The village of Llanfachraeth, lies on Anglesey’s west coast and is named after a sixth century saint, St Machraeth. The village is set on the banks of the river Alaw, which flows from the Llyn Alaw reservoir, where it is possible to fish for coarse and game fish and salmon. Amidst spectacular cliffs and sandy beaches, this small village provides a local shop and pub, while the surrounding countryside boasts excellent fishing, birdwatching and coastal walks, with climbing on offer on the mainland in Snowdonia.
