"A lovely cottage, in a stunning location."
Only a couple of minor issues: - there were six guests and only five towels. They were clean, but white, so therefore showed a couple of stains. - the lights kept tripping out; we were unable to contact anyone about this, even when we drove out of the valley for a phone signal, as the number was for office hours only (it was a Sunday). We sorted this ourselves though, through a process of elimination, and just left the kitchen lounge lights off. Otherwise, a well-equipped property in a stunning location; fantastic Wifi too, so keeping in touch with relatives back home wasn't an issue. Many thanks!

"The cottage is situated in a wonderful location with stunning views and in easy access of Snowdonia and the surrounding area/places of interest."
The main drawbacks were [a] the lack of a mobile phone signal but this was somewhat compensated for by the internet access and [b] the lack of a normal TV signal as it was operated via the internet and required such things as your own Netflix password or ITVX details, etc., all of which I don't subscribe to which restricted what was available in the evening.
We are sorry the lack of mobile signal and access to programmes affected your stay. We are situated in one of the most beautiful and most photographed valleys in Wales and because we are between two mountains there is little mobile signal but communication can still be made via WhatsApp etc. There is no normal tv signal. However as stated in the description of the property there is brilliant fibre to the premises and a smart tv. Subscribing to ITV X and BBC i player is free for those who don’t already subscribe to other providers. Property Owner

"Thank you for a lovely stay!"
The cottage was warm and clean with everything we needed and we particularly enjoy the board games provided!
-
"Lovely cottage perfectly situated for walking whether it's Watkins (avoid weekends) or to bedgelert & it had a garden up some steps for eating out with great views."
We had children & so long as they were supervised had no problems . It is tight but we managed 3 cars parked off the road.

"Great cottage in a super location, with Beddgelert just down the road and less than 20-30 minutes from everything we wanted to do in and around the hills (other than surfing on the Llyn peninsula)."
The rooms were all lovely and having the sitting room was a real bonus, as everyone had somewhere to go for peace if they wanted it. We would definitely go back there and my father might be booking based on our recommendation!

"We loved the cottage, fantastic location for getting to everywhere from Abersoch to the hills."
Lots of lovely touches - dad enjoyed the Bara Brith!

Great cottage for enjoying the various walks in the area & the garden has great views over the mountains when having an outdoor BBQ

"The cottage is in a great location for visiting all around North West Wales."
Despite being next to a road, it was quiet. It is really a cottage best suited to those wanting a base to walk in the area and relax and the boot room was useful. We really enjoyed walking around the lakes as well as up Yr Wyddfa. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. With five adults, we just about had enough room in the kitchen/lounge area so it would probably be uncomfortable with six adults. Parking for two cars was a plus point. Overall, we had a lovely holiday based in Llys Elen. The bath was lovely to relax in at the end of the day. Only one negative which is easily fixed - the towels didn’t smell nice even though they were clean.

"We had a very lovely stay."
The A road is fairly quiet, especially at night. Two bedrooms face the road and one faces the back garden, but no one had issues with traffic noise as the windows are double glaze. Most of the A roads in the area have a number of sections where it is single lane or very narrow to pass oncoming traffic (unlined sections).. so be aware if you have a larger vehicle. Great off street parking, two spots which is ideal if you have one car as you can turn around prior to getting back onto the A road, as it’s a fast section on a curve right outside the house. House is comfortable and clean, cozy places to hang out and comfortable beds. The downstairs bathroom is also a mud room for damp jackets and hiking boots, and will dry them over night so they will be ready for the next day. It's also the perfect place for drying your laundry on the clothes horse!

"Property in lovely location, with walks from the doorstep."
Snowdon and many paths a short ride away. Cottage has plenty of room with three double size bedrooms and heated up well once heating was on. Kitchen had all utensils/equipment needed. Cottage was cold when we arrived and had a little damp smell - it had been raining non stop! A maintenance issue - CO alarm low battery -was quickly sorted by managing agents. A couple of minor niggles - microwave was broken and needs fixing - but overall didn't detract from the stay we had. My only further comment is traffic is generally light whilst we stayed here but it was also fast and the cottage is just after a corner so take care exiting the cottage onto the road.

"A lovely stay in a perfect location."
Having stayed in many other cottages in the area there are a few things that could be improved to bring Llys Elen up to the same standard. The main tv room desperately needs a rug. The tiled floor is beautiful but very cold underfoot. A bag of logs and fire lighters were left for the fire but there was no kindling. Fire-lighters alone would have made it hard to get the fire going ( so we didn’t try ) All the lights on the washing machine kept flashing. We had to switch the power off to make it stop and open the door - it may need looking at. Also a washing basket to carry wet washing out to the line would be useful. A proper pan scourer/ brush is needed for cleaning cooking pans. I was surprised there was not soap in every bathroom and extra toilet rolls have always been provided in other cottages. A hair dryer would also be nice Having said all this we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was warm and cosy, plenty of hot water, a well equipped kitchen a gorgeous garden, superb location that we would be happy to return to ( but only if there was a rug on the tiled floor!! )
We have had the washing machine checked and it is working perfectly. Full instructions are found in the appliance folder provided. We are sorry to hear that you were lacking kindling for the wood burner, a pan-scourer and that one of the bathrooms lacked soap in the dispenser. This will be raised with the cleaning team. After 2 years of letting no one has raised the lack of a rug on the tiled floor as an issue. A rug is not provided as this could constitute a trip hazard. Also as an area with outstanding hiking we have tried to cater for boots and wet weather clothing. The front lounge is fully carpeted. Property Owner

"Fabulous location."
Only used the car on one occasion to drive to the coast. So many walks direct from the door. The route in white folder where number 1 is at Coed Craflywn is a particularly pleasant one. We walked to the top of Y Lliwedd starting at the Watkin path. Bit of a scramble to the top but a great walk. Lovely comfortable cottage

"Gales, thunderstorms and -10 wind chill kept us off the high peaks but we had a wonderful time walking around the lakes, forests and low mountain passes."
Thoroughly enjoyed steam train trips from Porthmadog to Caernarfon Castle and to Blaenau Ffestiniiog. Our second visit to Llys Elen and the cottage was as beautifully presented as before. Wonderful location and perfectly equipped facilities. Thank you

Cottage was cosy for us all, especially with some fire on the colder days.

"Had a lovely Christmas break in Llys Elen."
The weather was very wet & windy but we expected that and enjoyed a restful break instead. Managed a boxing day climb up Snowdon with the two boys aged 9 & 6 so very proud of them! Thankyou for the beautifully decorated Xmas tree and decorations. We had everything we needed, including replacement light bulbs! Log burners were lovely & well used. We were aware of the situation with the TV being for DVD's only, but the mention of ' Wifi for streaming ' had us believe we could stream via the TV. Sadly not , but not a huge problem. Thank you for a lovely stay! Beautifully clean!

We had some great adventures, including summiting Snowdon twice and exploring nearby villages.

"Thanks for an amazing place to stay, we will definitely be back."
Unfortunately the curtain rail in the front bedroom must have been very loose, because when closing curtains it fell down.

"Lovely cottage in a fantastic location."
The kids loved the DVD collection. We did put the bins out, but I don't think they were collected. The views from your cottage are great. We've had a great time! Thank you

"We've just returned from an amazing week at Llys Elen."
Everything was beautiful and the little Welsh cakes and milk for a cuppa were a treat after a long journey. The view from the garden of the Watkin path up Snowdon was fabulous. Will definitely be back!

"As we were here on a photography break, we have to say the cottage is in a perfect location, between two beautiful lakes."
For the most part the conditions and weather have been excellent, much better than expected. We loved the cottage and its facilities. We can thoroughly recommend the Prince Llewelyn hotel for food, meals are well cooked and plentiful. Heating & Wifi were fantastic too. Hope to stay again soon :-)

"Great place however would have been great to have a smart tv as broadband so good we could have streamed tv on set rather than iPads A tv in the front lounge would have been great Curtains or blinds to front road windows we had issues with young walkers peering in at night be great with a blind at least so a bit scary we did feel like a goldfish."
But all said superb place Really well insulated and warm

"Was a curtain, rail and holder down in one bedroom on Saturday arrival."
There was a difficulty contacting Menai over the weekend as poor phone signal and email address would have been useful. When contacted Jason soon fixed the problems, including a number of different light bulbs. Spare bulbs and communication wold obviate similar problems. Otherwis a good property for our stay.

"We have had a fantastic week at Llys Elen (how exciting to be your first guests)!"
The room layout was just right for our adult family of 4. We have enjoyed many walks from the house- your suggested routes were a good place to start- with the variety of mountains, forest, lake and farmland that the low and mid-level walks give. Particular highlights were the waterfall down the road and the ice-cream shop in Beddgelert. We also found time to read in the 'quiet' lounge, DVDs, games and have enjoyed the beautiful garden; a haven for bees and butterflies. We hope your future guests have as much fun as we have.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a lovely review. We are so pleased that you and your family enjoyed the cottage and area as much as we do. Thank you for being brilliant guests! Property Owner
