  • "A wonderful short stay at this cottage with our two teenage children."

The cottage was very comfortable and finished to a very high standard. Everything we needed was there and had been thought about. It was very warm and the log fire made each evening very cosy. The cottage had such character and was surrounded by beautiful scenery. Dylan and Kirstie were so helpful and responded to us straight away when we had a question. They also kindly let us stay on after checkout time, as they didn't have a booking that evening and it allowed me to stay at the cottage with the dog, while my husband and children went of to climb Snowdon. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We'd love to come back and explore more.

  • "Bwythn Y Bugail is a lovely warm and homely cottage."

Kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed to cook for ourselves. We found it to be the perfect base for exploring different parts of Snowdonia, and a lovely cottage to relax in.

  • "The property is quite small, but don't let that fool you, it has been furnished with everything you'll need to make your stay a comfortable one, and comfortable it is."

Everything has been finished to a high standard with an eye for detail. The outside area to the rear has a steep climb, but like everything else has been completed to a high standard and provides a lovely spot for a sundowner overlooking the hills. Our hosts could not have been nicer or more accommodating, genuinely nice people. In short, I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a very cosy stay in a lovely area.

  • "We had a lovely week’s stay at the cottage."

It is a great base to explore and was very clean and comfortable. Owners communication and location instructions before we arrived were great. As a suggestion the cottage would benefit from some storage in the second bedroom such as a small set of drawers or shelves and some more cutlery in the kitchen. We would highly recommend and would visit again, thanks for letting us stay!

  • "The cottage is just perfect - everything you need for a short break away."

Very clean and perfectly situated for traveling around the area and sight seeing. The only downside would be the parking as very tight - not everyone parking within their allocated spaces but this is not the owners fault. Would definitely recommend.

!. I felt so comfortable, that I extended the booking. Also to keep in touch with Dylan was great, he was really nice and flexible for clarifying topics regarding bookings or additional stuff I needed! I am looking forward to come back with a group may be; I do not need experiments on other apartments in Snowdonia. It was just great and uncomplicated! 10/10 !

The property

Blaenau Ffestiniog 2.1 miles.

Bwthyn Y Bugail, a delightful, 18th century, stone-built terraced cottage, situated on the outskirts of Manod, just over two miles from the historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the heart of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

Bwthyn Y Bugail is one of the original cottages built around 1760 and predates the development of the town, and is an ideal base for couples, friends or a family who enjoy walking and the great outdoors.

Surrounded by dramatic scenery, this charming open plan property boasts glorious mountain views from most aspects and has been sympathetically renovated to retain much original character, including exposed beams, slate flagstone flooring in the kitchen, quarry tiled flooring in the sitting area together with a large, and impressive inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove, ideal for those chillier evenings or when you just want to curl up and watch your favourite film.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all the neccessities required for a week away, whilst the dining area is where you can enjoy mealtimes and share holiday plans with eachother.

As the night grows dark, venture upstairs and discover two delightful bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, and a contemporary shower room.

To the outside is a lovely terraced rear patio and seating area and is a perfect place to relax after a long day on the mountains with a glass of something chilled.

Being elevated, it makes an ideal vantage point from which to enjoy the scenic countryside and mountainous views.

The surrounding area offers beautiful countryside and stunning views, with the Manod Mawr and Bach mountains and the hidden Manod Lake directly opposite the property.

Nearby Blaenau Ffestiniog offers an array of shops, cafes, restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and a cinema, whilst the Llechwedd Slate Caverns offers a world-class downhill mountain bike track, ZipWorld Titan and Caverns, the largest zip wire zone in Europe and the exciting Bounce Below underground trampolines.

For something a little less exhausting but just as exciting is the world-famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway which is definitely worth a ride.

Enjoy the nearby bustling town of Porthmadog with its marina, or the enormous beach at Black Rock Sands, whilst Bodnant Gardens and Yr Wydffa (Snowdon) itself are both within easy reach.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of North Wales with a holiday at Bwthyn Y Bugail.
