  • "This cottage is absolutely gorgeous and can't wait to return."

Perfect for a quiet relaxing break and perfect for our dogs, the view from the front decking is worth going for on its own. The cottage has been brilliantly refurbished, kitchen has everything, and the bath is fabulous. The view from the bedroom is stunning too. The neighbours are nice too, I would rather not recommend this property as I want to keep it for ourselves! 10/10.

  • "Aster cottage offers amazing views, a short drive to local beaches and a relaxing getaway."

The cottage was ideal for my dog as he could just watch the world pass by from the secure balcony. Just a couple of improvements for comfort would be to change the bed and mattress, the sofa probably needs repadding and the metal frame at the bottom of the stairs to the cottage tightening up. I would definitely go back there and stay.

Sophie and Jan were excellent hosts and living next door were able to help out with a small issue with TV. The cottage was equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay. My wife mentioned there was no hairdryer so ladies you may want to take your own. I did mention to Sophie some coat hooks by the front door would be handy for when coming in wet. The village was a handy 10 minute stroll with several shops and pubs to try. Would recommend the Indian take away, very yummy. Lovely walks from the door. Would definitely recommend and have no hesitation in rebooking in the future. Thanks again guys for the Welsh cakes and treats for Misty. Les & Jan

  • "A sweet little quarryman's cottage perched on a hillside with a tremendous view over the bay."

The owner is very helpful and attentive. The location is good for access to all the coastal resorts via the A55 and south there are lovely inland towns such as LLangollen, Denbigh and Betws-y-coed. The New Inn down the road serves excellent Fish and Chips and other pub fare at very reasonable prices and is dog friendly. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The staircase within the property is steep and might prove problematic for those with limited mobility. It is however very well-lit with stair lights. If you want to do your own cooking you should note that the kitchen is on two levels with two steps between.

  • "We did not stay at this property."

The area is unpleasant and very run down. The whole property was filthy with dust, grime and cobwebs. Furniture is tatty and paintwork needs redoing. Patio doors could not be used and there were no other windows to open downstairs meaning it was stifling. The layout was very unusual and I felt very claustrophobic. The door to the back of the property was extremely dirty and the steps outside leading up to a very unusable 'roof garden' were covered in moss, winter leaves and rubbish. It was a disgrace and obviously hadn't seen a clean for months. The owner said it would have taken 2 minutes to brush. Not the case. I was so upset and just couldn't have stayed there a moment longer. There is a dog next door that also barked constantly. The owner did offer to come and clean, bring a TV for the bedroom and brush the leaves but nothing could have rectified our feelings about this property. Sykes have advertised and misrepresented this property completely and it should not he allowed This cost a lot of money for 3 nights and I will never book with sykes again. Both the owner and sykes have refused to refund or compensate in any way even though photographic evidence has been provided. I've had to ring sykes several times as they have not replied or returned calls when promised. They do not want to know and I feel so strongly about how others should be warned. I will be taking this further. Avoid this place at all costs

You stayed in the property 30 minutes, it became apparent quite quickly that you were looking for any reason not to stay I have a cleaner for the property before every stay &I also go in following this for final touches I was sorry to hear you were leaving so soon after arriving. I offered to come to see what I could do (go over any cleaning you weren’t happy with). You declined this stating there were also no outdoor cushions (these are located under the stairs as per your welcome message, I also explained this on the phone) You stated you wanted it to be ‘bigger & better’, I again apologised that I couldn’t do anything re the size; unfortunately 200yr old 2bed cottages are not large ⁢ does not state it’s large on the listing. I am however sorry it wasn’t to your taste, i.e. décor/furniture. We have carefully tried to restore the original character of the cottage, the beams/stone work etc ,we’re disappointed it hasn’t been to the guests’ taste on this occasion In relation to the ‘unusable roof garden’ This isn’t a roof garden, it is access to outside at the back of the property, on the side of a mountain where there are trees, wildlife, birds of prey etc & this is actually higher than the ground floor of the property (sorry this felt unusual) We do hope the views in the front are a wow factor -guests usually enjoy the terrace/decking where there’s garden furniture overlooking the sea &mountains;. The back garden area isn’t necessarily a main point of focus for our guests. However, guests are welcome to utilise the back if preferred, given the opportunity, we could have rectified this & made the rear of the property a focus for your stay. You would not allow me the opportunity to tend to the leaves in the back, there was no ‘rubbish’ in the back garden however. Re the area - I’m sorry you didn’t like Dyserth We have never received this feedback before We’re extremely grateful for the guests so far & we’ll continue to do our utmost to ensure guests enjoy their stay with us. Sophie was very welcoming and although we had no specific issues, assured us we could easily contact her if we required anything. The cottage has everything you'd need. My son (8) loved it and even mentioned how good he was sleeping throughout the week. My only somewhat negative was me and my wife found the mattress a little uncomfortable but i wouldn't lower the rating for it and my son found his really comfortable. Thanks again Sophie. The cottage is beautiful and it had great views over Dyserth and beyond. We had to contact the hosts once about something and they were polite and helpful. The only negative points, they are renovating the property next door which is noisy during the week and on the other side of the property the dog barks constantly when the owner is out, other than that would still recommend.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Aster cottage."

The cottage is situated in a beautiful village with fabulous views across to the coast. The cottage is well appointed and relaxing - the only improvement would be a shower instead of just a bath with a hand held shower (although due to the layout of the cottage I understand that this is probably not possible) and the stairs are steep which may be useful to know for elderly people (and elderly dogs!) - there is a baby gate though which is helpful. The local area is stunning and we visited Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed which were beautiful. There is a pub (Y-Bodunig) 5 minutes walk away which was dog friendly and a 10 minute walk down to the waterfall where there are another two pubs. Just outside of the village is a gorgeous dog friendly pub in Cwm which is lovely with great food and within walking distance. We found Dyserth to be friendly and welcoming and the small lane where the cottage is situated is lovely and quaint. Parking is tight but this could just be down to me not being the best driver! All in all, a gorgeous cottage in a lovely relaxing area.

Thank you for the great review and really helpful feedback! We’d love to have a shower as well as a bath, however isn’t possible with the layout of everything. Hopefully the hand held shower was manageable for you. Really pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the area in general ☺️ Would love to welcome you back in the future Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful holiday at Aster Cottage, the perfect home from home to explore North Wales."

The cottage is in a fantastic location with stunning views or the coast and Snowdonia National Park, I’ll miss waking up to those views! We had a nice message from Sophie, the owner, on arrival. The kitchen was very well equipped, as was the living room with comfy sofas and large tv. The stairs were very steep, but there was a stair gate to put at the top for our toddler so we managed fine. The free standing bath is fab, although a bit slower to get ready with no shower. We ran out of gas a couple of times, which meant no heating, hot water or ability to cook whilst it was getting sorted, but Sophie was very quick and accommodating and replaced it as quickly as possible, even on a Sunday when there were few places open to buy new gas canisters. The village of Dyserth is lovely and has a beautiful waterfall within short walking distance - a must see. We had a toddler with us who was a bit under the weather so did less walking than we’d have liked, but had lovely family days out with our dog exploring the village, at Llandudno, Prestatyn beach front, Bodnant Gardens, and a trip to Llanberis to do the Lake Railway. Small note that many things in the area are closed in February, which we knew and planned for. It was nice a quiet! Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day!
