  • "The house was great."

The whole family enjoyed the stay. The house was clean and warm. The heating and facilities worked perfectly. We enjoyed using the game room and we would definitely book again. Highly recommend.

It was very clean and well presented. The games room was well used and the shuffle board was a wonderful surprise when we walked in. We had an amazing time in an amazing property.

  • "House was lovely."

Some of the bins in kitchen hadn't been emptied, one cooker was dirty. Was easily sorted by ourselves. Had a few issues with the oven and hob whilst cooking it kept turning it's self off.

Hi Bethan I am sorry you experienced issues. I am sure we could have addressed these issues had we been made aware but I am pleased you enjoyed the property nonetheless. Mark and the team Property Owner

  • "This is our 14th year of booking through Sykes cottages for a NY break in Wales and the Lloyd George is one our group had mixed feelings about."

We hired the whole property and in front of the house there was plenty of space for all of our cars where we had 7 cars. We are a family of 14 adults with 6 children between us and we like to have light walks, have movie afternoons, play games and cook good food. Some of these needs were met well, as the large open plan living/dining space was great for us. Plenty of seating (TV definitely needs to be bigger for the size of the room) but all in all its a great entertaining space. The games room is also great which provides a table tennis table in the hall, and an air hockey table and pool table in the main games room. Although the pool table we had was not the table on the pictures and was much more dated and masking tape down the side. The bedrooms were spacious and somewhat comfortable. Feedback here would be the pillows were all different , some being very thin and not enough for 2 each. The other issue is no chest of drawers in any of the rooms so we lived out of our suitcases as the only place to put clothes was on the rail provided with around 6 hangers provided. Also the travel cot left in the room for the baby was broken. We found a spare downstairs but this came with no sheets,we thankfully had our own. The last and biggest feedback we have is for the kitchen....where to start really. We knew straight away why a kitchen image wasn't on the website and why we had to email numerous times to finally get one. The kitchen isn't just visually unappealing (with a cupboard door hanging off) it lacks the facilities needed for cooking large meals for big groups and for us this is very important. We spend a lot if time in the kitchen on these holidays, cooking breakfast, preparing lunches, and making evening meals. We took our own roasting dishes and good job as there aren't any. There are plenty of pots and pans but big trays are needed. Also serving dishes. There are 4 or 5 large serving plates and 2 serving bowls but in the grand scheme of things when your serving for 14 adults, it wasn't ideal. Big serving spoons are also needed. The fridge/freezers are basic and small. One was battered on the outside and one missing shelving so we had to stack our food which again wasn't ideal. You couldn't use the doors to put milk or large bottles of drinks is as the wouldn't close so we had to lie these down in the fridge and again with missing shelves that wasn't easy. It was like fridge jenga. There is a chest freezer but we needed fresh food storage. The sink is tiny and we went out and bought our own washing bowl. There is also no access to a washing machine or dryer , a first for us as we have always had access to these in the properties we have stayed in. Suffice to say the tea towel provided were very dirty by the end of the week. Would we come again is the big question? Unfortunately with that kitchen, no, and looking at what the price is for the same time next year, well, huge improvements need to be made as this property does not meet luxury yet.

Hi Francesca I am sorry that you found issues with our kitchen. I am not sure how to respond. Had you contacted us we could have pointed out where these items are (they are clearly labelled). We like to think we have a flexible approach and could have provided more tea-towels (we standardly provide three)/fridges etc had these been requested. Not sure about the photo situation of the kitchen at Sykes but we certainly do on our website www.hugeholidayhomes.co.uk. While it may not quite be on the grand scale of the rest of the accomodation (not every room can have a stunning view) I believe it to be fully functional and ecxcellently placed for acces to the dining area. I would love to have the opportunity to welcome you back should you feel you wish to give us another chance. Mark Property Owner

  • "We had excellent contacts from both Sykes and the property manager Mark Sanders and Mark was on hand upon arrival to talk us through all the necessary bits and show us around."

The property was as advertised and in excellent order. The only constructive criticism would be a) the heating system is slightly inadequate in some rooms and took until the next 24 hours to be comfortable due to it being such a large property b) I think a set number of car park spaces need to be dedicated to Lloyd George quests in front of the property. We really enjoyed our stay.

Hi David Thank you for your kind feedback and we take on board the comments on heating and parking. Mark Property Owner

  • "The house was large yet comfortable and the bedrooms and bathrooms were particularly well appointed."

The games room was a great addition for family entertainment . The areas for improvement would be property management - there were a few issues that impacted on our enjoyment and we weren’t able to make contact with the owner to resolve them especially the heating and the fire alarm. No tv despite stating in the property details - there is access to Netflix only on the one provided - this needs to be stated in the instructions. Parking is shared and we found ourselves blocked in by other car owners from adjoining properties - a plan of the parking would be an advantage especially when arriving in the dark as there are no external lights on the road or properties. Additional items such as a hairdryer and serving dishes in the kitchen would be useful.

Thank you for your feedback. Apologies that the Lloyd George didn't live up to your expectations. We have had a few problems with the pump on the Biomass and its 'auto' function for sure but can easily overide which I beleive we did in good order and I remember speaking to you about the Fire Alarm and believe Daniel was on-site? Yes the TV is currently for internet use wich is a leased line with 200MB of guaranteed bandwidth so I will have to check on what is happening there (you are the second group to mention it). We do not provide hairdryers but there certainly should be stacks of serving dishes in the kitchen. Mark and the team Property Owner

  • "We have been staying in large holiday holiday for many years and unfortunately where disappointed with the Lloyd George."

There are many great things about the house, upstairs the bedrooms are wonderful, with fabulous ensuites and there is plenty of space and seating for large groups. However, the kitchen really let's the house down. It's tired, smelly and not what you'd expect from the rest of the house. There isn't enough fridge space for large groups and the kitchen was dirty when we arrived. We had to bleach everywhere, clean all the draws out and ask for the cleaner to come and clean the cookers, floor and bins, which they did the next day, however we had maggots in the bin a few days later. The WiFi isn't fit for use with the smart TV and either didn't work or kept cutting out. We also had no heating for the first night and had wasps in one bedroom which stung one of our guests. The issues were resolved by the maintenance team but we shouldn't have had these problems in the first place. It's a real shame the kitchen isn't as spectular as the bathrooms.

Hi Penny Thank you for your feedback on our LLoyd George. I am sorry the kitchen didn't live up to your expectations. I am pleased you appreciated the rest of the accomodation on offer and we shall certainly endevour to tighten up on our kitchen routine. Mark and the team. Property Owner

  • "We paid a substantial amount of money for our 5 day stay."

Three of the days the heating was not working as the heating is shared with other residents so we were left with no heating sitting in our coats whilst in the house. The internet again was shared and had no speed at all. Very poor overall as the accommodation becomes irrelevant when basic amenities are not even provided. The overall attitude from the maintenance team was that this is what we have and cant do anything about it. This is not what we paid for and feel robbed.

  • "This is an outstanding property!"

Lots of communal space and excellent facilities. Any minor issues were immediately resolved by an on-site staff member who provided us with a contact number as soon as we arrived. The communication with the owners was faultless, really informative and accommodating. The bedrooms are comfortable and spotless and all en suite, with additional toilets upstairs and downstairs. We didn’t need an accessible building but we were very impressed that this property is really accessible with ramps and a lift. There is some lovely attention to detail, the lighting particularly is really well done and can be adjusted to what you need. The photos of this property really don’t do it justice. It has brilliant practical features like the flooring, while maintaining grandeur and charm, the staircase and dining table in particular are lovely features. We have stayed in a number of big houses over the last few years but this is a firm favourite and excellent value for money.

Hey Emma, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a fabulous assessment of our latest baby! It’s been a long hard road over covid times but it really helps to hear our efforts are appreciated. Mark and the team Property Owner
