"Lovely property, home from home."
The welcome gift was lovely. The milk in the fridge an added bonus to make a cuppa after the journey.

"Lovely cottage, we had a great stay there."
Being in Blaenau one is in the Center of Snowdonia, which is really nice for getting everywhere quickly. Everything was as described. The owner provides a lot of useful information. We wanna come back!

"We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated all the little extras like a bottle of wine and dog bowls."
The house is very comfortable and has everything you need. Perhaps some more bigger towels would be good.

"This is our second visit to this cottage and it is still a lovely homely place to spend a week in North Wales."
It is a small but very cosy cottage tastefully refurbished with all required amenities. As a base for walking the hills of North Wales it is ideal. We enjoyed our stay despite the cold weather since the house was lovely to come home to after a day walking in the mountains.

"Great central location to explore North Wales, very clean, warm and welcoming."
Thank you for the wine! Bed very comfortable and everything virtually perfect. Only one issue which didn’t have a huge impact on our stay as we were out exploring all day but we couldn’t get the TV or sky box to work at all. I would suggest a much simpler system especially for winter guests or those with children. We couldn’t get my Netflix to work properly as the internet wasn’t great. Luckily I had my iPad but after a busy day hiking in the mountains, it was a bit of a shame not to be able to chill in front of the TV. A small issue as everything else was great! Thank you so much and I would definitely recommend if you get the TV system working.

"Lovely cosy cottage."
Fantastic folders providing details of local attractions and amenities. Really appreciated the welcome pack of wine and snacks, especially after a long journey!! Very clean, modern and comfortable, especially the beds. Lovely views from terrace garden. Will definitely book again, great value for money

"Excellent accommodation, nice decor, parking no problem."
We are happy to recommend Manod View, but unfortunately, it is not suitable for some of our friends with walking difficulties. Good value, we would certainly stay again.

"Lovely little cottage."
Great to come back to after exploring the area. Warm, clean and well resourced.
-
"Lovely cottage with everything we needed."
Information folders were very helpful. Good location for all the sightseeing. Lovely dog friendly pub 2min walk, co op approx 7min walk. The cottage is not for young children really as the garden is very very steep but the owners have made good seating areas. Parking was fine, first come but never a problem. The only downside was the shower could be updated had a mind of its own. Would recommend.

"The cottage is lovely and very clean."
Beds are extremely comfortable and bed linen was perfect and cosy. The kitchen is well appointed and having a washing machine and dishwasher was a brilliant extra. When we arrived the cottage was lovely and warm and the treats left for us were a really nice touch. It was great to be able to have a cuppa when we arrived. As the cottage is advertised for families I feel it may be a good idea to supply some child friendly plates, cups and cutlery. We loved our stay and the little doggie touches too, thank you.

"A lovely, homely retreat perfectly placed for adventures in Snowdonia."
Everything we needed was provided, along with wine and chocolates - much appreciated, diolch ! Lots of walks from the door, and yet more within a couple of miles including waterfalls, mines, mountains and ancient history. Staying through some very stormy weather we made good use of the tumble dryer, cosy bed, and a nice hot bath in the evening! We really enjoyed our stay, you'll be hard pushed to get a better value deal in this part of Snowdonia, and you'll be amazed at what you can discover right there from the doorstep. Def recommend.

"The cottage was in a great location and it was easy to park right outside at all times."
The WiFi worked well and the cottage was well equipped for our needs. Sadly, the cleanliness and attention to detail lets it down. We arrived just after dark and put the hall light on to find that the bulb had gone. Putting on the stairs light just shows how filthy the stairs carpet is. There was some very old moldy coffee in the coffee jar on the kitchen unit along with some very old lumpy sugar. I should say that a welcome tray was provided with coffee and sugar sachets so why not just get rid of the old jars or at least wash them out? The outdoor terrace area is pretty grim. No attempt had been made to clear the rotting leaves from the steps or to clean the outside furniture. Again, when putting on the outside light we found the bulb had gone. There are some solar lights but these were never seen working. There is a notice advising guests that the steps may be slippery but I feel the lack of maintenance and lighting will be far more important factors in the claim for damages that is surely going to occur if the steps are left in this appalling condition. In the information folder it tells you where to find spare light bulbs and a torch but alas they don’t actually exist. Other issues we found included the freezer box in the fridge is so iced up it is impossible to get anything in it. We spent ages chiseling out space for some ice cream! The shower curtain was covered in long hairs that washed off all over the place when showering. Thinking it may be better to have a bath was also a bad idea as the water pressure is so poor it takes over 30 minutes to fill and the drainage so bad, pretty much the same time to empty it afterwards. The bins are still a problem. I get that they may only be emptied every 3 weeks but they were already pretty full when we arrived and smell horrible. Finally, we tried to track down an odd smell in the kitchen to no avail. On departure when we took out the bin bag from the bin we found the rotting food remnants from a previous guest that the cleaner had obviously just left behind and covered up with a new bag. All in all, these are all easily solvable problems (probably with new cleaners) They wern`t enough to make me want to complain but neither could I recommend anyone to stay here. I do feel that Sykes and the owners need to get a grip on this before standards slip any further.
Thank you for leaving these comments. I have not been able to get to the cottage for a few weeks, so I was not aware of the bulbs going, as the last time I was there was in the day and I had not put the lights on. The bulbs must have been used under the sink and I have not been informed, so I will sort this out as a matter of urgency, and replace them and I can only apologize for this. I have put my faith in the cleaner, as i cant get up every week and i am looking at changing cleaner. As some of these issues, as you say, could be easily fixed if due care was taken by them. In terms of leaves on the steps, i do brush them when I am there and next door trees blow on to them, and as it Autumn it is hard to keep on top of, as no sooner have you brush them more drop. Thank you for pointing these out and I'm sorry that you had to but I will do my utmost to put right what I can control. Thank you again. Property Owner

"Loved it!"
-
"Was a lovely and cosy holiday cottage in an excellent location for walking with the dog and exploring the local attractions."
The house was superbly clean and had every we needed to make our stay hassle free. The information on the local area left for us was excellent and helped us discover local walks and places to eat. The terrace outside was perfect for a morning coffee - but as described the steps are quite steep and slippery so wouldn't be suitable for older dogs or humans! We loved our stay and would definitely recommend.

"After reading some reports on manod view we were not sure what to expect."
We found the cottage to be extremely clean and tidy with everything you would require for a wonderful holiday. Very nicely located in the village for supermarket and take away food and local pub. We enjoyed our stay at manod view thank you very much.

"Our arrival was delayed as there was work being done on the drains."
Only an hour but after a long journey not welcome. Had to wash the sheets ourselves as they were stained. The bins in the back yard were already full from previous occupants and were attracting flies and midges. This got increasingly worse and we couldn't open doors and windows to allow fresh air in without them coming in. We cut came home 2 days early as we were both bitten several times. The cottage takes dogs but is not dog friendly. The outside yard is tiny and fhe steps are extremely steep. All in all not a good experience. We did ring the owner Mrs love to inform her of the fly problem but we were told that the flies were to be expected and the dirty sheets were down to the cleaners.
Thank you for your feedback. I do apologise for the delay on your arrival day and for the stains on the sheets - I agree that this is not good, and have taken this up with my cleaner - I can only apologise for this. In relation to the bins - these can fill quicker during busier periods, however if I had been made aware of the issue I could have looked to resolve it during your stay. The property is pet friendly, and we do welcome dogs, and we have included the following information in it our description: Note: Whilst the front patio and rear terraced areas are enclosed they are not entirely secure, so dogs would need to be supervised • Note: Terraced garden is on three levels and accessed via steep slate steps, children must be supervised at all times and care should be taken. "I have given the above stars for the reasons below (photos available if required) Mould on Shower Curtain Mould on Bathroom Curtain Mould on wall around Window Frame in Bathroom Mould on wall around Bedroom Window Mould on wall in Bedroom near plug."
Holes in cushions in Living Room Only one light bulb working out of three on main light fitting TV didn't work Drainage Pipe was blocked in backyard so every time we used bathroom yard flooded. only 2 can openers, one didn't work other very rusty. I rang owner and expressed my concerns as this is the first time myself and my wife have been away since covid and we expected the house to be checked. As we don't have any mould at home you can imagine our disappointment to have it in a 4 ticks rated holiday home which we had paid good money for. My wife rang the owner on Friday and the owner explained she lived 40 miles away and couldn't get over to deal with it till Monday. I was able to fix TV myself on Saturday morning and owner did visit while we were out to change Shower Curtain, wipe the mould from the wall and cleared the blockage in the back yard. I hadn't mentioned the cushions, the light bulbs or the can openers as I was fed up of having to get in touch with her about things that should have been dealt with before we arrived.
Thank you for your feedback. I do apologise for the issues reported during your stay, and I did attend to the property as quickly as I could after the issues had been raised. We thank you again for your comments. Property Owner

"Beautiful and cozy house with stunning views."
We really loved having breakfast out on the terrace looking out at the view. Look forward to coming back!

"The photos of the back yard are a little misleading."
While this didn’t take away from the quality inside the house, because we have 2 dogs we wanted a property with an area for the dogs to use while we were indoors. And we found the outside area to be unsuitable, as firstly, the area directly outside the back door is tiny, and secondly the steps were too steep to allow access for our dogs, who are both elderly. The photos show a lovely gravelled area, which looked like it was directly outside the back entrance overlooking a neighbouring property but in reality it was overlooking its own property and was at the top of 2 sets of very steep ( and due to wet conditions) and slippery slate steps. I feel the area outside the back door and also the steps should be shown as part of the properties photos, as this could be an issue for some people due to dog age etc, and also client age etc. Other than this issue the house is beautifully maintained, and very clean, and good value for money. A great base for exploring Snowdonia.

"Cottage was well equipped and really homely."
Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Great location to visit beaches, lakes and Snowdonia. Blaenau is quiet but friendly. Great walk just opposite. Our dog was also very settled and welcomed!

"A beautiful property within walking distance to town."
The property was very cold on entering, so would have been nice to have heating on on arrival but I did book last min & the gas fire and having gas central heating got the house warm soon enough :) Everything was needed home from home, clean property with a beautiful kitchen. I loved the bath.. best so far! had one most of the days I stayed. A variety of books & DVDs were much appreciated and I loved to sit in silence, reading one of the books :) I didnt want to leave and did try to extend my stay through Sykes.. who told me I would need to book afresh rather than be able to just add more days to me already being at the property! The property is worth another week and next time will book more than a week so make the most of being in the area.. I am from the area so was visiting family and friends in the area having moved into the city years ago.. so was nice to come back to the countryside again :)

The property
A lovely, stone-built, end-terrace cottage, situated on the edge of the popular town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.
An ideal cottage for a couple or small family looking to enjoy a relaxing break in this beautiful part of North Wales, Manod View provides a great base and offers comfortable and spacious accommodation.
Enhanced by high ceilings, it is decorated and furnished with taste and flair offering a warm and welcoming ambiance.
A tastefully furnished sitting room offering leather sofas and a warming real flame gas fire is ideal to relax in front of after a busy day exploring the area, along with French doors which lead through to a separate dining room and onto a fully fitted kitchen with modern, oak block worktops; it's well-equipped for all your needs.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, with a stylish and chic king-size bedroom and a snug single, as well as a spacious, modern bathroom with double-ended bath, perfect for a soak after a long day on the mountains.
On a warm summer's evening, why not sit outside in the enclosed terraced garden and enjoy a relaxing drink, whilst taking in the craggy hillside views and natural waterfall as the sun goes down behind the Moelwyn Mountains.
Or get the early morning sun at the front and enjoy a cup of coffee before venturing out for the day.
The old slate mill, Melin Pant yr Ynn is a short walk from the cottage and is the earliest surviving slate mill in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Since its closure the mill has been converted into a private house, the home of Falcon Hildred, a renowned local artist.
Nowadays the mill, which is Grade II listed, is open to the public and contains an interesting collection of industrial artefacts and an exhibition of water colour drawings recording the historic town, quarries and dramatic landscape of Blaenau Ffestiniog.
The waterwheel can also be seen working, except in very dry conditions; it's well worth a visit.
The town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is only 1 mile away, a lovely slate mining town which is steeped in history and is proud of its heritage of slate and steam.
The town offers an array of shops, eating establishments and public houses.
The rugged craggy landscape is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by the Moelwyn and Manod mountain ranges.
Attractions in the area include the world-famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway, the Llechwedd slate caverns, which is now also the home of Antur Stiniog’s downhill mountain bike centre with world class downhill tracks and trails, Zip World Titan (the largest zip zone in Europe) and Zip World Caverns and Bounce Below (deep mine zip wires and the largest underground system of trampolines in the world!).
There are many more fantastic walks, lakes and waterfalls from the cottage, and the area is great for fishing, golfing and mountain biking, with Cadw sites, castles, the world-famous Italianate village and gardens of Portmeirion and many miles of sandy beaches are all within easy access.
Manod View is a superb base for exploring the Snowdonia National Park and the North Wales coast at any time of year.
