  • "Capel Cottage is a beautiful Welsh cottage which was presented spotlessly clean and with a delightful welcome pack."

Views all around the cottage are stunning and amazing walks can be started from the cottage (one hour walk to Conwy over the hill) with spectacular views. We loved the outdoor spaces front and back which were peaceful with seating areas to relax after a busy day. The cottage had everything you need and nothing you didn't, we took advantage of the spice rack, coffee maker and ice cubes which was great. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in and the sun room attached to the bedroom was a fabulous little space to play card games or read. Parking was never an issue and the pub next door was busy but never obtrusive. Only feedback to mention was no welcome information which told us of general house info. In addition the shower curtain situation was cheap and is not up to the standard of the rest of the property and needs reviewing. But I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others. We were sad to leave and are definitely planning on returning!

  • "Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting."

The cottage has some beautiful original features but has all the modern amenities you could ask for. There were some low ceilings but the description on the website made us aware of that, despite this my 6'4" husband did not bang his head once. Lovely welcome pack on arrival with lovely goodies and a nice bottle of wine. We will definitely be back as we didn't get a chance to use the log burner with it being August. Wonderful back garden with only the sounds of the birds and running water of the stream running down from the Fairy Glen. It made for a very relaxing stay in what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas of Wales.

  • "We had a wonderful stay."

The place is perfectly situated on the edge of snowdonia (a short walk up the hill and you have incredible views) and just a few minutes drive from Conwy’s gorgeous beach. It’s also two doors from a lovely pub and there’s a great play area for the kids seconds away. Be aware (although if you’ve looked properly at the listing you will be) it is small. Ideal for us as a family with 2 kids but if you went as 2 couples you would need to get on very well… and parking can get a bit tricky when the pub is busy. I liked touches like the spices to use, logs for the fire plus there are some fun spaces for the kids to discover but the shower rail/curtain need some adjusting.

Lovely old cottage very comfortable indeed in a very nice area not far from Conway town, quite Village with a tidy pub and was only 2 doors away from Capel cottage which was great, only down side was the old fashion shower which we struggled with a shower curtain around you sticky to you when you shower not much room and we are not very big, needs updating, that’s all, maybe a shower unit instead of this old shower over a bath , otherwise everything was good indeed, nice bedrooms, also 2 toilet s , upstairs one in bathroom and the other build into the corner of the back bedroom, fantastic Carole x Hywel Happy holiday s guys,

We had four wonderful hill walks right from the door. The leather sofas were very comfy and the TV screen was big!

The pub as good as next door was superb, a decent menu and very nice food, no need to go too far to eat! For late October the weather was quite kind as well, a real bonus. Parking on the road opposite was very easy and it's a lightly used route. Would recommend.

  • "Such a cosy cottage with all amenities you could possibly need for a short or long stay."

The cottage has so much character, is comfy and was a pleasure to stay in. The host was so helpful throughout our stay also, from offering more fire wood to clean towels. Thank you for much for having us and for our treats on arrival, they were much appreciated. Our only criticism would be the shower over the bath, we found it to be not very practical with water leaking on to flooring.

  • "We found the cottage to be very quaint and tidy."

A perfect location as a base to explore the areas around. For the 2 of us it was fine other than the bed being a little bit small for us. We are used to a super king sized bed but the peaceful village was wonderful. Our friends joined us a bit later and also loved the quaitness of it. They did find the en suite a little bit tight so we shared the larger bathroom for the most part. There were welcome teabags, coffee, wine, milk on arrival to use if we wished. Literally a few steps away to the pub. Parking along a brick wall on the main road but all safe and secure. Lovely, lovely stay. Thank you.

  • "The cottage is in a beautiful village."

The location of the village and the walks around the area are breath taking. We were concerned when we booked that there maybe noise from the pub, but this was never an issue even on Friday and Saturday nights. There is a wonderful golf club about a mile from the property with views over the mountains and out to sea which are amazing. Non members can use the course, but you need your own clubs. Overall the property is as you see from the photos. It was of the standard we were expecting and on all the surface areas you can see the property is very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need. There is parking at the front of the cottage. On arriving we had to move a bedside cabinet. This revelled carpet moths and their larva. The property had an infestation of carpets moths. This spoilt our whole week, (we had to hoovered the whole house, but the hoover had very limited suction) we could not unpack, kept all our clothes in suitcases or took them to the car, in fear that we would take moth larva back to our home. Once home we spent hours hoovering our cases, shaking out all our clothes in the garden and then had to wash everything we had taken. The experience was very stressful and upsetting. We sincerely hope the owners replace the carpets. You can not morally rent a property with moth infected carpets. Once this issue is resolved the property is ideal for exploring this area of North Wales.

  • "We just came back from our family holiday in Wales."

The cottage was spot on! Great location to be able to go anywhere in North Wales. We stayed a week, we enjoyed to visit the most sightseeing places and local beach. Also lots of walking path around there, so we walked to Conwy through Conwy mountain and back different route. Cottage was charming and cosy. Completely different from our house (ours normal semi-detached) so we just loved it! All facilities there for cooking. But local pub was just in 10 seconds! That was handy. They served good pub foods. We were out there for 2 meals. Welcome gift from owner was touching. We recommend this cottage definitely!

Thank you Karen for being such a lovely host. My friend and I enjoyed a week in the cottage which met all our needs. We loved sitting in both the front and back gardens - meaning we could have sunshine at any time. The cottage is spotlessly clean, the beds very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Five stars. Highly recommended.

  • "I already new the area and had stayed in another cottage last year less than 100 yards away."

The location was the only thing the two holiday homes had in common, as Capel Cottage is a lovely quirky holiday home, which still had all the warmth and comfort of a welsh cottage (including a wood burner), but also plenty of light available with the sun room and a lovely raised garden area. The Fairy Glenn (pub just around the corner) served a reasonable comprehensive menu, reasonably priced and had fantastic friendly staff. I don't drive, but it's only a short walk (15 mins) to get busses into Conwy or Llandudno (about every 20 mins during the day), I'd strongly recommend the cottage, but perhaps not too strongly as I'd love to visit again and don't want it to be fully booked!

About the location

CAPELULO

Penmaenmawr 1.5 miles; Conwy 2.5 miles; Llandudno 10 miles.

Capelulo is a small village on the North Wales coast between Penmaenmawr and Conwy. The village is in an elevated position with both mountain and sea views and is home to a pub and an Austrian restaurant. Set on the side of the Tal-Y-Fan mountain, Capelulo enjoys stunning views across Conwy Bay to Llandudno, Anglesey and the Irish Sea, and if you are lucky, dolphins can sometimes been see playing in the bay. Capelulo is just a couple of miles from Penmaenmawr, an old quarrying town now adapted into a delightful community stretching along this stunning coastline, yet retaining much of its Victorian architecture, with many local pubs, restaurants and shops, a superb golf course and golden, sandy beaches. A recently opened cycle path leads along the coastal path to Conwy Marina to the East, and Llanfairfechan to the west. Or, head up the Conwy valley through the Sychnant Pass on to the mountain trails that abound there. The sailing club in Penmaenmawr is well established and welcomes day guests, as does the 9 hole golf course, set amongst stunning coastal scenery on the lower slopes of the village. On the promenade you will find numerous activities such as a skate park, bowling green and all weather tennis courts as well as a beach café in the summer.
