  • "2 days before I went on holiday, Sykes rang to say the cooker wasn't working and would we be ok using a microwave and double electric hob."

I agreed to this and £45 discount was agreed for the inconvenience of not having a cooker. I went on holiday and had beautiful weather in Wales. Sadly the cottage did not live up to expectations. The electric hob cut out constantly so we were unable to cook proper meals. The shower filled with water as we showered and felt really damp. I messaged the owner but didn't receive an answer until the next evenin. By then we had left and gone home a day early. I have been ringing Sykes since to try and let them know the issues. Still waiting for the agreed 45 refund nearly 2 weeks later. Poor show!

From our point of view, this experience is most regrettable. It is unfortunate and unforeseeable that the cooker should fail, never having caused any problems before. It has now been replaced with a new one. The shower drainage problem was caused by the outside grid becoming blocked due building work next door. Again this could not have been foreseen. The grid has now been cleared and the shower drains properly. The grids are regularly checked and flushed out. We apologise for the delayed response. This was due to being out of mobile phone range at the time in Ireland. Please be assured that the cottage is always maintained to a high standard and the shower room is soon to be upgraded. We readily offered to compensate our guests for their inconvenience and are deeply sorry that these issues spoilt their holiday. Property Owner
