    The property was in excellent condition and excellently appointed. The property was well coordinated throughout and it oozed quality. The welcome pack was very generous and enjoyed by all. Ian and Catherine tremendously helpful and quick to respond to our help with the car charger. The location was perfect with the whole of Anglesey and North Wales on the door step. Nobody can go there without a visit Newborough Beach and Llanddwyn Island, by far the most beautiful place ever.

    Beautifully presented with everything you need. Everything was high end…felt like a real home away from home. The owners were communicative but not intrusive & left us the most lovely welcome gift. We will definitely be booking again.

  • "What a beautiful property!"

    No expense has been spared to make this cottage a home from home and totally comfortable. Very quiet. Great location for exploring the local area and easy to access the roads to explore further afield. The welcome pack for ourselves and our dog was much appreciated. Communication from the owner was perfect. The front and back outside spaces are dog friendly particularly for small/medium dogs. Keep an eye on larger dogs, or those who like to jump walls, as there are a couple of lower sections of the wall. Will definitely be returning.

    Ideally located to explore the island of Anglesey and in a lovely peaceful spot. The cottage was immaculately clean on our arrival. The cottage was located close to Newborough beach and other lovely forest walks. I would definitely stay in this cottage again and would recommend to others.

  • "Wow. Stunning property in a beautiful quiet location."

    Immaculate, very well equipped, no expense spared, both inside and out. A lovely, generous welcome pack on arrival and a generous stock of basics. Very comfortable, with secure rear and front gardens, with plenty of seating in both. Loved the property so much that I cant wait to go back and have recommended it to my son's family, as it would be ideal with their small child and dog.

  • "The listing was not clear that the property comes with a fully enclosed private rear garden as well as a front terrace."

    Whilst the rear garden is not particularly big it surely a big positive for families with young children or pets and could be made more prominent on the property description ! This is a property that the owners really do keep in tip top condition. Probably the best property we have stayed at in over thirty years of regular self catering.

  • "Had an amazing stay with my family."

    What a beautiful lodge we had everything we needed and way more. The location was perfect would highly recommend & Close the beach which is beautiful . The only down side for us was it wasn’t as dog friendly as we would of liked only because we had to keep him on the lead when letting him in the garden due to the back wall being to low & also at the front of the property. Other than that we would highly recommend. Thank you so much for our lovely stay xx

The property

Gwel y Rhos is a characterful, stone-built property situated on the majestic Isle of Anglesey, a few moments away from the village of Newborough.

This all-ground-floor accommodation is well-equipped for a family seeking to explore all of the delights that this corner of North Wales has to offer.

Upon entering the property, be charmed by the wonderful blend of old and new, with the exposed beams framing the contemporary furnishings that rest in front of a traditional woodburning stove.

Joining the sitting area is the well-equipped kitchen, where you will find everything you could possibly need to cater your own delicious meals during a week-long break with loved ones, in addition to the added benefit of a coffee machine, dishwasher and a washing machine.

As the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a super king-size bed, a king size bed and a twin beds, each designed to ensure a flexible sleeping arrangement to suit the needs of your group and ample storage and space to house all of your personal belongings.

If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic base, head to the village of Newborough, where you will find a cafe, a pub, a shop, with Post Office and the wonderfully named chippy, the Cod Mother.

To keep you busy whilst staying here, venture slightly further to Newborough Beach where you will find opportunities for swimming, canoeing, beachcombing and birdwatching, as well as strolling to the picturesque Llanddwyn Island.

Other attractions within the area that the whole family will be delighted with includes the National Nature Reserve, the Anglesey Sea Salt and the city of Bangor.

The small village of Newborough (Welsh spelling: Niwbwrch) lies on the edge of forests and dunes at the south west corner of Anglesey. Close by is Llanddwyn Bay, renowned as one of the finest beaches in Britain, ideal for swimming, canoeing, beachcombing and birdwatching or just relaxing! Behind the beach, the 1500 acre sand dune system of Newborough Warren is home to skylarks, meadow pipits and oyster catchers as well as toads and lizards and is protected as a National Nature Reserve. The Tan y Foel horse riding centre is within 3 miles of the village centre and Anglesey Sea Zoo, Foel Farm and the Anglesey Sea Salt are only a short drive away and make a fun day out for the whole family. Nearby Aberffraw is the home of the Anglesey racing track and will offer an exciting day.
