The accommodation was roomy, well-furnished and spotlessly clean. We were encouraged to enjoy the very pretty garden and summerhouse, which was a bonus. We also enjoyed the cake and other goodies provided. During the week we had good days out in Chester, Llandudno and Bodnant Gardens, and also visited St Winefride's Well, which was interesting.

Despite being near the ameneties, it feels very secluded because of the extensive garden and hedges. The owners live next door and completely respect your privacy while also being there for anything you need.

  • "My partner and I stayed at Bryn Offa cottage during Easter weekend."

The hosts Helen and Terry gave us a warm welcome, and it was lovely to arrive to fresh flowers, cake, chocolates and tea and coffee. There was a thoughtful Easter card as well. There was already milk in the fridge and ice in the freezer which we found useful. No need to rush off to the shop straight away, though Lidl and Tesco were just conveniently a short walk away. The cottage was immaculately clean and nicely decorated. All mod cons provided should you need them: washing machine, iron and ironing board. The garden was beautiful and spacious and it was a lovely place to relax listening to the birdsong. We did have a private patio but we were welcome to sit in any part of the garden we liked. Helen kindly gave us keys to the summerhouse at night when it was cold. We found Helen and Terry to be kind without being imposing. We got guidance on local attractions, walking routes and recommendations on places to eat. The selection of leaflets in the cottage was also helpful. We had a lovely stay and we both recommend this cottage for a relaxing break. Great location for the local attractions and others just a short drive away.

Helen and Terry are great hosts nothing to much trouble for them. They even left a cake 'chocolates ,tea coffee, and milk for us. Felt like they had been friends for years. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful gardens where you can sit and relax after a day out visiting the local attractions. The cottage is homely and is well equipped with everything you would need for your holiday. Holywell town centre is like a lot of places where the shops are closing but they have some good eating out places. Holywell has even a Jamaican restaurant. About 30 mins drive away you can arrive at rhyl ..and various other local villages so for us the cottage was ideal situated. As I like making things we managed to go to a massive unit just to look around the fabrics of upholstery and dressmaking . a week was not long enough for us to visit the various places in north wales. Misty waters restaurant pub do a lovely sunday carvery and they have a lovely outdoor seating which will be ideal in the sunny weather. Big gardens centre Jacksons is just down the road from holywell . As you can see we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and you could not get better hosts than Helen and Terry who will make you very welcome. Highly recommended..

HOLYWELL

Mold 9 miles; Prestatyn 10 miles; Chester 18 miles.

The market town of Holywell in North Wales takes its name from the town’s most famous attraction, the 7th century St Winefride’s Well, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Holywell boasts over 60 listed buildings, with a variety of late Georgian and Victorian buildings on offer, along with a pedestrianised shopping centre, pubs, restaurants and an open-air market every Thursday. Just one mile away are the 12th century ruins of Basingwerk Abbey within the grounds of the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, with its museum. There are many lovely walking routes in the area, including the open common area at Halkyn Mountain, Pennant Way, Offa’s Dyke and The Welsh Coastal Path. Within driving distance is the pretty Market town of Mold, which holds an outdoor market on a Wednesday and Saturday. The historic city of Chester, with its famous Rows, Roman Walls, racecourse, zoo, shops and restaurants is just over the border in England. Prestatyn, Rhyl, and of course Llandudno are also easily accessible, together with the majestic mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia).
