  • "The property is lovely, the photos don't do it justice."

The living room with the fire place is stunning and very relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped. The children were very happy in their bedrooms and the main double bed was extremely comfortable, we had very good nights sleep. A great location on the edge of the village with a beautiful view of the valley from the patio. The gorge walk from the door of the property is well worth doing and you are close to the main area of Snowdonia. We would definitely recommend the property to others. John was very helpful and accommodating, thank you.

The milk, and wine on arrival were a lovely touch. Only downside was that it could have been slightly cleaner _ however I would definitely stay there again

  • "One of the best properties we have stayed in."

The cottage was well equipped with lots of extras that we have not seen in other cottages. The furnishings are comfortable and We made good use of the outdoor space and the weather allowed us to sit out most evenings and enjoy the view. The location is great with lots of places to visit within 45 mins, and was lovely that John called to check we were ok and gave us some ideas of places to visit. The book of photos showing the conversion of the barn was really interesting.

  • "Yr Hen Dy is a great place to stay."

Comfortable and well equipped with great views down the valley and across the hills . Its ideally suited in Ffestiniog for visiting anywhere in and around Snowdonia , Port Merrion , down the coast to Harlech and beyond, up to Llandudno. The local shop has most things you may need and there's some good places to eat nearby. It suited us perfectly and we hope to return in future

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Yr Hen Dŷ, the facilities were excellent, and the setting superb."

Our only slight niggle was lack of seating in the lounge area. As the cottage could accommodate five people , there was a large sofa which seated three comfortably and an armchair. Wasn't quite enough for five people. Four on the sofa would have been just a bit tight. We brought a small chair out from a bedroom to accommodate the fifth person, but a second armchair would have been welcome. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely think about going again.

  • "A charming cottage with a beautiful view of fields and hills in a quiet and peaceful location."

The village has a shop and pub within easy walking distance. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and, although we didn't use it, the log burner would have been cosy on a chilly evening. The owner ensured he was available if we had any questions.

  • "Hy Hen Dy was great."

It was spotlessly clean, and the communication and support from the owner was great, John was very helpful. The facilities were excellent with plenty of storage and there was a lot of attention to detail ... books, games, bathroom products and kitchen essentials. We really liked the location and the local community pub round the corner was very welcoming. This is a fantastic place to stay and really good value for money.

The kids loved zip world and the underground trampolines. We loved the walks and the beautiful scenery. The walk to cynfal falls from the cottage is fantastic. John the owner was a great host and even offered to let us stay in the cottage for two more days as we had some bad weather during the week and our trip up snowdon was cancelled because of gale force winds. Much appreciated! We will definitely be back to Yr Hen Dy.

During our stay there was a drop in external temperatures but the cottage was nice and warm. Efficient central heating and log burning stove with adequate supply of logs provided by the owner (at no extra cost). The owner was attentive without being intrusive. Towards the end of the week we had a problem with the TV and the owner was with us within the hour to deal with this. Recommend this cottage without hesitation.

  • "You are very private and secluded in this house, with a nice view of the valley, great walks from the door, but you are on the edge of a village with a useful shop and a pub."

The farm is small and very quiet. Two other pubs are a short drive. The location is also very central, with Harlech Beach, Portmeirion, and loads of other things all withing easy reach. You can get over to Betws y Coed and Conwy easily too. It is very well arranged, really great bathroom and brilliant shower. It is a new conversion and very easy to live in. The owner is very friendly and not intrusive. Definitely recommend it.

  • "We had a lovely stay in this cottage and it had everything you could possibly need."

It’s really nicely laid out, spacious, plenty of storage and a great outdoor area with lovely views. The only disappointing element of our stay was the cleanliness. The main bedroom carpet was full of hair, we tried to hoover this up ourselves but the hoover is all noise and suction. The kitchen was clean to look at, but as soon as you moved anything it was dirty behind. Appreciate you get spider webs in a barn conversion but they could have easily been cleaned up around the map and windows. If cleanliness was at a higher standard this cottage would be exceptional.

Lack of wi-fi could be annoying for some people, but reasonable mobile phone signal was available. The cottage has obviously been a popular holiday destination for many visitors and would benefit from some running repairs e.g. window and wardrobe in double bedroom, and perhaps an extra saucepan for people who enjoy cooking whilst on holiday. On balance, I would certainly return to Yr Hen Dy for another holiday, awarding it 5 stars for comfort, tranquility and the warm welcome from John and the lambs!

  • "The photos of Yr Hen Dy don't do it justice."

It's a lovely cottage with smart and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is well kitted out with a lack of a sieve and blunt knives the only issues (blunt knives are fairly common in holiday cottages and I usually take one of my own). The bedrooms are clean and comfortable and it was nice to have a really good shower in the bathroom. Although the cottage doesn't have wifi and the mobile signal is patchy we managed just fine with books, games and tv. There is a lovely walk from the cottage that goes down to Cynfal Falls which you shouldn't miss. I would definitely recommend the cottage if you're looking for a place to stay near Snowdon.
