  • "We had a lovely stay, great location (although we did struggle to locate it in the dark - it's down the private drive next to Cotswold Outdoors)."

Enjoyed the hot tub very much. Would def look to stay again if in the area and that's probably the best feedback you can give a holiday let!

Thank you for the welcome pack that was a lovely surprise and we were really pleased with the updates to the property. We found the house to be clean and comfortable as usual and will definitely be back to make more memories in Wales. The location is ideal for exploring the Snowdonia region and in the evening there are plenty of options to eat out without taking your car. I would highly recommend this property it is perfect! Thank you to the owners we will definitely book again for our fifth visit!

The location is perfect and very close to the pubs, shops and restaurants. The house was very clean and tidy and the owners have clearly taken on board previous comments. The hot tub was a great addition and the welcome pack was lovely. We would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed the hot tub and being able to walk into the village. Some damp in the bedrooms. Would benefit from a closed in area for any guests with dogs.

Hi Lyndsey, we have appointed new cleaners to look after Craigside as of 28th June due to a few weeks of similar feedback from other guests. I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the property and location. We hope you come back soon and can see the improvements that had been made since your stay. • "Lovely location."

The property is gorgeous. Very spacious. Needs a deep clean. Surfaces clean but behind chairs, furniture, beds even under tables were full of bits. Cobwebs in each corner of lounge and in window recesses. Back door to hot tub lock is not fully locking and needs abit of assistance. We had an issue with upstairs toilet flush. A very nice gentleman came out to mend it on a Sunday, thank you. It didn't spoil the holiday as overall the property is perfect but maybe abit of tlc required.

Hi Andrea, thank you very much for your feedback and I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your holiday and staying Craigside. Thank you for notifying me of the cleaning not being up to the high standard expected of a holiday home. We have taken this on board and made changes to resolve this. Hi Chris, good to speak with you and thank you for the videos you sent by WhatsApp. My apologies again the property was not up to the high standards expected of a holiday home. I was very apologetic regarding this and did my utmost to resolve this as promptly as possible. All of the above issues were then resolved upon the evening of your arrival, while you were out for dinner. Thank you also for your message of “Pleasantly surprised the place is much cleaner/up to a good standard thanks for sorting it out ” It is a shame this is not reflected in your feedback. • "The picture on the website totally misrepresents the view of the area in which it sits."

It’s not as expansive as shown therefore when you arrive you feel a bit underwhelmed. The cottage is comfortable and with plenty of equipment to enjoy a relaxing holiday, as previously stated by others there is an abundance of cobwebs, which could have easily been removed before our arrival. The welcome pack was great and local amenities very close and the Royal Oak does great food, the grandkids loved it. All in all it’s a great place to stay with good local links we loved the log fire. Yes I’d come again very peaceful and restful

Hi Mr Manterfield, I’m delighted to hear you will be coming back to stay at Craigside. We’ve taken on board all of your points and have made changes to improve the guest experience in the future. We will look forward to welcoming you back in the near future and I am confident you will be pleasantly surprised at the improvements :) Property Owner

  • "Craigside Holiday Cottage is a nice place for a break."

It's close to shops, cafes, and fun things to do. The house gets warm fast when you turn on the heat, which is great. The bedrooms are big, the beds are comfy, and there's plenty of room to store clothing and items. The bathroom is also good. It has a wet room and a nice shower. But, the cottage could be better. It needs a good clean. There are crumbs under the dining table, the bathroom cabinet is dirty, there are cobwebs throughout the property, and the kitchen tools like the chopping board are not clean. There's also mould in almost every room, some kitchen tools are melted, and some glasses are chipped. The cottage feels old and worn out (tired). It would be good to have hooks near the hot tub to hang towels. Overall, Craigside Holiday Cottage has some good points, but it needs some work to make it really nice for guests. With a bit of cleaning and fixing, it could be a great place to stay.

Hi Michael, thank you for your feedback, it’s most appreciated. We have invested a lot on improvements to the property following your stay and hope to see you again in the near future Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property, in a wonderful location."

Highly recommended. Further suggestions: A “welcome pack” with basics such as milk, tea/coffee would have been useful (there was no fairy liquid on arrival). Also, an information pack containing WIFI, heating instructions, hot tub instructions etc. and local recommendations for food, shopping etc would be helpful for future guests. However, we had a wonderful stay!

Hi Abigail, thank you for your kind words and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. My apologies for the lack of instruction, we had just ran out of welcome brochures, which have now been replenished. All bookings going forward now include a welcome pack also, so there are some basic essentials upon arrival Property Owner

Loved the qwerky little windows. The wine and cake left were a lovely treat as well. Only one very minor thing was that the front sitting room smelt of damp dog, it wasn’t a big problem for us and may have been from previous occupants. Would definitely go back again.

A very generous welcome pack, many thanks. We have been to this area many times and this village is perfectly placed for visiting so many different places eg Anglesey, Portmeirion, Bodnant, Llandudno, Slate Museum, Caernarfon etc. The next door property may not be the tidiest, but they cause no problems, which is the main thing.

  • "The cottage was comfortable, We were disappointed with a couple of things: 1."

There was no enclosed garden 2. The neighbours made the whole area seem like you were living in a Rubbish dump for a week. 3. Photos were misleading with the amount of green areas you can actually use 4. The fireplace was in the Dining room which was a pointless place to have it - couldn't enjoy it in the evening without sitting uncomfortably at the dining table 5. Water pressure in the shower was awful and no hand held part which meant it took much longer to shower than needed. We had a relaxing week however and inside the cottage was very nice. Location was great especially as we didn't really drive anywhere. Thanks

  • "Absolutely wonderful place to stay."

The home was made to be very comfortable, the facilities were brilliant. Specifically the proximity to the shops and restaurants was great, considering that it was nice to be slightly set back from the main drag of tourists. The road is close and noisy, but once inside the house, the noise didn't bother us. Close to so many wonderful places, and the kitchen and cooker was a joy. Not to mention the well maintained jacuzzi. There were a few light bulbs not working and sadly no replacements but again, small things that didn't hinder our enjoyment. We will be rebooking!!

  • "This is a lovely house, only a short distance from restaurants, shops, and pubs, with great walks from the front door up into the woods and lake behind."

And you can hear a waterfall from the house, which is lovely, but otherwise it is really quiet even with front windows open. The property itself is exactly as advertised, very warm and comfortable and very clean, with everything you could need in the kitchen, including a massive Rangemaster cooker. It suited our mixed age-group family perfectly. We are used to keeping our two spaniels close by when using the hot-tub or garden, so the fact that there was no fully enclosed space to the rear wasn't a problem for us, but others might want to take a pet barrier just for peace of mind. The comments in another review about the untidy garden adjacent are accurate, but as this is only visible from an upstairs window, it did not diminish our enjoyment of Craigside in any way. We plan to return, perhaps when the weather is warm enough to enjoy having breakfast in the big garden!

  • "We had a wonderful Christmas stay, just what we needed."

The cottage was beautifully presented and spotless. There was a little welcome pack and useful necessities like tea bags etc if we'd not brought our own. The kitchen was the best equipped cottage I've stayed in. Hot tub was lovely and the location amazing, being so close to shops, pubs and restaurants. My only negative comment was the outlook from the rear of the house. Sadly the neighbouring house doesn't seem to look after their garden which was more of a dumping ground and has an unsightly static caravan. This clearly isn't the fault of Craigside which was the complete contrast and immaculate.

Granny and Grampa have been holidaying here for over 50 yrears. The dog is new. Our favourite Bettws y Coed cottage does not take dogs, so we discovered Craigside. It had a lot to live up to and it did not disappoint. Loved the location, so quiet and private. The house was welcoming and accommodated us in comfort. Lakes and rivers are all very well in Summer (we were last up here in August) but a hot tub is just the ticket for Autumn. Think the dog will be coming back. We are talking about February.

The property

Situated on the outskirts of the popular Betws-Y-Coed in the the heart of North Wales' Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is this lovely, detached stone cottage, Craigside.

With Craig meaning 'rock' in Welsh, this rockside cottage is an ideal home-from-home for outdoor adventurers, whether that be an exciting break with friends, or a family holiday amongst the stunning mountains.

On arrival, off-road parking makes it easy to unload your bags, before stepping into the cottage.

To the left, the sitting room offers a corner sofa, perfect for sinking into while you flick through streaming services on the Smart TV after a day out.

To the right, the dining room hosts a table with seating for six where you can plan your days over dinner, as well as a fireside chair beside the woodburning stove and a selection of books should you want to break away from the group and unwind.

Through to the kitchen, everything you need to whip up delicious dinners rests here; the Rangemaster with a gas oven and hob will be difficult for the chef of your group to resist, while the extra touches of a wine cooler and breakfast bar allows you to catch up on the day's events with a glass of wine in hand as you cook.

Completing the ground floor is a cloakroom, and a handy utility where you can freshen up your clothes and towels.

When it is time to rest, climb the stairs to discover three well-presented bedrooms with plenty of storage and natural light; the master bedroom is home to a larger super-king-size bedroom, the second has a king-size, and the third holds two singles, making it ideal for children or friends sharing.

Rest your head before a day of exploring your surroundings, before waking up with a hot shower in the shower room and starting your day.

When you arrive back from a day of walking, cycling, or just idling around this picture-perfect part of Wales, a bubbling hot tub awaits you in the rear patio; relax and unwind in the bubbles before preparing to do it all again the next day.

There is so much to see and do in the area including a fascinating visit to the Conwy Valley Railway Museum, for any train enthusiasts of your group, a round at the gorgeous Betws-y-Coed Golf Course which has tremendous views, or if you are looking for a thrill during your break, Zip World provides a fun-filled day of forest activities.

Venturing outside of the village, a fantastic day can be enjoyed in the World Heritage town of Conwy, home to Conwy Castle for the history buffs, Conwy Morfa Beach for those who like to sunbathe with an ice cream, and Pensychnant Conservation Centre for the wildlife lovers in the family.

If all that is not enough, the wonders of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park's mountains, lakes and spectacular views will be plenty to keep you busy.

Make memories that will last a lifetime with a stay at Craigside.
