  • "We really enjoyed our stay in the perfect location with stunning views!"

The harbour with a variety of places to eat is a short walk away down some steep steps. However, there is an alternative route along the road which is less steep for those less mobile. Parking out front was easy for two cars, although the parking is not allocated and this might be more of an issue in peak season. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable and was lovely and warm when we arrived on a cold day. It felt very homely. The kitchen is very well-equipped with all needs anticipated with the variety of equipment supplied. We made use of both the kitchen log burner and living room open fire and really appreciated that these were ready to go and well-supplied with firelighters, kindling and logs. The bedrooms were all a good size and the beds super comfortable and we loved the very good shower downstairs. Overall, we were very impressed by the cottage and had a lovely stay. We also appreciated the more relaxed approach by the owner when we didn't arrive to find a lengthy set of rules to abide by which can sometimes be the case... Instead, we arrived to a thoughtful bottle of wine and chocolates, bread and milk in the fridge and a friendly note welcoming us and providing the owner's details in case of any issues which we happily didn't have need of :-)

The cottage was in a great location for the town with free parking outside and fantastic views. The cottage was well-equipped (especially in the kitchen) with comfortable beds, Wi-Fi, guide books and plenty of hot water. We had no complaints at all and only wish we could have stayed longer!

It is in such a lovely position, overlooking the train station and inner harbour. The facilities are excellent, and you can use anything you want, in the kitchen, also best equip kitchen we have been in. The owner, makes an effort to introduce himself and make sure you are happy with everything. He kindly gave us, Cooking Apples from the family orchard. We definitely would go back to the house again.

You are always most welcome back and thank you for choosing Wenallt. The views of the Mountains, Steam Trains and Harbour is one of the best in the whole of North Wales. Plus customers can walking into town and yet be separate. Property Owner

It is a truly delightful house with everything we could possibly have wanted. Beautifully furnished with extremely comfortable beds and a huge kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and every kind of kitchen gadget and appliance and with a large table for family meals. There is a large, comfortable and cosy living room and a very impressive dining room and so many interesting books in every room. All the rooms at the front have fantastic views over Porthmadog harbour and to the mountains beyond - we could never tire of the wonderful view. There is a beautiful garden at the back with several levels where you can sit and relax, again with extensive views. The house was extremely clean and welcoming on our arrival and having bread and milk provided, as well as a bottle of wine and other treats, was very useful after a long journey. The owner has done so much to make guests feel welcome and make sure everything you could possibly need for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday is provided. Parking outside the house was easy and it is a short walk to Porthmadog Harbour and High Street. Our family had a wonderful holiday there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

The views are quite magical with the Mountains, Harbour and Steam Trains. I love the dying light reflecting on the Mountains and a Full Moon on the sea. My cleaning ladies will be delighted with your feedback and Aly Best my gardener. The customer comes first and thank you for choosing us again. Property Owner

The property was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Many thoughtful touches in the house (including fresh flowers). The steps to the garden are very steep (as stated in the property description) but it’s a lovely place to sit. The photos don’t do justice to the breadth of views from the mountains to the sea. Location is great, a short walk from the shops and everything but being set just above the town it feels very peaceful. Thank you Andrew for the warm welcome and for a wonderful stay. We will miss those views!

A well known travel books has said the views from the Terrace are among the best in Wales. The Mountains, Harbour and Steam Trains. I love a full moon reflecting on the sea. You are always welcome back. Property Owner

Beautifully updated to allow the house to speak for itself. Wooden/slate floors, open fireplace in the front room (already to light), stunning dining room, modern kitchen with all the gadgets you could wish for, sypathetically installed to give a traditional feel. Upstairs 3 bedrooms (two double one twin) all very comfy with beautiful views - and warm! Garden was lovely, wild & fragrant, had stunning views and various levels to sit at, but extremely steep (as stated). Was worth the climb - the back bedroom had a door leading directly out to the garden so avoiding the lowest set of steps! A lovely welcome on arrival with a note from the owner & various goodies to eat/drink. Location very good, easy walk into the town & to Borth y Gest & wonderful views of the harbour, train and mountains. All in all a fab place, superb location & great holiday. Thank you so much.

Please you had a happy time at Wenallt and enjoyed the views. Yes, walking access to town and the steam railway. Aly Best the Gardener will be happy with the positive feedback. Thank you for choosing us and you are always welcome back. Property Owner

  • "We loved this dog friendly house, the holiday begins with an explore of the listed building and tiered garden (steep steps up as stated in description) with wonderful views."

All the modern facilities you would expect, but in a house that beautifully reflects its past in its style and furnishings. There were some welcome gifts on our arrival and provision for milk tea and coffee .The wifi works well and the owner provides a range of streaming services including Disney. The kitchen has a wonderful slate floor and a family sized table complete with all mod cons including a double Ninja air fryer. Two bathrooms, one upstairs, traditional with a bath (separate toilet) and a modern downstairs shower room with toilet. In the kitchen, the owner has put together a purple information book about the house, area and kitchen utilities. Though the house is set on a hillside, heading left and down, steps down mean that you can be in the Porthmadog Harbour area in less than 5 minutes, or heading right and up the road from the house you can soon access the Welsh Coastal Path with walks to sandy beaches. Porthmadog is a great base for the Snowdonia National Park, heritage railway (less than 10 minutes walk), North Wales coast, including Anglesey and Conwy. I also recommend a visit to the Amber Falls whiskey distillery and the spectacular Amber Falls waterfall. I think this review indicates we would definitely like to return to Wenallt in the future.

Very well equipped and comfortable. Four adults, a baby and two dogs - we had plenty of room. The garden is very steep and the steps are difficult but the back bedroom has easier access to the garden via a door and bridge. The views are stunning. The garden is not suitable for children however, the house is on a quiet road and turning right as you exit the house there is a pleasant walk to the beach and cliff walks. Easy walk to the shops and railway but you cannot fail to linger and admire the stunning views of the Welsh mountains and pretty town below. Owner Andy very pleasant and accommodating and quickly answered a minor query. Thank you for the generous welcome pack.

You can tell the owner has put his heart into this property. It was like a real home. I’ve never seen such a well equipped kitchen with bread maker, air fryer and coffee machines. The beds were super comfy. Lovely fluffy towels. Thank you for the personalised welcome note and chocs, wine, scones, milk and bread. Much appreciated. Though cold I did sit in the garden with a cuppa and enjoyed the elevated views. Nice little areas of seating to enjoy with warmer weather. Garden very steep as described. As it was colder we enjoyed the open fire in the living room with plenty of logs and coal provided. Perfectly situated for a fantastic week enjoying the Welsh Highland Railway, Betys-y-coed, Borth-y-gest, Criccieth, Glaslyn Ospreys, so much to do that we’d love to come back again here.

It is one of the most beautiful holiday homes we've ever stayed in. From the original features and fittings to the book and art collection, it's a delight to stay in. As well as the aspect and proximity to the high street, pubs etc. and some fantastic coastal walks! The photos do NOT do it justice - particularly the bedrooms, which are really attractive and comfortable, and nicer than they appear on the website. Improvements - you could fit more seating into the lounge to suit a house that sleeps 6. Some larger pots and pans - no big sautee pan, just the one big saucepan.

Thank you for your feedback. I have had new beds , better quality linen, power shower and done the rooms up. I shall be passing Dunelm in Bangor and will get the items. We especially enjoyed the open fire in the lounge (as did the dogs!), settling down in front of it with a bottle of wine was the perfect end to a long day's walking. The view overlooking the marina and out into the estuary with the hills beyond was fantastic and not something you would ever tire of waking up to. Porthmadog itself has everything you need, high street stores but also local craft shops as well as a nice selection of delis, cafes, restaurants and friendly pubs most serving generous servings of the 'classics' often with a twist. (*We stayed a little out of season so it's worth checking before you go that the kitchens are open, it's not necessarily the case every night). Location wise you're ideally placed to explore the local area, Portmeirion is literally over the headland, the costal path will take you to Criccieth the other way or, when the tide is out, you can follow the stunning beaches all the way. Snowdon, Beddgelert, Harlech and Bala are all as short drive away and the Llyn Peninsular is there to explore. All in all, just perfect for us and we would absolutely recommend staying. Special thanks to Andrew for his generosity and welcome.
