"The house was lovely."
But there was some issues Kitchen - had to wash all cutlery and glasses when arrived as all dirty. Bedrooms- rubbish in draws and wardrobes, when opening windows the room soon filled up with flies living in window sill. Hot tub was freezing when arrived. Bathroom- shower very poor quality, broken tiles on floor. The staff on site not very helpful didn't tell us what was about or on site. When we asked them for a table on our 2nd to last night was told to get a takeaway. So poor service from people on site not very approachable. The site it self was lovely nice woodland setting but no WiFi what so ever

"I have tried to email but."
.... We stayed at Woodlands Retreat from 25 September to 29 September 2024. Overall the property was OK BUT several things let it down. Heating was not working in the upstairs double bedroom and the bedroom with the ensuite - we were offered a room in the main hotel till it was fixed but we had unpacked by then. There were no bathmats There were no hand towels The kitchen was really poorly equipped - Only four bowls - house for 8 No grill pan Chipped mug Insufficient glasses Only one working light - and that was 40w The heating, towels, bowls and glasses were dealt with next day.?? No grill pan supplied - unable to get one?? The light was reported every day we were there, this meant taking the key to reception every time we went out and then collecting it again on our return... It was really a Health and Safety issue - a large dark kitchen with a 40w bulb. Guess what I did - I went to B & M on the Friday pm bought a pack of light bulbs and replaced it. We were having a family party on Saturday and I would have been unable to see to cook - dangerous. Smart TV but only works with WiFi - no WiFi. Some books No games We had booked this house and a caravan on the Lyons site for a big family party, my husband's 80th birthday - 8 adults and 4 children - because of the facilities on offer BUT no swimming pool, very small Adventure Playground. The staff at Lyons did their very best and were helpful but let down by your descriptions, and your inability to fix things quickly.

"Overall this wasn’t too bad a stay."
In some areas of the property you can see that an effort has been made to make the place nice, but then others really let it down. The nice touches are the modern walls with sign that light up. I read some reviews from earlier in the year about the cleanliness and lack of Wi-Fi but hoped that as many months had past, these would have been sorted by now, but disappointed to see this wasn’t the case. General dust, spiders and webs all, over the place. Floors down stairs very slippy with something on. The two back rooms are just dirty and empty and can’t see the point of them, plus the step is broken and dangerous. Reported an issue with the downstairs toilet light not working as soon as we checked in, but nothing was done all weekend. Main bedroom one of the blinds is broken and doesn’t stay closed. The hot tub wasn’t filled and put on in advance of our check in, so the first night it was still cold and wasted an evening using it. The beds were very noisy, coils and springs not good to sleep on. Radiator in the hall way leaking water. The house could be so lovely, if only somebody cared about it and the people that rent it out. It’s in a lovely spot, but needs lots of TLC. We made the most of it, but unless things are turned around and I would not recommend or return.

"This listing is incorrect there's no WiFi and the smart TV does not work."
On site facilities are also incorrect, there is no sauna or gym and the new swimming pool is not finished. Staff said it will be complete by end of the summer. The house needs maintenance. The step into the conservatory is broken and has sharp plastic sticking out. The cupboards in the conservatory are unsanitary, full of dirt and there's alot of dead bugs. The house has had a general clean but it needs a deep clean as it's full of cobwebs and in general is dirty. There's damp in the corner of the living room. When we arrived the hot water wasn't working so we had to fill the kettle several times to boil so my son could have a bath. The heating was on and thermostat set to 24c but still the house was cold. And hot tub was cold. We asked at reception and maintenance visited the same day to fix a leaking radiator, rectified the problem with the hot tub and the fixed the hot water problem. After mentioning no WiFi for second time, the staff did give us a portable WiFi box which worked for one day and intimitatly worked for the 3 days we were there. Staff were very friendly and the maintenance man visited the next day to make sure that everything was working OK. The garden isn't fully enclosed as fences are broken and new fence panels are just placed there Instead of being properly fitted. Once the swimming pool is built, it would be a nice park to visit as there's no much else on site. However we will not be returning and I would not recommend to anyone to stay in this house with the current condition it is in. It needs a good clean, some things fixed and it'd be better if they make use of the empty tiled office space next to the conservatory. It's a cold and empty dirty room with potential.

"We booked Woodlands retreat for our family of 8."
We thought the house was clean and comfortable and met most of our needs although kitchen equipment was limited. We like to cook as a family and seriously struggled with what was provided. We really liked the holiday park it was clean and the dog field and football pitch was a big hit.We would book this house again unfortunately the add on Sykes said the house had WiFi.It did not and of course this affected the smart tv as well.If you are considering booking this house you should check first with Sykes because their add is inaccurate.

"Overall, it was a very nice house."
However, there was a few issues. Despite being advertised the house has no WiFi and very little signal so data also doesn't work for the most part. The hall light is partially smashed, the hot tub was never maintained and became unusable by day 4. The location is beautiful and the park facilities are pretty nice. The conservatory side of the house also had not seen a hoover or cloth as it was covered in spider webs. The living/dining room was the highlight of the home and was a great size with comfortable seating for us all. All staff encountered were very nice however despite complaints about the hot tub, nothing ever happened even though promises were made.

RUTHIN
Llangollen 12 miles; Bala 18.5 miles; Chester 25 miles; Betws-y-Coed 30 miles.
The hilltop town of Ruthin lies to the north of Llangollen via the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass. The town is picturesque with attractive half-timbered buildings, mainly clustered around St Peter’s Square. There are many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by.
