  • "This was a lovely property to stay in for the week."

The views were amazing - with sunrise and sunset from the windows. The only two issues we had was there is not a blind on the window in the single bedroom - we needed to improvise for the week. Secondly there were not any information about how to control the heating (the leaflet there was for an old controller). Due to the mild weather we could work around it. Otherwise a wonderful property and great base to explore Snowdonia and North Wales.

Its a lovely clean flat with super views from every window. The only thing I would say is the master bed could do with a new mattress and it would've been nice if the stairgate was fitted upon arrival.

  • "Absolutely loved staying at the Towers - Castell."

It was wonderfully clean, spacious and welcoming. The village itself didn't get overly busy, which is good if holiday crowds aren't your thing, and being that close to the beach was heavenly. Being able to watch/hear the sea was a lovely way to have your morning tea. The rooms were lovely and spacious with sufficient storage, very clean and well maintained and the kitchen had most of the basics (no pizza tray though!). The USB plug in the bathroom (on the end of the light under a cover) with the shaver plug sockets was a nice touch. The WiFi coverage was pretty good and there was enough coffee/tea provided for a few days so you could just walk in and have a cuppa as soon as you get there - with the addition of a pint of milk in the fridge to welcome you. The food from the local chip shop (Castle Fish and Chips) was outstanding and the staff were lovely, but be prepared for long queues and it isnt cheap, but not overly expensive either and is good value for money. The ice cream shop (Cadwaladers) was also good, very helpful (I have food intolerances) but the portion sizes weren't great for the price. There is loads to do without having to travel miles (but you can and we did), and we are really happy we chose to have the Towers as a base. The only drawbacks were the low points on the ceiling (my husband cracked his head a couple of times - but the listing did warn of this!) and the 3 flights of stairs which were a bit much after doing an 11 mile walk. Price wise we found it very reasonable, we stayed for 2 weeks in the summer holidays and it didn't break the bank. Overall, I am very happy with the stay we had and happy to recommend The Towers - Castell as an excellent place to stay.

  • "We had a great stay at The Towers."

A good base for exploring Snowdonia. The apartment was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Criccieth is a lovely place to stay, peaceful but enough there to keep you going. We ate out at The Poachers Restaurant and Dylans which were both lovely. There are about 4 chip shops, Calawalders for desserts and cakes and we made use of the Bakery most days for our lunches. We didn't find fault with anything and had an excellent holiday.

  • "We spent a wonderful holiday in Towers Castell."

The location next to the sea is perfect for recreation and start to trips. We didn´t miss anything in our spacious and well aquipped appartment. It was very clean, we also enjoyed the welcome gift milk & cake. Last year the both of us fell ill and couldn´t go on holiday. Special thanks to Sykes Cottages and the property owner for the understanding and kindly contact.. We were very happy about the change of booking! We hope to come back again. Kind regards!!

  • "Two points."

A beautiful location in Criccieth and because of the excellent walking around. However, I (6. 0") and my wife 5' 2" both banged our heads on the sloping ceilings, in her case causing her to fall to the ground. As the ceilings and the slopes are both white the edges are hard to see and something to highlight their presence - a marking or colour band - would help avoid future injuries. On the minor point, a coffee filter or cafetiere would make the morning coffee easier to make (and less gritty!) and a couple of heat resistant table mats would protect the rather nice new kitchen table (we used plates but others may not be so careful)

  • "Lovely break, apartment was warm, spacious, clean and quite well equipped."

I am just over six foot and had very few issues with ceiling height, just need to be careful with doorway into kitchen/living room, otherwise restricted height was where you would expect it to be in top floor apartment. Also had no issue with lack of blinds on bathroom windows, people would need to be hanging from roofs to see in. Points noted - no Cafetiere, pictures seem to show one but it was the teapot, would have taken our own if we had realised. iI there were more mugs, glasses and cutlery dish washer would have been run less frequently. A few books, jigsaw puzzles and games may help to keep you amused on wet day, However overall really nice, thanks.

  • "The views from the apartment were lovely, apartment was spacious and clean."

There is no elevator to get upstairs, so this is something to consider if you have difficulty getting up stairs. Contrary to the listing, there was NO handheld shower in the en suite bathroom. We booked for 4 people to stay and all of us staying had to use the one shower. That said, the one shower was very good, although a fairly small cubicle. The beds were beyond uncomfortable. We had a terrible first nights sleep, and had to improvise and put cushions and pillows on top of the mattress in order to be able to get any sleep for the remaining 5 nights. Kitchen is pretty well set up, with everything we needed to cook and eat in the cabinets. Toilet paper provided not enough for the time booked, since it was not on the list of items to bring and we were told on enquiry we would not be given any more, we had to go buy more. I would suggest this be added to the list of suggestions to bring with you, and also make information available on where to find things like rubbish/trash bags in the apartment. Based on the lack of sleep due to uncomfortable beds we would not stay at the Towers Castell again. Based on the misleading information about the hand held shower option I would question the amenities listings given for other Sykes properties.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment with stunning views."

We saw dolphins and porpoises most days and loved the sound of the sea from the entire apartment. As you would expect with a top floor flat, the ceilings are a little low in places and there are lots of stairs but that wasn't a problem for us (although no obvious fire escape other than the main stairs). The flat was generally clean and well maintained although the shower door was broken. There are no books or games in the apartment but there were two hairdryers (not on the listing). More hooks in the bathrooms would be very useful, and more than two dishwasher tablets for a week's stay would have been appreciated! Blinds on the skylight windows really are required too - the bathrooms are a little overlooked and sleeping in bedroom 3 with no blind was tricky so we had to make our own window covering. All in all though it is a lovely place to spend a relaxing holiday.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Towers - Castell. It was much more spacious than expected, lovely decor and very comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and the location couldn’t be beaten - right across from the beach. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

  • "This property is in a great location, with lovely views along the coast in both directions."

The furnishings were very tasteful and gave a calm ambience. Beds were very comfortable and everything inside the flat was very clean. A downside for some would be the number of stairs as it's at the very top of the house (hence the great views). Parking at the roadside was never a problem. Prior to booking we were worried as some reviews mentioned the sloping ceiling being an issue as we range from 5'7 to 6'2, but we found it fine however you do need to be aware of the headroom in a couple of places. Would not hesitate to rebook this property!.

  • "Excellent property, superb location in a fabulous town, plenty of places to eat/drink, superb scenery, great location for exploring the further delights of the Llyn peninsula as well as Snowdonia not that far away."

The apartment was very comfortable and spacious, the quirky attic location was charming, though you had to watch your head ! Although the apartment could officially sleep 5 I would imagine that 5 adults may feel cramped in the living areas ( due to height restrictions and layout ) and further crockery / cooking utensils would need to be provided. The en-suite to the main bedroom also needs to have the shower attachment re-instated and shower screen added to make it a fully functioning bathroom. As we were only a party of two none of this posed us a problem, but may for larger parties.

  • "We had a lovely stay in Castell."

It is a wonderful apartment. Just a couple of comments... The description said that the en-suite had bath with hand-held shower but there was no shower. The windows in the bathrooms could do with blinds at the windows, particularly as the shower room is potentially over-looked by the next door building. When cooking for 5 a couple of extra pans and/or a wok would have been useful - minor niggle. Apart from that would have loved to have stayed longer!

  • "A really great holiday apartment in a brilliant location - cool and airy with everything you could want in terms of crockery and utensils."

Would thoroughly recommend. A couple of easy wins would make it even better - hooks on backs of bathrooms doors, a clothes horse ( not everyone wants to use a tumble dryer!) A couple of chairs to use on beach perhaps. A blind on small bedroom window (though this was easily remedied with a towel) There's ample room for a washing machine so please put one in - having to queue for the washing machine took me back to student days and unloading other people's laundry because it's left in there all day and night wasn't ideal. Overall though, really great accomodation. Thank you

Access to washing machine and tumble dryer very helpful, and generous supplies of foil, washing up liquid and dishwasher tabs, which we appreciated. It was very clean, one of the best we have been to. Only comment I would make is that a gate at the top of the stairs on the landing would be a good idea, as it would be easy for a child especially to miss their footing around the corner of the corridor to the bathroom and fall down.

We absolutely loved it. Very clean compared to everywhere else we've stayed in, comfortable modern furniture. Spacious and cosy rooms. Super comfy beds, lovely bed linen and throws. We appreciated the complimentary tea, coffee, welsh cakes and milk, but even more so the dishwasher tabs and liquid, the bin bags and cellophane. We always end up buying these just for a week's stay and we can't take them back with us as we live abroad. A few things need to be added in terms of kitchenware to cook for a family of 5 (list left in the flat), but mostly we had what we needed. Beautiful view, but as someone else has mentioned, the noise from the sea and the wind (under the roof) in bad, windy weather might bother a light sleeper, but it was not a problem for us. Perhaps a deck of cards and a couple of universal board games would be something to add too.
