  • "We really enjoyed this property and would definitely recommend it to others."

It was comfortable, well equipped (particularly in the kitchen), clean, spacious and very well situated in Betws-y-Coed. We were just 2 people, so we had loads of space and did not need/use the downstairs at all. The showers were very good, the beds OK (master mattress a little soft), everything worked well in the kitchen plus 2nd fridge was handy. Laundry machines (both washer & dryer) were great. We made many of our dinners at home and found the kitchen was well enough equipped to support this. No complaints at all - thanks to the owners as well for the welcome treats.

  • "We have not paid the additional cleaning fee we originally offered to pay, because of the issues we experienced at the house."

It was damp in the lower ground floor/basement, all our clothes that were down there smell and need washing, it was a very unpleasant environment to sleep in and moreover our 7 month old who slept down there with us has developed a cough. We sincerely hope this is not linked to the damp for the sake of his health. The dehumidifier positioned at the bottom of the stairs clearly confirms the extent of the issue. Throughout the house there was dust on the floors - under the beds in the twin room any item of the children’s clothing that made its way under there was pulled out and found to be covered in dust. The living room clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time - we moved the coffee table to one side to make space for the baby to crawl around, and when he did he was getting covered in dirt. We took the rug outside to shake it out, underneath the amount of dirt, grit, food debris, even two coasters, was unbelievable. Same under/behind the sofas which we also needed to reposition slightly. As to the sofas themselves, they were grubby and so were the blankets used to cover up the marks and stains. These throws only made them more uncomfortable because we kept sliding down them. All the corners, skirting, window sills, carpets, lamps, were covered in dust with a lot of spiders and cobwebs. The cobwebs were black with dirt. The grip mat in the shower was brown with grime on the underside. Then there is the issue with accessing the house up a steep hill on unmade ground with many large pot holes. We were with my 83 year old mother and chose a house in town so she could wonder into town when we were off hiking. She really struggled getting up and down and had the listing made it clear that the house is not suitable for elderly we wouldn’t have booked it. It is also not suitable for pushing a pram up there. We came away for our annual trip full of excitement and that was soon marred for the adults by the issues at the house. The only good thing about it, is that the kitchen is well stocked with crockery. That said, we were only provided with one bin bag for the week, and only one bathroom had the dregs of some watered down hand soap. Not the type of things we should have to bring away with us, it should be provided

Thankyou for the review. Its unfortunate none of these issues were raised at the time. We had thought we were being more than fair allowing you to stay when you arrived with a dog. The details clearly state no pets, and you hadn’t asked whether you could bring one .This is our policy, and we are aware guests may have allergies and deliberately choose pet free accommodation. We could therefore have asked you to leave. We accept there have been some issues with damp, however these have been addressed. It is apparent from the photos you provided that some of the furniture has been moved. We don’t accept that the living room hadn’t been cleaned for a long time .The house is cleaned thoroughly during every changeover and note the reviews just before didn’t mention these issues. The grip mat in the shower has recently been replaced. We are sorry if your elderly mother struggled with the access. This is Snowdonia, and most people book the accommodation for outdoor pursuits. This is the first complaint we have had of that nature, however we will add a better description on Sykes website. We can assure you all the health and safety documentation is up to date as legally required by Sykes. With regards to a refund,we cannot offer this.Had you raised the issues at the start of your 7night stay ,we would have been happy for someone to come to the property. We also asked you to pay a small fee for your pet,to which you refused. We were disappointed and surprised to read this review, given that we generally receive very good feedback. Property Owner

Great size. Kitchen had EVERYTHING you needed and more. Gsrden was great but looked bigger on the pictures but still fine. Beds comfy and shower great. Only issue was the damp smell in the downstairs bedrooms. It was not the best and my younger son found it hard as he has allergies. Although clean on the surface, Needs a thorough clean by pulling out furniture and under rugs. However, all in all if get this sorted them a fantastic property and location.

The location is superb and the house is perfect for families with young children whilst also being comfortable for the grown ups. Kitchen is fantastically well equipped and large utility room for wellies etc, bedding was of high quality also. Welsh cakes were lovely on arrival, our two year old was particularly fond of them. Perhaps some tea/coffee would be a nice addition.

Property is very spacious, bathrooms were spotless as well as kitchen, property has all the amenities needed, great location too. The only little thing was one of the beds bedding wasn't clean and one broken bed slat prevented us from giving 5* ... Owner responded promptly to message upon our arrival and all got sorted. We would come back again.

Just of the main road but is in a very quiet location just 5 minuets walk to the town. Snowden is a nice easy 30 minuet drive. The house is very warm , Comfortable and has everything you need. The kitchen & utility room are a good size & well equipped. The living room has comfy sofas & a lovely log burner.Bedrooms were all comfortable . There were 5 of us staying and we had plenty of room. The only down side is it only has two bathrooms and one is on suite so a bit of queueing in the morning. I would defiantly stay again if I was in the area. The pictures don't do it justice. All of us agreed it was a great place.

Tucked away in a quiet location but only two minutes walk onto the Main Street - absolutely perfect! We loved the space and light airy feel of the property, which housed us all without feeling on top of each other. The grandchildren especially loved it, so much that one didn’t want to leave his ‘holiday home’. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

If I was asked how it could be improved, I would say it could do with a bigger fridge and a toilet downstairs, but we were fine and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was great for my 90 year old mum because she could be on one floor and she could just about manage the walk to the river and back. Fabulous supply of crockery and a lovely comfy layout. Property is really well furnished in every room, although a little dated but lends itself well to the properties feel/ outdoorsy use. I did notice a few minor cleaning improvements- dusty in places, cobwebs and odd bits of the floor- but it a property that sleeps 8 and such spacious rooms these minor aspects are understandable. Thanks for the great stay!

  • "Absolutely lovely accommodation, well equipped and most importantly the beds were very comfortable."

The only very very slight negative is there were a few cobwebs and those very fine spiders high up near the ceilings. I hate spiders so it could just do with de-cobwebbing more often, but it wasn’t bad enough to put me off the house. Would definitely return and would also recommend to friends. I should imagine it would be lovely to sit out in the garden if there in the summer.

It is Tardis like, being so much bigger inside than it looks and is quite luxurious. Whilst some of the utensils (ovenware) could do with updating, the crockery and cutlery are plentiful and looked new. It was very clean on arrival and the large vestibule enabled us to take our boots off inside in the warm and dry when back from a walk. The conservatory provided a peaceful and light place to read and enjoy coffee and cakes from the excellent bakery. We came by train and used the frequent Sherpa buses; it was so easy to get round and be green.

  • "This is definitely the nicest holiday accomodation we have stayed in."

It is brilliantly located with a 2 minute downhill walk to the village centre. All the facilities are top quality and very few similar properties have a conservatory (small) and a good sized garden which is on a split level with tables and chairs - ideal for the summer. Angela, the caretaker who lives very close, was an absolute star and she very promptly had a minor radiator problem corrected and was very helpful with the recycling. Perhaps it's being churlish but a tv in the main bedroom would be nice. Eating places in the village are at a premium and booking well in advance is recommended. The Old Ship at Trefriw is also worth a visit and for shopping, the Co-op at Llanrwst is the best in the immediate area. A really enjoyable stay and we were sorry to leave.
