is a short walk from the cottage, offering a variety of shops, tea rooms, pubs, eateries and even a 50 seat cinema.

The famous Ffestiniog-Porthmadog Steam Railway starts its journey from the town centre, and for the more adventurous of you, there is ZipWorld Titan (the largest zip zone in Europe), Zip Caverns, and Bounce Below (deep mine zip wires and the largest underground system of trampolines in the world!).

The coastal towns of Harlech and Criccieth, with their medieval castles, wonderful sandy beaches, and hidden coves, and the Italianate village and gardens of Portmeirion are all reached in driving distance, as is Porthmadog and Betws-Y-Coed.

With Snowdonia on the doorstep, and Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula easily reached, Old Post Office is a perfect family cottage for all to enjoy, whatever the time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.
