"My friends and I loved our stay here."
It was a perfect size for all 8 of us and is really well looked after. The outside kitchen ended up being where we spent most of our time because it was so cosy even when it was raining outside. The hot tub and poolroom is also a nice touch. The place is only a few minutes drive from places like betws y coed, zip world and there are plenty of waterfalls and walks nearby. The only issue with the place is that the main shared bathroom didn’t lock which was a little awkward with my friends but everything else is perfect.

And the Jacuzzi was incredible for our sore legs after the climb. Also the games room was an added bonus. Lovely welcome gifts were much appreciated. Fantastic hot tub which we used each evening to chill and relax and an unexpected superb new BBQ and seating area. The boys loved the pool table. We loved the location and had some great day trips including Llandudno and Snowdon, Bala lake and the Llyn peninisula. The cottage was lovely and clean and had all the equipment needed for cooking etc .
There was a brand new BBQ area with seating under cover which wasn’t mentioned in the cottage info , the BBQ was gas
The photos advertised don’t do the Cottage justice , they could do with being updated
The double bedroom downstairs was a very small double but it does have its own toilet and shower , the twin room and double upstairs have to share and the very large bedroom upstairs has its own

"Maes Madog is in a lovely situation with great views and splendid bird life."
The old farmhouse has been extended with a modern kitchen, and when the heating failed (it was a cold week with snow - in April!) the owner was helpful and ensured the issue was fixed swiftly. Where we felt let down was in the description of the en suite in the upstairs double bedroom, which clearly stated there was a WC when in fact there wasn't. This led to a lack of privacy which was not ideal in a multi-generational holiday. As is often the case in holiday homes there was no food storage space other than the fridge/freezer, this is a common complaint. Overall we were happy with the accommodation and enjoyed our stay, and the hot tub was a great success (and so well maintained).

"Great property in the middle of the Countryside."
Lots of free parking. Property warm with good facilities and spacious rooms. Hot tub was very enjoyable with fatastic views. Would recommend.
Items that need attending to:
Front door sticks on floor, hard to open
Poor lighting from front doot to carpark
Wall to upstairs WC has glazing so people can see inside when you are inside
No storage space in kitchen for food as all cupboards etc. are full of glasses, plates, pots etc. only fridge available
Few hooks to bathrooms to hang clothes
No trays for soap, shampoo to showers
No place to put toiletries in downstair bathroom have to put on the floor
Thank you for your review I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for all your recommendations. The locksmith is booked for tomorrow to look at the door, there is lighting outside the switch was in the lounge. We also try and use dark sky friendly lighting. I will rearrange the cupboards in the kitchen because there is plenty of food storage space. There is a cupboard under the sink in the downstairs bathroom to keep toiletries. As you stated the property is in the middle of the countryside, only cows and sheep from the field will be able see in through the window. Thank you Jane

We loved the hot tub and pool table and the photos on Sykes didn't do it justice as there have been a number of improvements including a new en-suite and canopy over the hot tub. One of the pool cues were broken. Some kitchen utensils needed replacing and needs a bigger frying pan. We booked the farm house where no pets were allowed on reading guests comments some had allowed the neighbours cat into the house and my brother is allergic to the. I do feel that a dryer needs to put in the house we had to put wet washing on the radiators. There were logs for the Woodburner but we had to go to the village shop to buy kindle and fire lighters. "Maes Madog is like a little treasure trove!"
Location wise it is fantastic for exploring Snowdonia, albeit it is a very small, narrow, extremely steep hill you go up to get to the property (all part of the adventure).
We had a Tesco delivery to supply us with all our food and drink for our visit. There are small Spar Supermarkets in the villages but you need to go to Porthmadog or Bangor to get to the bigger supermarkets.
The rooms are lovely and spacious, yet cosy at the same time. Lots of period features including the original stove in the pool room, a wood burner, lovely wooden furniture in the bedrooms contrasted with modern kitchen and bathrooms.
The hot tub was a super treat. I was adamant that visiting in February, we wouldn't me making use of it. Oh was I so wrong, I was the first one in there every night and the whole group of us used it each day.
The kitchen has all the equipment you need to be able to stay in a cook evening meals for 8 and the dishwasher also meant breakfast dishes could be washed and ready for evening meals. Good size fridge freezer and the hob and oven were amazing - 4 gas rings, a griddle, a warmer, 2 ovens and a grill and a warming drawer for the plates!
The only down side I would say is if you are above 5'3" be prepared to keep ducking your head to get through doorways. This is a 300 year old cottage, what do you expect!
