  • "No working wifi despite advertised as having it."

Chemical toilet smelled awful so I didn’t use. Shower in block rarely had any hot water and lasted just about 30 seconds for every pound. On the positive side very comfy bed and good cooking facilities and also spacious decking outside with chairs and sun bed. Good location in the heart of Snowdonia. Overall I don’t think I would return.

  • "This is such a great find, perfect for me and my dog."

Lovely tranquil spot and scenery, and location wise it couldn't be better (10mins to Llanberis, 10mins to Caernarfon, 10mins to Bangor, 20mins over to Anglesey). It had everything you need at an affordable price. Not sure why people have given a bad review, this is glamping, on a camp site, so yes there is a separate shower block, and you refill your water bottles yourself, but it's right there next to the sheppard hut. And the parking is literally a few steps from your door. It's all very convenient and to have the chemical toilet inside the hut is a huge bonus for needing a wee in the night, a lot of sheppard huts don't have that. I can't fault this place and had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. Can't believe that previous people complained. Stop being so miserable and enjoy this little gem of a place for an excellent price.

  • "The shepherd hut we stayed in was poorly maintained, it had a chemical toilet which didn't work, and the kitchen tap was split so when you turned it on water sprayed everywhere."

Luckily there was a toilet and shower block that we could use,but to our digust it was absolutely filthy with no attempt to be cleaned.

We are sorry to hear there was an issue during your stay with the chemical toilet. We werent made aware of any issues, if we had been made aware of the issue we could have rectified this during your stay. Menai Holidays operate a 24 hours out of hours service where issues can be raised out of office hours. Kind Regards, Menai Holidays Property Owner

About the location

LLANRUG

Llanberis 2 miles; Caernarfon 4 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
