  • "The property has everything suited to a large family/group time together."

Providing both busy and quiet places to relax and enjoy company. The kitchen all the equipment that you would need but lacked storage space for everyday essentials but we did manage. The location in Criccieth is great with panoramic views and ideal for getting around the area.

  • "This is a lovely and very well appointed House which was ideal for our family of nine – everyone had their own bedroom with ensuite bathrooms."

Some feedback: The cleaners should leave the house handbook visible in the kitchen. We could not find it at first because it was in a drawer. Two of the showers had a grab rail and two did not. Of these there was one in which the floor was dangerously slippery and there appeared to be no nonslip mat available. If the owner does not wish to supply these mats we suggest bringing one is added to the visit instructions. We had to resort to laying a towel down to make it safer. The windows are modern and look very nice but they are impossible to close completely – we assume this is to ensure adequate ventilation of the house. It did however mean that when the wind was blowing strongly on the windows there was a substantial cold draught. clearly it is impossible to provide a detailed inventory of kitchen equipment but it would've been helpful to know what coffee making equipment there was – I had to phone the owner to find this out and discovered that there were in fact several cafetières. A lot of people these days like to use a wok for stirfries. This was not available and we would've brought our own if we had known. But we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it for large parties wishing to visit this area. The views from the house are stunning. The beds are very comfortable.

All the bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely (no arguing!) and everything is at a very high standard. We loved the view of the sea and the castle. 3 sitting rooms and a study meant everyone could find a space to do what they wanted. On arrival we did think it would be good to have a name on the gate (although the photograph helped of course) and also it would help to know there are 2 keysafes. Apart from those very minor comments, thank you for a super holiday,

Where to start! So comfortable with every need catered for. A super spacious, well stocked kitchen so many pots pans etc. Every bedroom was a delight, no arguments about who had which room.grounds are beautiful and well laid out. I know they don't provide the view but that was super too!! The owner has impeccable taste. The art work scattered about was lovely. The minor problems we had were fixed immediately by Dafydd, the property manager.i would recommend this property to the most fussy people I know and know they would be happy .

I did request the zip and link beds were made into double beds and unfortunately that did not happen but we managed. One of the showers did not work but again this did not spoil our holiday. The recycling was a little onerous, especially the food bin on the work counter in the kitchen because there were only 3 bags and we needed more but we did our best. Also our party had two babies so we had many nappies to get rid of but there was no recycling bin for these.(?) I feel there should be something written about this and the recycling in the description on the Sykes website. But all in all we had a wonderful time and would definitely consider another holiday in this superb house. Thankyou.

A couple of minor points for the owners: One half of the 4 slice toaster didn't work. There being only one kettle proved to be a bit of a battle with 12 people wanting to make drinks in the morning. Some of the radiators in the bedrooms never came on all week (we adjusted the valves to maximum); The weather was mild so this wasn't a problem for us but could be in the depths of winter.

10 adults had a fantastic time. Spotless and beautifully appointed. So much space and comfort . The sitting rooms and bedrooms were top quality and en-suite bathrooms were lovely. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want for grand dining, no compromises needed in terms of platters, pans glassware etc. . We would have preferred dining chairs rather than benches for our leisurely meals . Overall a really great house with everything you could wish for. Thankyou !

All the furnishings and bed linen were of a really high quality and the kitchen was stocked to a very high standard. A few suggestions : a high chair and cot would have been very welcome especially being such a big family rental property .A hair dryer was also lacking. There were issues with electrical items such as lighting and the lounge rooms would benefit from some brighter lights for reading. A second main door key would have helped too. This is a property we would very happily return to and everyone in our party had a wonderful time.

The house is very spacious, beautifully decorated, well equipped with everything you could wish for - and spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of hot water. It really is home from home, with so much thought going into every detail. Logs are supplied for the various log burners downstairs (and we found we needed to use them as the house wasn't overly warm). There is also an abundance of games and books for cosy evenings in one of three sitting rooms. Outside, there is plenty of parking, a huge garden and lovely walks on the doorstep. Our party were all keen to revisit Bren Henllan next year for a long weekend (Friday to Monday) but it seems that bookings will now only be from a Saturday with start days either side incurring the full week/2 week's rent. Such a shame as a stay is now above our budget, but I understand the reasons behind it. In all, a gem of a holiday home!

The house can cater for every shape and size of group, with three great sitting rooms, a huge dining table, and several log-burners to ensure winter breaks are just as appealing. There's a lot to be said for being on the edge of a lovely small town, combining good privacy with short walks to a butcher, a deli, a baker, coffee shops and an attractive seafront. For the more adventurous, there are tremendous longer walks along the shore (towards Porthmadog) or hikes into Snowdonia. We stayed in early September, and were lucky to have sunshine every day. We absolutely loved the house and the area!

And perching on the best location over it all is the beautiful Bryn Henllan which has sweeping views of the rocky crescent beach and of course a breathtaking view of the castle. The home has a perfect modern renovation, spotless, clean, detailed and well considered it was clearly done with a lot of care and thought. Original details are preserved and honored side by side with modern conveniences. I have traveled quite extensively and this is one of the best spots I’ve found. • ""Just had the most wonderful and magical stay in this beautiful Victorian home by the beach."

All the guests had their own bathroom and bedroom so felt very private but the communal areas are spacious and great for accommodating lots of friends and family. We were all able to sit down for meals because of the huge and beautiful dining room table and spent all our time in the kitchen/living/dining area and on the outdoor terrace taking in the spectacular views of the sea. One of the best bits is you can take a morning dip in the sea which is only a 5 minute walk away. I highly recommend staying here - it was very clean when we arrived, towels on our beds, a huge garden and plenty of games, books and room to have the best holiday!

  • "We stayed at Bryn Henllan in May."

The house is magnificent. Recently renovated, every room has real character and there’s some beautiful artwork on the walls. The house's position is breath-taking, with views of Cardigan Bay from many of the rooms. The house has a large garden which was great for the children and it’s within easy reach of so many things to do in Snowdonia and the quiet beaches of the Lleyn peninsula. I couldn’t recommend it more for a break for an extended family or a get-together of friends. 6+ well-appointed bedrooms all with their own bathrooms make for a very comfortable stay. A beautiful large, open plan kitchen with everything you could possibly need (who has two dishwashers?) is just one of a number of shared spaces we were able to use. The house was spotless on arrival and we enjoyed a very thoughtful welcome box. Seemingly new to the rental market, do take advantage of what is a real gem. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We stayed here with family for a wedding in the area and the house was perfect. Amazing size, location and views. Undoubtedly the best views in Criccieth! Inside, there is so much light throughout the house. The downstairs manages to balance being spacious and open, whilst also cosy. Every bedroom is fantastic. The gardens are enormous, with the views only getting better and better as you walk up. Perfect walking distance to everywhere in Criccieth (great jog down to the beach for an early morning swim....) and really well located for accessing Snowdonia and other parts of the Llyn peninsula. Already planning a second trip...!

We stayed for a week, with extended family and our 4-week old. We settled on the top floor which was the perfect setup with a newborn, incredibly comfortable, with lots of space and no need worry about disturbing others. Having a big utility room separate from the kitchen and two washing machines also a huge bonus with a baby. The house has such a cosy and homey feel whilst also being set up with a fantastic, modern kitchen and lovely bathrooms (en suite for everyone!). Brilliant location too, being set above the town with wonderful views but also just a few minutes walk to the shops and the beach.

The property

This spectacular three-storey property, Bryn Henllan, is located in the bustling seaside town of Criccieth, Gwynedd.

Bryn Henllan is ideal for a large family or group, sleeping up to 12 guests, and is conveniently located within its own grounds with ample off-street parking in the heart of the town, with stunning views of the seashore and castle.

Behind the property’s stone-fronted façade is a newly renovated family house which blends original and contemporary features to provide a spacious, light-filled interior with original beams, exposed brickwork, wooden floors and high ceilings.

The airy entrance hall with original Victorian tiled floor leads to the well-equipped open-plan kitchen/diner, perfect for getting together around either the contemporary granite-topped breakfast bar or rustic wooden dining table.

Adjoining the kitchen is the utility area where you'll also find a drying room, cloakroom and wet-room for convenience, perfect for cleaning off after a day at the beach or hiking.

There is also direct access from the kitchen to the front and side terraces for al fresco dining or taking in the sweeping seascape over a drink. You can relax in one of three comfortable reception rooms: the elegant sitting room adjoining the dining area or the snug just off the entrance hall, both of which have woodburning stoves and an assortment of books and games to enjoy as a family, or the first-floor sitting room with its spectacular sea views where you can unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet in front of the electric stove and Smart TV.

The property’s six bedrooms are spread over two floors.

On the first floor are four spacious en-suite double rooms, two of which can be arranged flexibly as either twin or superking beds, whilst on the second floor are two bedrooms, a king and a twin, a study, and two contemporary bathrooms with underfloor heating.

Bryn Henllan offers the best of two worlds: picture perfect views and informal gardens surrounded by nature for private dining, picnics or drinks, whilst also being only a short stroll to Criccieth town itself with its array of eateries, pubs and shops. Enjoy some family-friendly activities, right on your doorstep in Criccieth, such as excursions up Criccieth Castle, walks along Marine Beach to the river Dwyfor’s estuary or along Neraig beach to Black Rock, or picnics on the sands of Morfa Bychan.

Nearby are also the attractions of Portmeirion Village, rides on the Mountain Railway to Snowdon, exploring the slate caverns at Llechwedd or the Sygun copper mine in Beddgelert.

For walkers the area is rich in hiking trails and picturesque circular walks, including trekking up Snowdon or trailing through the valley at Aber Glaslyn Pass.

For some friendly rivalry, try water sports, clay pigeon shooting, or go karting at Glasfryn Parc. If you enjoy history, the Lloyd George Museum is on your doorstep in Llanystumdwy, and a short drive away are St Cybi's Well and Caernarfon Castle with mediaeval architecture and breath-taking scenery.

Choose Bryn Henllan as your Gwynedd home, offering something for everyone.
