"We had a fab stay in beautiful Criccieth in the quirky but comfortable Y Stabl."
Once we found the door to get in (go up the street and it’s the gate before the launderette past the red door and into the side entrance) we were blown away by how amazing the place was. The cottage is on three levels but you walk in on level two. We used the main front door into the very well equipped kitchen to save tramping up and down the carpeted stairs in our outdoor shoes. The kitchen is spacious and spotlessly clean, we were a little disappointed at the lack of coffee machine (self confessed coffee snobs!) however there was cafetières to make up for it. The only thing I would add to the kitchen is an air fryer. The lounge area is pretty bizarre with its amazing wall art, massive TV, comfy couch and swivel chair by the cute little balcony with the stunning sea view, even though it was late in the year we had the doors open several times. We couldn’t work out how to use the sound system sadly but we made do without. The shower and steam room was just heavenly and such a lovely luxury. The bedroom is right up in the attic and has a low beam and a sloping ceiling but the comfortable bed has a view of the castle from one window, which is stunning when lit up at night and the other window has a sea view. The jacuzzi bath is the main reason we booked this cottage and although it’s a little compact it was used three times! We dined at The Spice Bank, delicious Sunday lunch and Saturday brunch was eaten at Tir a Mor and we had a lovely lunch at Dylan’s and we also had dinner at Moelwyn which in summer has a lovely view from the dining room. We adore Criccieth and finding this lovely property just made us love it a little more! We most definitely will be returning.

"We had a wonderful sunny week- the setting was excellent and the accommodation well equipped and comfortable ."
Too hot to try the jacuzzi bath or steam room- maybe we will return in the cooler weather!
A name plate on the front door would be helpful on arrival - the instructions were accurate regarding key box but an initial confirmation we were at the right property would have been reassuring.
The kitchen was well equipped but a tray would be a good addition as most of our time was spent in the lounge area due to views.
Addition of info re bins and recycling would have been helpful.
The TV in bedroom and kitchen did not work and the one in the lounge needed the internet settings reconfirming more than once- info in the pack regarding this would be helpful.
Thank you

I feel that the photos of the property and the description be updated as the present details are misleading as to the seating in the lounge and the seating in location is quite a low swivel chair that is about 30cm from the ground that doesn’t match those in the description

"This was our second stay here."
It is a fabulous place, we loved the cottage first time round and although we still had a lovely week we felt that the place was lacking in some TLC. The freezer was completely frozen over all the drawers meaning we were only able to use one of them after hacking the ice from the front to get it to open. The washing machine was not working and clearly hadn't been for some time as the dispenser drawer was full of stagnent water which we can only assume accounted for the terrible smell in the kitchen. I did leave a note to inform the cleaner so hopefully this will have been sorted out. One other off putting thing was when we stripped the bed on our last day the quilt was very yellow and stained.....not nice.
Not so sure we would stay again.

Nice deco, great location, good views. Doing all sets of stairs could get tiring and no doors between different floors, which was not good for noise control (we had a baby). Overall, I would recommend the property. Ps. Bring your own soap.

Location is perfect for the sights and amenities of Criccieth and also for exploring North West Wales. Views from the property are great - down the road to the sea and across to the castle. No on site parking but we didn’t have any problems finding a space on nearby streets.

"We actually only stayed one night, i quote from the description on the website "Accommodation is over two floors" which it is not it is over three floors."
The stairs are not usable if you have mobility difficulties, maybe this should be written somewhere, upon booking i saw there was a leather recliner in the picture which is much needed for my back, when we got there no recliner a very low swivel chair and an uncomfortable fabric sofa neither good for back or knee issues. I have only just got round to doing this as i have not been too well since i got back due to the issues i mentioned above and being very upset at spending so much money for 1 night and having no spare cash to be able to go anywhere else so our holiday was ruined.

"Would recommend this lovely cottage."
A lot of time and passion has gone into making it what it is. One of our favourites was the surfing mural on the kitchen wall and the juliet balcony in the lounge with sea views. Lots of coastal touches and other quirky themes. Lovely log fire, and great to see the castle from the bedroom window luminated at night. The beach is only a 5 min walk and there are lovely restraunts and cafés near the beach. We found it a great base to explore from. Porthmadog is nearby with all its shops and Ffestiniog steam railway, as is Portmeirion. Lots to do and see. The facilities in the cottage are great and we would definitely recommend.

The property had everything we needed for our stay. We really liked the quirky decor. The only negative point I have to make is that there isn't enough information about recycling. We are keen recyclers so ended up taking ours home with us as there was only one bin for all rubbish. Other than that this property is faultless.

Excellent location Port Merrion on the doorstep where we spent the first day before checking in and had a lovely meal in there fabulous restraunt.
We love Criccieth, the tea shop next door does amazing cakes, and as we couldn’t go inside we used the kitchen of the cottage and didn’t feel short changed. The staff there are also wonderful and very friendly . Dylan’s is also one of favourite places to go. We went 3 times twice to eat and once for gorgeous cocktails. We scoured the the shops and took home bits and bobs. Loving the castle chip shop too. On our way home we went to Rhug farm, rosies cider press and Cheshire oaks. Spent all our money and loved ever minute . Thanks to the owner we had a great time and no doubt will return

Second stay at Y Stabl, great cottage and facilities, some new appliances since last visit in September. Still unable to connect phone to music system but think that is down to device, clearer instructions on that would be useful. Steam room and jacuzzi very relaxing after a day in the mountains. Although no private parking we had no issue at all with adjacent roadside parking during our stay. Would recommend and we will be back when next visiting the area.

"The view from the bed of the castle and the sea was stunning."
The castle is lit up at night which is also visible from the bed. We woke ourselves up every day with a steam in the steam room and a coffee from the machine. Very quirky house. Ideal location in the village for a short walk to the sea, a range of shops or pubs. We would really recommend Dylan's restaurant for a great evening meal, within an easy 10 minute walk.
Slightly negative: The heating is locked to a timer and cannot be switched off without a pin code, so we had to open all the upstairs windows on the first night, the toilet floor had been left dirty and I had to clean some wee off the floor when we arrived (and it smelled bad during our trip) so I didn't bother to clean before we left. The Google Chromecast could not be used as the laptop required was not present but we could still use an aux in cable to pipe music to every room but had to keep going upstairs/downstairs to change the song on the phone. Minor grumbles for an otherwise wonderful trip.

"The cottage was very well located in central Criccieth."
The bed was comfortable, though as tall people we did end up having to duck in the bedroom, but that's to be expected in an old building.
We had everything that we needed - can't think of anything that was missing.
There were a few things that we would like to raise -
- the cleanliness of the cottage is a 3 out of 5 - the skirting in the kitchen was quite dusty and there were hairs in the corner of the bedroom
- the lighting in the lounge was very 'subdued' - fine for watching a film, but pretty useless for reading. We spent each evening in the kitchen/diner (great lighting!) and didn't use the lounge at all
