  • "The owner did his best to think of everything."

The cottage is as described in the brochure, and online. There is lots of kitchen equipment, the decor is really good. Rooms are comfy with lovely bathrobes, towels, and slippers, all ready for your comfort, and for the use of the hot tub. The owner makes sure everything is in order so all you have to do is relax and enjoy your holiday. Great access to Liverpool, and other sites. There's a cafe, and chip shop a driveway. You are a drive away from a retail park, which includes Tesco , M&S. You do need a car,and be mindful of parking spaces. It wasn't too much of a bother for us. We had a lovely, comfortable time in this naturally beautiful home.

Such a lovely helpful person, thank you so much! The property has everything you could need and want. Log fire in the living room was fabulous. Hot tub was amazing, we used every night with the exception of one rainy evening. The local area is lovely. So pretty and full of nature! The sunsets are so pretty. We visited quite a few different places which were all with in about an hour of Rivendell. Spoiled for choice. We look forward to coming back to visit!

Thank you for staying at our cottage. It was a pleasure to host you. Glad you enjoyed your stay and of course the wonderful Hot Tub. Hope to see you again sometime. Property Owner

It’s a beautiful house and is equipped with everything you could possibly need -including breakfast ingredients for your first morning! The house is beautifully furnished from top to bottom and the kitchen is straight out of Good Housekeeping with top quality appliances and utensils. The garden is just as impressive with little nooks with seating areas, fire pit and of course -the wood fired hot tub! Gordon is the perfect host -he gave us tips for how to get the most out of the area and made sure we were settled in and made it easy to keep in touch. Perfect evenings in the hot tub with garden lights twinkling around us -just lovely! We will be back!

  • "Our stay at Rivendell was excellent."

We stayed there for four nights and enjoyed every minute of it. As soon as you walk in the front door you are hit with a wave of freshness and cleanliness. The layout is over four floors so not ideal for physically impaired visitors. However it has a wonderfully cosy feel inside. The kitchen is lovely and was adequate in terms of space for the two of us. It was well equipped with different options of cooking so you can take your choice. The outside space is great. You can either sit by the fire pit when it gets a bit chilly in the evening, or sit on the small lawned area for a cup of coffee. There is also a gas bar-b-q which we used and was very handy on a beautifully sunny afternoon, but the part we enjoyed the most was the decked area at the furthest part of the garden which included a lovely wood fired hot tub. The owner of the property Gordon came around everyday to fire up the hot tub and get it ready for when we wanted it later in the day. I cannot really emphasize how helpful Gordon was as a host. He went out of his way to make our stay as comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable as possible. If we are up that way again I will definitely look at staying again, and will certainly recommend it to any couples that we know. Thank you Gordon for everything you did.

Thank you for staying and your lovely comments. It was a pleasure to host the both of you. We would be delighted to host you again. Also a big thanks for keeping the cottage immaculate and of course the brilliant photos you took at night with everything lit up. Property Owner

  • "What a fantastic property Rivendell is combined with a superb host in Gordon."

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown round the house which was fully equipped with everything you could need. Lots of nice touches with the hot tub and fire pit being great additions. The location is ideal as a base for days out with beaches and tourist locations within an easy drive. Local shops are a few minutes drive away for any essentials you need to get and there is a Chinese takeaway in the village which is pretty good. All in all a great few days escape and would highly recommend to anyone.

Thanks Ben. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You were an absolute pleasure to host and left the cottage perfect. Hopefully we will see you both again in the future. Gordon & Kandy Property Owner

The property

Rivendell is a terraced, three-storey cottage nestled in the Flintshire village of Ffynnongroyw, along the North Wales coastline.

Based near a collection of amenities and benefitting from a fantastically presented garden with a woodfired hot tub, Rivendell invites families, couples and friends for a holiday in North Wales.

Enter into the homely sitting room, featuring a four seater sofa positioned in front of the woodburning stove, set in a beautiful inglenook fireplace, and finished with a Smart TV for entertainment.

From here, a door opens and leads down to the kitchen, perfect for rustling up home-cooked meals and feeding the group, assisted by a range cooker with electric ovens and gas hob.

Access the rear garden, deceptively large in size, offering patio stones, lawn and decking, with summer house and two seating areas, one covered, and finally a hot tub and decking with barbecue area.

Back inside, head upstairs and discover the first-floor, offering a double bedroom with Smart TV, whilst the second-floor offers a smaller 4ft double and a shower room.

Within the village lies a post office where you can grab any essentials, and two pubs, perfect for when you fancy a pint and meal out.

Five miles away lies the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, a 70 acre country park with woodland and 2000 years of history with lakes and ancient monuments, whilst in the other direction lies Talacre Beach, offering a large expanse of sand and shingle that is perfect for leisurely strolls, and for those birdwatching enthusiasts, the RSPB Point of Ayr-Dee Estuary is a must.

Outdoor lovers will appreciate a chance to explore the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or why not venture into the city of Chester and enjoy picnics in Grosvenor Park, shopping along the walls and a cruise along the River Dee.

All this and more awaits at Rivendell.
