  • "We were a party of 13 who were on our annual walking holiday."

Everyone commented on the house and facilities, which were brilliant. Only one little niggle … the oven in the downstairs kitchen doesn’t have a shelf. Otherwise, the location, views , facilities and standard of comfort were excellent.

We were a party of 14 plus 1 dog. Ample parking and well maintained lawned garden, The house was warm and, where required, secondary heaters available. Beds were comfortable and linen and towels of excellent quality. Both kitchens were very well equipped and the main dining area provided lovely views. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

The house is beautiful. It has everything and more that you need. The views are stunning. The grounds were immaculate as was the house it self. Highly recommend this property

  • "Wonderful place to stay for a big family."

A few minor tips. Given that it sleeps 18, perhaps one toilet roll in each bathroom is a bit mean. Plus, we found there weren't enough black bags and dishwasher tablets. If you have children with you and if you are planning on going to the beach, take your own towels. Given we paid nearly £4,000 for a week, stinting on towels, dishwasher tablets, bin bags and toilet paper seems a bit mean. It didn't stop us having a great time, though and the house, location and grounds are amazing. "Best holiday ever. When are we coming back" was the verdict of the kids.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay."

We were a party of 11 adults which, in view of the flooding of the annex, was just about a comfortable number . Location was great for us and enjoyed the walk around the lake to the sea. Great use of the space, especially the top floor lounge. Yes, very enjoyable.

  • "It probably needs new bigger beds in most rooms."

Most of the adults in our party had trouble sleeping as the mattress were uncomfortable. We are all mostly tall and struggled in the twins and doubles with the length. The main dishwasher wasn't working. So we did a lot of hand washing in the end as we got fed up of going down to load the one downstairs We didn't let the 2 things above blight our holiday though. We all had lots of fun celebrating my 60th birthday It really is a perfect location for a friend's and family get together. Enough room to find some quiet time if you need it. The 2 young children with our party loved the play area outside and on the top floor.

I am sorry that you didn't find the beds big enough. They are European sized beds so slightly larger than UK beds, but we will look at getting bigger ones when the time comes to replace them. Thanks for letting us know that the dishwasher was broken. We have now put in a new one. I'm glad you enjoyed the space and the children made the most of the top floor. Our children love playing up there too. Property Owner

  • "Plas Newydd is a beautiful house and we all had a great weekend here."

However, the listing shows 8 bathrooms, 6 of which are en-suite, but in fact there are only 7 bathrooms and one WC. There were 4 single ladies in our party and it would have meant them all having to share one bathroom while all the couples had their own. For this reason, we also had to rent The Lodge at nearby Plas Caravan Park to accommodate us all comfortably. The people staying in The Lodge joined us to eat and spend the evenings, then had to walk back - admittedly only a five minute walk but in the pitch dark. The two bedrooms with bay windows were beautiful and spacious. Most of the others were on the small side and some had no wardrobes and nowhere to hang clothes. We were unable to get the dishwasher in the main kitchen on the first floor to work and we were therefore having to carry dishes down to the ground floor kitchen, involving several journeys, given the number of us eating there. We were a group of friends in our 60s and 70s. I am sure that families staying at Plas Newydd would find it easier to overcome the few difficulties that we had. Having said all that, we all had a good time and the problems were not insurmountable.

I will correct the advert as it should say 7 bathrooms so I apologise about that. It looks like the text is correct in the description, but wrong at the top. Thank for you letting us know about the issue with the dishwasher. I gather the holiday agency sent someone to repair it, but we have since put in a brand new dishwasher to make sure that it works. • "Stayed Friday-Monday 6-8th Jan 23."

Fantastic property, perfect for our family of 14 10 adults & 4 x 3 year olds. the top floor is perfect for the children play area, watching the trains and planes as they went by,they loved it. This was by far the best bonding holiday we have had, the space on the first and second floor made it just perfect. I tried to book again for next year fri-mon (the friday is my birthday) but could not as the friday fell within the New year week and would cost us £5000 more for picking the Friday instead of Saturday!!! gutted as the children are in school on the Tuesday. so cannot book it and the late check in of pm means we will lose most of Saturday. such as shame as we didnt want to leave :-(

Hi Julie. I'm glad you had a lovely time. Do check the house again nearer the time because the peak rate restrictions get relaxed if the property is still available and you may be able to book the extra day without booking the whole week. Its always worth getting in touch with Menai and asking too. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic property for our family to celebrate a special birthday."

Had everything you needed to look after yourselves. Great views and location The access for a wheelchair user was blocked by a large bush which should be removed, otherwise a great place to stay.

Thank you for the feedback. We'll have another go at getting rid of the bush as it is not acceptable to block the wheelchair/buggy access. Property Owner

  • "We had a great time!"

The house was lovely with so much space. It was also very comfortable. The only issue we had was that the hot water ran out within 24 hours of us being there. We had to contact the Sykes cottages to help us. Eventually, we managed to get the hot water back by pressing the booster button but this did mean that many of the party weren't able to get a shower/bath until the following day. This came to a surprise because the welcome note states that we will have plenty of hot water (20 baths apparently). We also noticed some dishes were dirty and the food processor didn't work. Overall we loved our stay in this massive house and such a great location.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I am very sorry to hear about the hot water running out. We were doing our best with an old system that came with the house, but that has just been completely replaced with a state of the art eco heat pump that continuously drives the hot water. Should you stay again you should find the hot water supply much improved. We'll check out the problem with the food processor and check that the dishwasher is working properly also. These items are checked regularly, but obviously something has gone wrong in the meantime so we'll get that fixed. Property Owner

  • "The house was cold on arrival."

I also feel due to the price paid we would have expected washing up liquid and bin liners in the main kitchen, especially as the owner expressed wishes that that we recycle. It was not clear where to do this, as there was only one general bin outside. However we did enjoy ourselves and the house is beautiful and in a lovely position.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We've just had a new eco heat pump installed with new radiators to replace the older system that came with the house. You will find the house to be much warmer if you return for another winter break. Regarding the other items, we'll have a word with the housekeeping staff as those things should be provided in both kitchens along with other essentials like loo paper and dishwasher tabs. Recycling is sorted by the waste removal company so that is why there is only one bin. Property Owner

  • "There was a misunderstanding about the hot water."

Some of us had a shower in the morning because we were going on a walk and the plan was to all get showers before going for a meal. However, the water was freezing when we got back and nobody could get washed. So ended up staying in. Sykes cottages came back with a quick response and talked through instructions. I feel that there should be more information regarding heating, water and fuse boxes etc. Overall it is a beautiful house

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad Sykes responded quickly. We've just had a new eco heat pump installed to continuously heat the hot water. This means that you should not run out of hot water should you return for another holiday. The old system was described on the welcome note, but the new system you will find much improved.
