  • "Great house for a large family gathering."

Well equipped especially in the kitchen. Being an old house there are a few bits and pieces not quite working right, like lots of light bulbs off and the heating system coming on and off at at weird times, but an accommodating owner and masses of room made up for all that! It would have been good to be able to let the dogs roam outside but the gates are not working so the dogs had to remain on leads. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this house for large family groups. We were six adults and two children under five plus two dogs.

  • "The owner Nigel is very nice and very helpful."

The property is lovely and spacious. Quiet and well situated. Warm and well furnished. Beds clean and comfortable. My only suggestion for improvement would be that the kitchen needs to be better equipped with fresh pans and trays of better quality and cleaner kitchen equipment. A pint of milk on arrival would have been nice, for that all important cup of tea after a long drive, but prosecco was left which was kind! I hope that this is helpful. It is a lovely place to stay would recommend.

  • "Our family of 11 enjoyed our stay."

The house is quiet and clean, a bit gloomy (it’s an old house so the windows are small) but it has every facility you could wish for. The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathrooms and showers were very modern and efficient. The hot tub was used daily as was the games room (the spiders……!!). The welcome gifts of Prosecco and cake were a nice touch. There is a superb fishing facility right next door, and a pleasant county walk across the fields and footpaths. The only cons were the oven - if you want to cook e.g. frozen chips for a large family you should allow way more time than usual, even on the highest setting. You should also be aware that the house is land-locked - there are no pavements if you want to walk to the village, so you need a car to go anywhere, and the village shop prices are sky-high, so make sure you do a big shop at the nearest supermarket in Chester. Overall however, it is a pleasant place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

All the home comforts you could ask for and gates on the garden so our four legged friend could potter around on his own. Fantastic location near Chester, Wrexham and Welsh beaches. Added bonus for us was having calves and lambs as neighbours in the adjoining field.

  • "Lovely little farm cottage - was spacious, homely, kept to a clean standard inside the cottage and outside on the grounds."

As we were two families with 7 children of various ages from 6 weeks old to 16 years old, all children were entertained and loved their stay. There’s a little entertainment area outside with a mini pool table and table tennis which the kids enjoyed and went outside to play with regularly. We spent 2 days out and visited Knowsley Safari Park (45 mins away) and the Ice Cream Farm (10 minutes away - a lovely little establishment for families with young children and would highly recommend visiting). We really couldn’t fault the farm cottage as it had all the amenities needed to enjoy our stay and be home from home, so the only little critique I would suggest to make the accommodation more family friendly is I would love to see a little park area outside for the little ones to go on and let off steam for when the adults just want to stay at the cottage to chill and relax as that would’ve helped to keep the kids entertained a little more…but apart from that, we really couldn’t fault our staycation and would highly recommend to friends and family. We’ve always believed on visiting different places to explore and enjoy but we would come back here as we loved it that much.

  • "Lovely property with ample space for us all."

The owner lives next door and was very helpful and friendly throughout our visit; although the property is very private and the owners did not impose themselves on us. Great to have the hot tub to unwind in each day. Loads of dog friendly places to eat nearby. A visit to Rhyl miniature railway and marine crabbing lake recommended if you have small children. Chester zoo and Chester were lovely places to visit. Snowdon is about an hour and a half away. Go well prepared if you're climbing. Wrexham cinema- £5 a ticket! Amazing value. Applegate antiques just up the road also has Harrybows dog friendly cafe. Great breakfast and amazing cakes! Lillys cafe a short drive away, also dog friendly and some lovely toasties. A short walk to the river Dee and iron bridge from the cafe. Cheshire Cat, good pub grub and dog friendly. We were 10 adults, 2 young children, 3 babies and 2 dogs and we enjoyed the property and surrounding area.

  • "A beautiful very well appointed house."

The photos don’t actually do it justice! The bathrooms are spectacular and all the bedrooms have lovely curtains and linens. The beds are incredibly comfortable. The whole house is immaculate and very well equipped. We were unlucky enough to have a power outage on our first night but the owner, who is really helpful and friendly, brought candles and torches when we alerted him to the issue. The power problem also meant that the hot tub wasn’t usable for the first 24 hours, as it hadn’t heated sufficiently before the power went off at 9pm, and didn’t reach temperature until mid afternoon on our 2nd day, which was very disappointing for our grandchildren. The owner however offered us an additional night but we weren’t able to take advantage of the offer due to school and work commitments. We had a wonderful family time overall though and would definitely recommend this lovely house.

The size of this place is amazing! Having such big rooms, and so many bathrooms is a real plus when staying away with so many people (11 in total). We loved the hot tub, which is always ready to go, so no waiting around for it to warm up. The beds were really comfy and showers were lovely and hot. The kitchen and dining room is such a good size and a great place for socialising. The kitchen had literally everything you need. We loved our welcome package when we arrived, that was a really nice touch and means so much that the hosts thought about the small details. We took our dog and 3 children and they absolutely loved seeing all the animals so close everyday. The only thing I would say is if your dog is quite young, make sure to shut the gate closest to the games room. Leading onto the games room, this was a hit for all the family and kept us occupied for hours. The location was great, close to Chester and many other places, but far enough that you get the peace and quiet of the countryside. We really loved our stay here and would definitely recommend!

The property is in a great spot for those wanting a real country setting, and despite being positioned on a working farm, you would hardly know at times. The landlord (Nigel) popped round to check everything was going ok, and was kind enough to invite the children within our party on a mini tour of the farm. The house is well-equipped and made hosting the whole group practically stress free. The local village has a couple of good pubs and cafes and is a pleasant place to visit (albeit around 5km away). The hot tub was a real bonus and a good way to unwind after a day's exploring. We absolutely would have no hesitation in booking again!
