"Lovely small but perfectly formed cottage with an amazing view of the Quay at Conwy."
We were a little concerned after reading a couple of recent reviews but we shouldn't have been as the cottage was beautifully presented, clean & well equipped with a bottle of Fizz in the fridge and a bag of logs etc. for the log burner. Parking is tight & can be a bit like a game of jenga if all of the other cottages are occupied but with a bit of communication with your neighbours it can work out. We had a fabulous weeks stay, the weather was extremely kind & we loved sitting in bed each morning with a coffee watching the boats. For a couple & four legged friend this was a perfect accommodation and we'd certainly recommend and visit again.

"Very disappointed on arrival, place not cleaned, beds not refreshed, we lost our first evening waiting for the owner to arrive and clean the property."
She was clearly put out that she had to turn up to sort the problem, apparently she was going out for the evening and attributed the lack of cleaning to her cleaning staff. However once it was cleaned it was excellent accommodation.(an apology would have been nice) The parking is tight, luckily only four of the cottages were occupied ,five cars would be testing. Conway is a lovely place, and despite our fist impression I would recommend this place.

"Cleaning - or lack of really let this lovely cottage down."
The outside area looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for months and was green and unkempt. Windows also hadn’t been cleaned in a long time with moss on them and canister with milk capsules which had gone off was a really vile smell. Totally out of order for a 5 tick cottage. Took photos as evidence. Great location and nice cottage with cheap fittings cutlery, microwave, pans. Really requires a deep clean. Not what I’ve experienced of 5 tick properties with Sykes.
-
"We loved the cottage and its location on the harbour was great."
A small issue with the TV was very promptly dealt with. The directions weren't quite as easy to follow as they looked and we had a couple of wrong turns before getting it right and speaking to other people in the cottages they had the same problems.

Fantastic location and lovely cottage - would highly recommend to anyone Conwy town and castle are great loads of restaurants and pubs
-
"The fridge was really dirty , and there were no instructions how to use the Tv or the Hob ,"
Apologies about the fridge. I have mentioned this to my cleaner. Can you just elaborate on what you mean by dirty please? All info about tv and hob should be in the information pack thanks Property Owner
-
"No salt and pepper."
One roll of loo roll for two people for four nights !!!!!

Disappointed there was no outside seating in courtyard assume they were in shed but locked Accommodation in a Fantastic position 5 stars will return I hope
Apologies, yes the table and chairs were locked in the shed! Hopefully this review hasn’t put you off visiting Riverside Cottage in the future thanks Kerry Property Owner
-
"Lovely as always."
Third visit somewhat marred by the noisy couple next door
-
"Great little cottage, close to all amenities, had a wonderful time, would go again"
-
"Fantastic cosy property, very clean."
Location couldn’t have been better ! Right by the water side. Space to park your car outside the property. Very good bathroom with a shower and bath.
-
"Lovely position with views over the harbour."
Quiet and cosy. However wife noticed cobwebs at the back and side of the bed. Also although well equipped the shower did not drain very quickly and there is a real danger of overflow which will doubtless cause real damage. This had been noted by previous quests but nothing appears to have been done. Parking is a bit of an issue but not as bad as within the walls.

"The owner and housekeeper were uncontactable throughout our stay; even with the intervention of the lovely Ashley at Sykes."
Problems that could have been solved simply were ignored and completely spoilt our holiday. It's very disappointing to find that the owners are only interested in getting your money and couldn't careless once you've paid. We holiday in the UK at least 4 times a year and this is the first time we have ever had to complain but we were treated with complete contempt by the owners of River Cottage.
-
"Just back from a lovely, relaxing stay in Conwy - helped by some glorious, early Autumn weather."
The cottage was lovely, and exactly as described, and presented to a high standard. As a number of previous visitors have commented - parking is tight, and if all 5 cottages in the row are occupied then not everyone will be able to park. As our visit was outside the busy period we didn't have a problem. Perfectly located to enjoy all that Conwy and the surrounding have to offer.
-
"The cottage was lovely in an absolutely fantastic location on the harbour front."
There was nothing to fault about the cottage , many thanks
-
"The cottage is ideal for two people, and very well provisioned."
Just two things to mention. The parking, as warned, is very tight. During our stay, only four cars were parked there. If there had been a fifth, as per the number of cottages, there would have been a problem. The other point was the request to vacate the property by 9am on the day of departure. 10am, as is usual elsewhere, would have been helpful, and avoided feeling rushed at the end of our stay.

"We had a wonderful holiday."
Riverside Cottage was just as described by Sykes, it was clean, comfortable and well equipped. This is the fourth holiday booked through Sykes I would recommend
-
"Clean and comfortable thank you, the caution about parking was spot on, top tip, reverse up from the bottom."
Couple of little things, another key would have been useful and a non slip mat for the shower for the insecure like me lol. Oh yes, one more thing visitors, GPS sends you along the quay for the last bit, no vehicular access 10 till 6.
-
"The cottage was lovely and very well situated by the riverside."
The faclities were very good and everthing was nice and fresh. The only issue I had was with the parking which would been a bit of a problem if all 5 cottacges had been in use.
-
"Overall the property is very comfortable but is let down by a few elements that need addressing."
Of importance is the front step that needs urgent attention as it could cause an accident due to its poor condition. Next I noted that the cold lever on the kitchen tap is very loose and needs attention. Lastly my wife would like it noted that when stripping the bed she found the under pillowcases stained as well as some of the pillows themselves. We did enjoy our stay and the above are our personal observances.
-
"The cottage was great and the view magnification."
The parking was difficult, but once there, access to the town and castle excellent
-
"The kitchen sink and bowl were clearly not clean, as brown with tea stains."
In addition the grill pan in the oven had a layer of fat on it, so this had also not been cleaned. The lounge had numerous dead damp Beatles in the corners of the fireplace. The bathroom was clean thank goodness. Outside the yard hadn’t been swept and no broom for us to do it! Therefore spoil the opportunity to sit out there. Finally, parking is a real issue! We managed, but in higher season this would not be possible to park vehicles for five cottages!! We enjoyed our break, but l think the above should definitely be addressed.
-
"Wonderful location but parking difficult."
A lot of shunting around while we were there. Cottage well equipped but seating in living area uncomfortable. Other than that we had a very good stay there.
-
"Wow the views, especially upstairs found it hard to get out of bed"
-

Location was excellent, parking outside the front door ever changing views all amenities present two minutes walk to the castle or the town would definitely stay here again Five stars

"Lovely cottage very cosy and well equipped"

"Beautiful, well equipped cottage in excellent location."
-
"We enjoyed our holiday at Riverside Cottage which is in a nice location and within a few miles of all the places we had arranged to visit, the town is also very close to the property with some nice places to eat."
The drawback is the parking with nearly every entry in the visitors book giving their view. Because of an event on the promenade we were unable get our car near the property and had to unload our luggage through a wall at the front on a small grass verge (with help from the people who lived next door) also, there is a scaffold on the Harbour Masters building where the road leads to the property so I left the car on the grass verge overnight. On the Sunday morning I went to the Harbour Master and explained the problem and they gave me a weekly pass for parking in one of four spaces in front of the RNLI shop but asked to leave my car where it was until Monday with pass displayed after that there was no problem. My personal view is if the property owner speaks to the Harbour Master to arrange a pass for all visitors.
-
"Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean with amazing views in a spectacular setting."
Beyond expectations.
-
"We enjoyed our stay at Riverside cottage."
It was spotless The views out side the window was amazing All mod cons in kitchen. The only drawback was the parking. We had a big car. And found it difficult to park. Apart from that we have no other complaints
-
"Perfect cottage."
Perfect location. Refurbished to a very high standard. Perfect facilities. Car parking is tight but there were no problems. I am already planning my next visit. Conwy is beautiful.
-
"Beautiful location and property extremely comfortable Serious draw back is ..."
Beautiful location and property extremely comfortable Serious draw back is parking which is not made clear obscuring the view by parking your car in front of window and that’s if you car park scaffolding at entrance of terrace makes road really difficult this needs pointing out only disappointment but rather a big issues Would return for that reason
-
"Fab property…brilliant location…."
-
"Great location."
Beautifully decorated and furnished cottage. Parking was tricky directly outside the cottage, access restricted by a scaffolded building we had not be warned about.
-
"It is a beautiful cottage in a perfect location."
Maintained to a high standard . We had no problems with the parking and the neighbours were friendly and helpful. Would recommend the olde mailcoach pub where the landlady Tracey and her regulars made us feel very welcome.
-
"The beautiful views from the cottage."
The thought & the quality of the goods that had gone into the furnishing & the facilities in the cottage . The lovely town of Conwy that had everything we could need. Beautiful places to visit nearby.
-
"We stayed in March just before lockdown and knew what to expect, so we were very happy with the cottage."
The constant observation is the limited parking. A photo would be helpful to show exactly how it is. We also felt that if we were to stay for longer than a week a washing machine would be essential, or at least some availability of washing facilities. A lovely cottage with lovely views over the estuary.
-
"Your information on parking is misleading."
There are five cottages on customs house terrace and parking for four cars. Parking should be listed as available subject to availability
-
"Great property with nice views across the estuary."
Would recommend!
-
"We had such a lovely time at Riverside Cottage we were genuinely reluctant to leave."
The cottage is well equipped, beautifully decorated & perfectly located just minutes from the Castle, shops and restaurants. The fact it has both a bath and walk in shower was a real bonus. As was the fact the property is pet free (due to my allergies) Waking up every morning to the gorgeous view of the harbour from the very comfy king size bed was the icing on the cake! Having read the other reviews we booked fully expecting that we may have to park elsewhere, but luckily, aside from our last evening, we were the only car there all week. Good reversing skills are a must though! The majority of tourist attractions in North Wales are closed during January/February, but we still found plenty to do & had a wonderful time. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend/return.
-
"The cottage is tastefully decorated and really comfortable, especially the bed."
It is in a great location with fabulous views.
-
"Excellent cottage and so well equipped."
Parking can be an issue although with communication with neighbours it can be worked out.
-
"Excellent location and a very comfortable and convenient alternative to a hotel room for a short break."
Some guests have complained about the parking arrangements, and it is true this could be tricky if you are a nervous parker, but given that this is an old cottage right on the harbour it really should not be a surprise that parking is as it is. Could do with some instructions for the dishwasher - just a detail. Overall we thought the place was excellent
-
"Choose property as it had off street parking which is an important factor for us."
The space was not suitable for a normal car and if the other properties had been occupied we would have had a major problem. As it was we had to pay and park in an overnight car park some of the time and one of the other cottages left two nights early, which created space. There was no information in the property about where we could park. This would have at least been helpful
-
"Lovely cottage with marvellous views over the Conwy Estuary and very close to shops and restaurants."
Kitchen is well equipped with a slimline dishwasher and induction hob but no washing machine. Hand washed clothes can be dried on the provided airer in the enclosed back yard but only if the weather is good. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom is lovely. Car parking can be difficult. The car parking space for this cottage blocks in that for number 5, so you need to liaise with them, or one of you can park next to the end cottage. Your reversing skills need to be good. There are good restaurants in the area (we had good meals at Castle View at Deganwy, Erskine Arms in Conwy) but you may need to book at popular times. Edwards the Butchers does prepared meals that you can just heat in the oven. We spent a week in the cottage and didn't even have time to visit the Castle! It's worth walking round the walls in the early morning before they get crowded. There is an RSPB reserve on the other side of the river and the nearby Bodnant Gardens are beautiful. Public transport is good and there is a 'Hop on, hop off' bus that goes round Conwy and Llandudno. It stops outside the station. We had a great time and would love to go again.
-
"The cottage was really excellent with good facilities and very comfortable."
Some reviewers comment on the parking issue and we found no problem with this with our hyundai i10 but I could see how bigger cars might struggle. That said, of the five cottages, two of the cars parked at the end of the cottages to give more space (Sykes rent out four of the five cottages) We will be back!
-
"Compact, convenient , comfortable accommodation."
Stunning view. Parking space was very limited but problems could be overcome with friendly co-operation with neighbours. A most enjoyable week.
-
"We were surprised to have only one large bin and no recycling facility at the cottage."
Do you expect us to carry it home or not recycle?
-
"What a place to have a cottage overlooking the estuary, so relaxing, and so near to every thing town, shops, pubs, marina, beach, the cottage was of a very high standard, the bathroom was amazing, and the shower was great."
-
"Lovely cottage, amenities in general and setting, BUT the listing says there is parking and this isn’t actually true."
The space available would only work if each of the five cottages has a very small car and even then, one person would always be blocked in. When we arrived a neighbour told us where to park, which turned out to be another neighbours closely guarded space and they weren’t very happy with us! We did eventually manage to park at the side of the houses but this might not always be available and was in a position where I was constantly expecting us to be told to move.
-
"Lovely, comfortable, clean and modernised to an exceptional standard, we were overwhelmed how perfect the place was, looking out of the window at a perfect location made our short holiday one to remember."
Hosts were more than amenable and friendly. Minor issue with the parking that was not readily available in the space provided, unless you have a small car - however, after a quick chat to a neighbour there is free room at the side of the accommodation, which in the end was much more accessible. Would love to stay here again one day!
-
"Riverside Cottage is delightful HOWEVER your statement:- "off street parking" is grossly misleading Custom House Terrace comprises 5 cottages (including "Riverside") but there is only room for 4 SMALL cars ."
..there is a map in the window of 2 cottages showing the allocated spaces for each cottage ...but my car would not fit in space No3(I have an AudiA3 so not huge) and even if I did have a tiny car and park in the space allocated for No3 then I would block the space allocated for car space5. In effect allocated space for No3 must be kept clear to allow all other cars to exit. Consequently I had to park some considerable distance away for the whole week ...and since I am disabled did not please me much.....So I shall not be re-booking this cottage I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU AMEND YOUR ADVERTISEMENT But saying that ...the cottage would suit those with no car or a bicycle

"Parking was terrible would have liked cottage information book to tell you where ..."
Parking was terrible would have liked cottage information book to tell you where to take rubbish cottage was really great
-
"The situation of the cottage is great looking over the river and harbour,it is very well presented and also like the design which is well thought out."
We enjoyed our stay very much in the cottage and the walled town of Conwy. Would love to stay again.
-

About the location
CONWY
Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.
Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
