"Clean & tidy brilliant location"
-
"The property was as described on the website."
It is ideally situated for exploring this area of North Wales with plenty of good places to eat within walking distance. We did have a problem at the end of the stay with one of the blinds and we were unable to open any windows when it was warm.

"Dear Sykes Cottages."
We had a super week in Nantlle, Caernarfon. The accommodation was lovely, immaculate and very comfy, couldn't have asked for better place to stay. Bedding, towels etc all included and Nantlle is so well equipped with TV, microwave , everything you could need for a perfect stay. The whole experience was brilliant from start to finish, easy to book with clear and concise information. We had a lovely, warm welcome from Colin the caretaker, a lovely friendly gent, who helped us out with car parking and any questions we had. Brilliant location and to look out at the amazing Caernarfon castle right opposite us was amazing. Will be back, beautiful Nantlle.
-
"Excellent situation opposite the castle and within easy reach of the town and the heritage railway."
Well equipped. Our only criticism is the lack of any instruction booklets for the electrical machinery - oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher. Fortunately we were not planning to cook. But we had a really good holiday.

"This is a beautiful grown up space for a lovely get-away."
The property is gorgeous: tasteful & modern decoration and layout. The views from the front windows and door are amazing - direct and uninterrupted view of the castle immediately in front of you. To the rear of the harbour master building is a lovely regenerated area with local artist galleries etc. The service at the property was 1st class - a broken kitchen tap repaired within 2 hrs of reporting it. Absolutely recommend this place. Enjoy!

"A well equipped apartment, Everything was excellent."
One suggestion would be to put net curtains in the living room and kitchen to give a bit of privacy. One of the best we have been to.
-
"Great location."
Really well equipped cottage that was perfect for walking around Caernarfon and to get to nearby places like Llanberis and Holyhead. Local manager, Collin, of the building where the cottage was there and provided great local information and helped make our stay a wonderful experience.
-
"Comfy and convenient."
A great place to stay, couldn’t have been closer to the Castle, plenty of eateries in town, including one less than a 50metres around the corner. Parking can be competitive at busy times.

"Location location location!"
And that is why we chose to stay here. It was wonderful gazing at the castle through the windows on a daily basis. The town centre was easily accessible from here as well. There was some occasional noise through the night on weekends. And cars illegally parked directly outside the bedroom window on week days. This is mainly down to the location. There's a nightclub nearby, and a shop serving takeaway breakfast. The central location near to the castle, and with stunning views of both the castle and harbour, is bound to come with a few setbacks, so we didn't mind this. It is exactly as pictured, so you know exactly what you are getting beforehand. The style is quite Scandinavian and minimalist which I liked as it felt fresh, clean and uncluttered. It also made packing easier when we headed home. A bit more clothing storage in the bedroom would have been good, but otherwise we subscribed to the 'less is more' decor. However less is definitely not more when it comes to information. We were surprised to find that there was no information booklet. We've stayed in at least 20 rental properties in the UK and this is the only one without any written information. As such we didn't know how anything worked: the oven, the heating, the TV. None of them were straightforward. We would never have worked out how to find and access the washer, which is shared between the rental properties and numerous shops. There's a total of 4 different coded gates/doors in this property and you're only provided with the code for key safe which cannot be used elsewhere. It feels like the owners want to say there's a washer but don't really want you to use it, seen as they don't tell you where it is or how to access it. There needs to be some written information provided so that guests don't need to ask the caretaker at every turn. Thankfully, he is lovely, and very patient. But I shouldn't have needed to contact him as much as I did. Be warned about the 'adjacent car park'. I could not find any pricing information online in advance. It is a phenomenal £14 for 18 hours. There's no 24 hour option or weekly option. This car park will cost you a further £125 a week on top of the rental price. What's particularly frustrating is that it's owned by the same company as the property. So it feels like an excuse to extort further funds from paying guests. We only parked here once, the rest of the time we parked elsewhere. But the truth is, that's incredibly inconvenient when you have suitcases/shopping. Particularly infuriating when there's a large open space directly in front of the property and a car park next door that the property owners also own. A deeper clean of the bathroom also needs to be considered. All other rooms were immaculately clean but on first use, the bathroom sink failed to drain due to the plug being full of hair/fluff. I freed this up but shouldn't have needed to. Also, the shower head was visibly mouldy on arrival, so I cleaned this too before use. But it still needs a proper clean as I had no cleaning materials with me. And it needs cleaning every week. The hand-wash was empty and had evidently been empty for quite some time. If it is not going to be filled up every week, remove it. We weren't able to open the windows and this is obviously a known problem as evidenced by the air fresheners in every room. The doors were weighted fire doors, so it wasn't possible to simply leave them open. The lounge in particular smelled of wet dog when we arrived, so we propped open this door with a chair for the duration of our stay. Also I am 5 foot 4. Thankfully I travelled with someone who is 6 foot 2, so we were able to use the bedroom blind. But I would have had no chance, the cord for this was way above my head and I could only just touch it even at full reach. Again, this would have been another call to the caretaker every time I wanted the blind pulling on or off. The blinds are great quality and very stylish but they need to be made more practical! Overall I felt that the property had been renovated extremely well and it was very stylish. The quality of the furnishings was very good. But it was let down by little things which had evidently been overlooked. All of these little things could be easily rectified should the owners decide to take on board the feedback from various guests. Frustratingly, almost everything I have said has already been raised by other paying guests, so why have they not been rectified?

"The only downside for us was it was far too hot and we couldn't open the bedroom windows."
Also, there were quite a few teenagees hanging right outside until quite late.

"Had the best week away to this amazing apartment, set in the harbour area a minutes stroll to the castle and all amenities."
The apartment is decorated to a high standard and is well equipped and comfortable. A short stroll around the castle are lots of pubs to sit out and admire the views. The only downside is the parking situation, when we arrive we found out from the caretaker that the harbour trust had installed new meters and a new tariff as the apartment does not include parking (even though there is a massive area directly outside the apartment that is council owned but has bollards all around to stop cars getting on) the tariff at the car park was £18 for 18 hours (no 24hr option) the caretaker told us a alterative parking spot which was £4 for 4hrs or £5 for over 4hrs where we parked for the first night. we were unsure abut this because on the ticket it said it was only up to midnight. after a bit of research we downloaded a app called Horizon parking and found we could pay for parking at the local Asda store that was a 5 mins walk from the apartment from Sunday to the following Saturday for £12 this was great as we ha booked a few steam train trips so didn't need the car. Felt so much better than paying over £120 for parking. loved the whole week with great views and a fab place to people watch.

"Had a lovely few days at this beautifully finished property."
Had everything we needed and was so clean, bright and in a perfect place for exploring. Decor was right up our street and for such a small space felt extremely large and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed as did the lovely bathroom. Had some good nights sleep in the comfortable bed too. Would definitely recommend for a short break and as a base for relaxing at the end of a busy day. Only down side was the parking situation, which was on a pay and display adjacent but this did not put a dampner on our time, and wasnt expensive.. just felt slightly annoying given the huge space at the front of the property. All in all a great place and would definitely return. Thankyou Nantlle.
-
"Great little flat in an ideal location and has been tastefully decorated."
The cleanliness was outstanding and whomever is responsible for that duty should be praised. Caernarfon is a good base for all of Snowdonia. The town is OK and the people very friendly. I would definitely stay again and have no hesitation in recommending Nantlle. Thank you Sykes cottages.

"On arrival, I spoke to Colin (caretaker), who was extremely helpful, and told me everything I needed to know to settle in to the property."
The property was exceptionally clean, and had first class facilities , shower etc. I would not hesitate to book this property again.
-
"Lack of fresh air in the property."
Difficult to open a window. Aware of locks at top to open, but needed step ladders to be able to do so. Lots of air fresheners which masked the smell of damp. All doors were closed, and are aware they were fire doors which created an environment of claustrophobia. However, the decor and cleanliness were first class.
-
"A lovely little apartment."
Excellent views. Has everything a couple could need for a break. Locally there are a few good restaurants and lots to see and do. As others have commented, it would be nice to have a little more information about services etc.
-
"Great property lovely location clean and tidy everything there you need ."
Only thing i would add bed a bit low if you have back problems
-
"We really enjoyed our stay in Nantile, its perfectly positioned for all town amenities, the bed is very comfortable, its well furnished, with very modern facilities."
However one or two things could be improved on. There was no welcoming information pack, (if we had arrived after the caretaker had left, we wouldn't have known were the recycling & rubbish facilities were etc.), or instructions for appliances, no bowls or oven type dishes for cooking and there were only 3 knives & 3 forks, so more cutlery would be handy. The dinner plates were too big for the dishwasher, so had to be hand washed. Overall a really lovely property, that we would be happy to return to.
-
"I have mobilty problems and found this apartment great for me ,as I could get my electric scooter in and out and able to turn it round in the hall without having to lift it."
I would have liked a shower mat in the shower just to help me with my footing. We were so happy with the accommodation that we have booked it again for later on in the year
-
"This was a last minute holiday, on the day infact."
Nantlle was so welcoming as it was very clean and warm with beds made and the table set. It's in a fabulous location with views of the castle, lovely when all lit up at night. Everything was within walking distance. The caretaker was very helpful with our enquiries. Definitely home from home experience. The only thing I would suggest is a full size hoover and a mop. We have dogs and it was hard work with the little hover. Apart from that, we loved it and will 100% be booking again.
-
"Excellent accommodation, loved it here and will definitely be booking to stay again !"
It had everything you could possibly need and was also perfect location, so close to the castle - fab view from window ! Very spacious, comfortable and immaculate. Absolutely loved it ❤
-
"Nantlle is a lovely apartment, and in a really good location, a real home from home."
The only thing I would suggest is provision of a full sized vacuum cleaner. This would make cleaning much simpler especially if you are visiting with your dog. All in all a brilliant place to spend a holiday.
-
"Perfect property for our holiday, we would definitely recommend to others."
It is perfectly positioned for the town and surrounding areas. The only improvements I would recommend are a full length mirror in the bedroom, and overhead mirror over the dressing table (it was hard work straightening my hair) and just a better welcome tray which would incorporate cleaning items such as a washing up sponge and better toiletries (separate soap, shampoo and conditioner etc. for the bathroom). This is a gem of a property though and one we will definitely recommend to family and friends.
-
"This property would benefit from having an independent heat source as the shared heating cannot be relied on in the evening especially."
However the accommodation very good and found the caretaker (Colin) extremely helpful.
-
"The apartment was very welcoming and beautifully furnished and very comfortable."
The only thing I would mention is possibly a welcoming pack giving general information on where to visit, where to eat, local shops, emergency telephone numbers and a small sharp knife in the kitchen!
-
"A lovely property with good facilities and an excellent location."
Very enjoyable stay.
-
"The property was amazing you couldn't ask for a better location I would recommend it to anyone lovely view of the castle the property had everything you needed it was like home for home we would definitely stay there again."
-
"We had a great stay everything was perfect ."
The Flat was perfect ,right at the side of Caernarfon Castle , What would be really great is the parking fees be included in the cost and a parking ticket be issued which could be displayed on the windscreen . We honestly will be staying here again as it was a holiday to remember,.
-
"Modern comfortable well equipped and great location would love to be there again this week!"
For those around 5 foot 4 you’d struggle to open the Roman blind in the bedroom
-
"We were delighted with the Nantlle and in a perfect setting."
Each of the rooms are beautifully decorated and well equipped, especially the kitchen. There was even a cheese grater with zester!!! Waking up in the morning to peace and quiet we walked the dog around Caernarfon and that was a treat. The fact you walk out the front door and are greeted by the Castle, harbour and mountains is wonderful. We welcomed having the fan in the bedroom as the property does get rather warm. It's a shame that you can't open a window for ventilation, but appreciate why, due to being on the ground floor. As the property has fire doors on each room it was hard to get air circulating especially the kitchen. It gets a lot of sun on that room so at times it was a tad warm (not usual weather I know) to combat this we simply had the front door open for a few moments to get some air through. The front sitting room is super cosy and a delightful space to have a sit down after a day out. It was also nice to see the property have some local crafts and artwork upon the walls. We loved sitting at the table staring out at the Castle during mealtimes each time you look you spot something new. It's the perfect back drop whilst enjoying a glass of fizz. Parking so close was great. We highly enjoyed our stay and it was nice to be greeted by the caretaker who was extremely helpful. Would definitely go again.
