  • "Bryn Ffynon is a lovely, clean, spacious, and comfortable home away from home."

The only thing lacking was the curtesy morning drinks, i.e. tea, coffee and sugar, and other basic provisions like salt and pepper, which are usually provided in all the other cottages we've hired. Despite that, we had a wonderful time here exploring the coastal walking routes and spending time at Felin Uchaf's lovely café. Coming home to a hot tub was a real treat! Thank you!

  • "In general, all was great."

Dave was very helpful and responsive when we had a couple of minor problems (key safe breaking; alarms going off). The family room is the real 'seller' in this property. It's a lovely space for a large group of people to enjoy a meal and just generally to be together without getting under each others' feet. The hot tub was a bonus too, and the house has a lovely feel to it. The views over the horizon to the sea were gorgeous and the children loved the games room. We were surprised to learn that we would not have access to the house before 5 pm on the day of arrival as this seemed rather late, but Dave was on site and was accommodating about this. We also thought it a tall order to vacate by 9 am on the day of departure - especially when young children are involved and chaos reigns! All in all, however, it was a very good experience in a lovely holiday house.

Short drive to Aberdaron with great pub on sea front. Additional outside space, hot tub and games room made this a great all-round property for any combination. Thanks to the owner Dave for helpful instructions and easy arrangements Recommended

  • "We had an excellent week at Bryn Ffynnon."

It is in a very peaceful setting but not too far to drive to beaches at Morfa Nefyn, Aberdaron and Abersoch. The weather was good but had it not been, the hot tub and games room are a great distraction. Garden is spacious and the extension to the original property has been very well done and makes an excellent light and airy living space. The sea view is a bonus and on one clear evening we could see the Irish coast (35 miles away!). Additional toilets and showers and extra fridge in outbuilding were also very welcome. We will definitely return.

The property was just like the listing stated. He allowed us to arrive early which was a great bonus. The property was presented excellently being cleaned to a great standard. One request we had was for a rolling pin which Dave managed to source within 10 minutes. The garden was a brilliant place to play and relax. Getting some amazing views in the evening. I couldn't have asked for more from the host. Apologies for leaving the food in the fridge/Freezer.

This property has been modernised by Dave the owner who we met on arrival, he has made a fantastic job of renovating the property which we stayed in for a week. We were a party of 8 adults (4 couples) and we literally wanted for nothing, Dave even provided us with two bottles of wine on arrival. The house was clean and tidy with fresh bed linen and towels. The kitchen was well equipped including Fridge, Freezer, Combi Oven, Oven and Dishwasher. The kitchen is also eqipped with an Arger, but unfortunatel this wasn't working when we stayed due to damage from previous occupants (it wasn't needed) The weather was miserable when we stayed, but we still found plenty to do including Velocity 2 the fastest Zip Wire in the world about an hours drive from the house. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it, we will be going back at some point.

Nice bottle of red on our arrival. The house itself is in a fantastic location to explore - we went to a different beach each day! The good bits: plenty of space, amazing family room, warm (great central heating), great views, quiet location, well equipped kitchen and the hot tub was a great addition. The not so good bits: mattresses very very soft, damp and peeling paint in ground floor bedroom.

The house is in a lovely spot and has been maintained well. Kitchen/dining area was where we spent most time indoors, the fire pit and bbq were appreciated for use in the evenings. It is a great base to explore the Llyn Penisula and our teenagers loved the hot tub & games room. Dave was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave us a very warm welcome to start our holiday. I think as has been mentioned previously, an outdoor washing line for drying clothes and beach towels etc. is the only thing we felt was missing (there is a freestanding maiden but it wasn’t big enough for everything we had after a beach trip!) Thanks for a great stay, we would definitely return and recommend

Thanks for your feedback. We have now installed a rotary clothes drier in the garden for guests to use. Property Owner

  • "Original cottage we booked in N Yorkshire became unavailable due to a leak and Sykes were very quick and helpful in finding a number of possible alternatives."

We chose Bryn Ffynnon in Wales. We found the area really enjoyable with excellent walks on the Welsh Coastal Path. There are some very good beaches close by such as Whistling Sands which has facilities and free parking if you are a NT member. Coastal towns vary but we enjoyed Porthmadog particularly and then Abersoch. Portmeirion of course worth a visit and there is some good walking in the wooded areas with views across to Porthmadog. Bryn Ffynnon was comfortable and very well equipped. The old part of the house has the bedrooms, bathrooms and snug and the extension is a fabulous and large kitchen, diner and family room with extensive views towards the sea though the hedgeline does impact a little. There is a good log burner in the snug. The central heating is controlled by Hive in the kitchen (it doesn't get a signal in the old house) and the kitchen is warmer than the rest of the house. We found it best to turn down the radiators in the kitchen and turn up the temperature on Hive to get the snug radiators to work well. Games room with pool, air hockey and darts provides fun and the hot tub relaxation. The hot tub lid is heavy and a bit awkward so be careful, an area for improvement. Also note you are expected to check the hot tub water yourself (not sure the test strips were in date and they only had three test tabs whereas the comparison chart on the tub showed four) and then add chemicals appropriately. You do need to read the instructions on the chemical tubs carefully. For anyone who finds stairs difficult the access from the drive to the house is flat and there is downstairs bedroom with ensuite. Wife says BEWARE no hair dryer.

The property

Aberdaron 4.8 miles.

A characterful family farmhouse resting in Bryncroes on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales, Bryn Ffynnon is a delightful detached house sleeping eight guests.

Thanks to the addition of a modern extension, the house enjoys many spacious living spaces, and even has an external games room to enjoy.

Be welcomed into the open-plan living space where a backdrop of distant sea views greets you from behind the large glass picture windows next to the sitting area, creating a tranquil spot to wind down.

Gather around the large dining table in here beneath the feature lighting and large beamed ceiling, after cooking up something delicious in the beautiful kitchen, where a stylish kitchen island presents a great spot to open up a bottle and toast to your holiday.

Follow the vintage tiled floor of the hallway into the sitting room, here you can find a woodburning stove, Smart TV and sofa arrangement, all you need for a quiet night in.

For endless fun head outside and find the external games room, a brilliant space filled with air hockey, Wii, table football and darts Next to this is an external utility room with two shower rooms, so you can come straight from the beach and wash off the sand.

The long stretch of garden is perfect for children to play and your four-legged friend to run around, watch over them as you relax on the outdoor seating set behind a glass screen, sheltering you from any wind, or take a relaxing dip in the large hot tub in this tranquil setting.

Back in the main house, find four lovely bedrooms, with one double bedroom on the ground floor complete with an excellent en-suite shower room, while upstairs you can choose from another double, a twin or a bunk room, served by a family bathroom on this floor too.

Bryn Ffynnon enjoys a fantastic rural position on 'Snowdon's arm' but is still close to the Llyn Heritage Coast where you can find little ports, beaches, bays and sea cliffs to explore.

Head down to the fishing village of Aberdaron, once the last stop for pilgrims on the way to Bardsey Island, or 'Isle of 20,000 Saints' which is now a National Nature Reserve, this delightful village has a beautiful beach which is excellent for watersports, or take a boat trip out to Bardsey Island and catch sight of the amazing birdlife and seals, with dolphins sometimes seen here too!

Abersoch is another must-visit, this fashionable seaside resort is perfect for sailing and watersports and has a sheltered harbour and pretty beach, with a great selection of eateries and bistros here too.

Take a photo of the famous and very photogenic beach huts in Llanbedrog before taking a look around the art centre and gallery Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw.

Beautiful walks can be had around the coast by following the Wales Coast Path to explore the 'Land's End of Wales' with the routes easily broken down into shorter segments between each village.

Llyn's 'capital' of Pwllheli with its exceptional marina and sailing waters, Nefyn with its Maritime Museum and the tranquil scenery of Porthdinllaen all present even more excellent days out.

Bryn Ffynnon will be the perfect setting for a family holiday to North Wales.
