"Excellent property loved the weekend stay we had for my daughter’s birthday."
Exceptionally clean and well organised with a lovely local pub that serves great food. 5 stars one of the best accommodations we have booked so far.
-
"A wonderful cottage in the heart of North Wales, the cottage was in pristine condition and well maintained."
This was our second stay and it failed to disappoint, we will be staying here again.
-
"Excellent well equipped and comfortable house in an ideal location to explore North Wales."
Convenient shop and pub opposite the house. Good meals in the local pub The Old Stag and also the Black Lion in the next village. Everything required for a relaxing break.
-
"Excellent property, lovely stay there many thanks Graham"
-
"Perfect in every way."
Home from Home. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds. Welcome pack included a fabulous home made Lemon Drizzle cake. Good location for exploring north Wales. Great pub opposite the cottage, served very nice food. We had a great stay, would highly recommend.
-
"Fantastic property, great location."
We had some minor problems with a broken kettle and toilet flush that were dealt with fairly promptly during our stay with minimal impact on our holiday. I would thoroughly recommend this rural Welsh property for a family break with Sykes. Thanks for looking after us guys :-)
-
"We had a lovely week at the house it was spotless all furnishings of a high standard."
Comfy beds great showers and lovely high quality linen kitchen well equipped Cake butter and milk appreciated. Had 2 meals at the Stagg Inn lovely food and very welcoming
-
"We had a wonderful time, thank you so much for your incredible hospitality."
The house was beautiful and everything has been thought of. Couldn’t recommend enough, we’d love to come back x
-
"We had an excellent stay."
The house was absolutely beautiful and clean and as described in the information given. Cleanliness, setting, facilities all 10/10 and we would recommend to anyone. Perfect!
-
"Our second visit to this fabulous house (and our third already booked for next year !"
) The house was so warm and welcoming on our arrival and everything was spotlessly clean. Everything is provided for a comfortable stay (although we didn't feel the need to use the log burner). Milk, butter and a delicious lemon loaf were a bonus as were the fresh flowers. Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are about 10 miles to the north and Betws Y Coed (which could be described as the gateway to the Snowdonia Mountain Range) is about 12 miles west. so the location is ideal. The village pub opposite is really friendly and serves good pub food.
-
"Beautiful cottage, lovely decor and well maintained."
Gorgeous Welsh soft furnishings in bedrooms and slate art around the place, lovely touches and attention to detail.
-
"Stunning property in a lovely villiage location."
Spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished. Have a great stay will definitely return again in the future. Thank you for the cake x
-
"Absolutely stunning property in a beautiful little village."
The house was exceptional. The 4 bedrooms one with ensuite, all had comfortable beds and gorgeous bed linen. The dining kitchen-family room was our favourite place with a lovely log burner to warm us up. The whole house was beautiful and cleaned to a very high standard, although we didn't cook in except for breakfast there was plenty of pots and pans if you wanted too. The village pub "the old stagg" served gorgeous food and also provided a take away service, so we opted to eat there, in addition a 6 minute drive out of the village was the "Black lion" the food here is outstanding. Overall we had the best winter holiday in Llys Alaw and would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting a perfect holiday. We book lots of cottages via sykes and this one was simply the best yet.
-
"Gorgeous house with everything you need around it for a lovely weekend away."
So lovely and clean when we arrived, cake, milk, butter, tea and coffee were left for us which was a nice little touch.
-
"Llys Alaw was of a very high standard."
Comfortable beds. Plenty of space for our group. Everything we needed in the kitchen. Perfect in everyway. Donebto a very high standard.
-
"The cottage exceeded our expectations The warmth and welcome gift that greeted was a lovely way to start our long weekend."
Every detail and finish was of a high standard and quality. We loved the cottage so much we actually booked it again for the following year. The location is great, close to a brilliant pub and a 4000 year old yew tree.
-
"It is a beautiful property."
The beds are really comfortable and there was plenty of room for everyone. Everything you could need is supplied and the lemon drizzle cake is fabulous. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
-
"This was a fantastic break for us all."
The cottage was spotless on arrival and the lemon drizzle cake that was waiting for us was extremely tasty. The cottage is in an excellent position to explore North Wales and having The Old Stag pub just beside the cottage was an added bonus. Everything we needed ( there was 7 of us) was provided. Highly recommend this cottage to stay in.
-
"Excellent. You provided everything."
The beds were very comfortable and the property was spacious and extremely clean. Warm and cosy. Home from home l.
-
"We had a really great stay at the cottage."
My only feedback would be that 5pm for check in is quite late and 10am quite early. It would also be great if there was a mirror in the twin bedroom. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you would need. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
-
"Lovely property and location."
The people in the shop opposite were very helpful and friendly. Ideally situated to visit nearby places. Our only criticism was that we could not get into the house before 5.00 pm when other holiday accommodation is normally 3.00 pm. Apart from that everything else was Lovely.
-
"Great property, very clean upon arrival and extremely well appointed - everything you could possibly need was provided."
There was ample parking next to the property along with a lovely garden. Plenty to see and do within a thirty to forty minute drive. Quirky pub in the village that did a very good Sunday dinner. Well stocked village shop with a very friendly and helpful owner. All in all, adults and children had a great holiday at Llys Alaw. Just make sure you take care when driving out of the property, there is a very restricted view of the road.
-
"Lovely place, very clean and comfortable."
Nice touch leaving a delicious lemon sponge cake . Good meals in Village pub opposite . We were lucky with the weather so made good use of the lovely garden .
-
"Great property, nice and spacious, can’t fault it at all"
-
"Wonderful long weekend in this comfortable and well equipped property."
As two families with teenage children the spacious bedrooms and two living room areas were appreciated. The kitchen was the best stocked of anywhere we have ever stayed and everything had been thought of for us. The beds were comfortable and the welcome pack was much appreciated (especially the lemon drizzle cake!) We hope to return.
-
"Lovely, clean and well appointed cottage."
Had a great weekend and would stay again. Can highly recommend.
-
"A very nice property and location."
The pub across the road was a bonus. The garden was good for the children. The toilets upstairs were not the best. Seats not fitted properly and flushing mechanism not working. Other than that everything was good.
-
"Fantastic property renovated to a beautiful standard."
Exceeded our expectations as some properties we’ve stayed in have had older pictures so never sure what to expect. It was a perfect location for exploring north wales and further !! Village was lovely with a friendly local pub and shop both a stones throw. Thank you so much for the lovely welcome and delicious lemon drizzle. Would highly recommend and really hope to return at some point in the future. Kind Regards Darren.

"We walked into the property and felt immediately at home."
The kitchen was stunning - spacious, large fridge and separate freezer and everything you needed in a kitchen was provided. The beautiful table and sofas next to the fireplace in the dining area made it our favourite hang-out room for the weekend. Upstairs was also amazing, all the bedrooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom and en-suite were amazing. It also had a beautiful living room, a utility room with a washing machine and a downstairs wet room. We have stayed in a few cottages but this property blew the competition out of the water! The owners have thought of everything and even left us a home made lemon drizzle cake (which I can honestly say was the nicest I’ve ever tasted!)!. Pub across the road served a lovely Sunday lunch and there was also a village shop for anything you need there. If you are after a relaxing weekend with plenty places to visit a short distance away, this is the perfect place. We would definitely (and have already) recommend it to friends.
-
"A fabulous property - my wife and I can't wait to return !"
We can highly recommend it. Spotlessly clean and cosily warm in the cold and partly snowy week we stayed. We didn't feel the need to use the log burner in the kitchen / dining room. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfy and the en suite with a walk in shower was particularly useful. The coast and mountains are easily accesible being about 30 minutes away in either direction. The Old Stag pub opposite is very friendly and serves decent pub food. In Llanrwst, 15 minutes away, we found Jones the butchers and Scilicorns the bakers to be very good. A mention too for Sykes Cottages who arranged with the owners an extra 2 days stay for us as my wife had spotted a small gap in their bookings schedule and we were able to stay a little longer.
-
"We had a wonderful time at Llys Alaw."
The cottage was beautiful and perfect for our family needs. We loved the extra touches of children’s colouring books and reading books! The location was perfect for some lovely days out and we will definitely go back again!
-
"We had a wonderful stay at Llys Alaw over Christmas."
How lovely to arrive & be greeted by festive lights, twinkling throughout the cottage. Our family group ranged in age from 85 to 2 years young and we were all very cosy & comfortable in this beautiful, well equipped, spotlessly clean house. The owners have thought of everything and the decor is gorgeous. Our two small granddaughters were very happy with the little gifts that ‘Santa’ left for them- thank you. Llangernyw is a friendly village, in a really scenic location with a little shop & pub across the way from the house- both much appreciated. We had some lovely trips to Betws y Coed, Llandudno, Bodnant Gardens & Portmeirion. Enjoyable, despite the winter weather. Thank you for a really happy stay.
-
"Such a lovely warm welcome to this immaculate property on a cold winters night."
Absolutely everything had been thought of and the quality of the furnishings was excellent. Very friendly pub directly across the road serving good food. Would highly recommend.
-
"We had an amazing family weekend at Llys Alaw, the cottage certainly lived up to expectations."
It acomadated us all very comfortably. The Stag pub over the road was the icing on the cake. The village it's self was so full of history. Thank you so much for the truly delicious lemon drizzle cake, it was a lovely touch. Would definitely would return at some point.
-
"Fabulous house for a family holiday."
-
"What a fantastic holiday home !"
The best we’ve stayed in to date . Beautiful decor , very modern, clean , lovely bedding , every detail was perfect . We did have an issue with the fridge not sealing well but have passed this on to owner , we used a chair to keep it shut properly. Didn’t spoil our stay at all .And mustn’t forget the delicious lemon cake left for us
-
"A very beautiful cottage, and an excellent location."
Fully deserved 5 stars. A lot of thought has gone in to design and details to ensure period features with modernisation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again soon. The dishwasher was broken so the owners left a note with a bottle of wine - a gesture well appreciated. A special feed back from in-laws who arrived from India and stayed with us at the cottage - very well thought out and maintained. Very neat, clean and tidy. The listing was 100% accurate. Even they would like to come back again ! The only little nuisance(I know this is nitpicking) is the position of toilet roll holders - they are behind you next to the cistern tank that can make it difficult to reach. My mother-in-law struggled as she’s got a shoulder problem and cannot move her arm freely.
-
"A lovely well appointed property in a village location."
We thoroughly enjoyed our week here in this home from home. Its in the centre of the village with the post office/shop and pub opposite so no need for a designated driver. I would recommend this property even though its in a farming area and there can be some agricultural traffic. We had a fabulous time and a big thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome.
-
"Lovely house opposite a pub, with excellent food."
Very clean and a well equipped kitchen, lovely decor and very spacious house. A couple of negatives, no hairdryers and bath towels the size of a hand towel! And a very nice garden across an access road which wasn't a problem for us but should be mentioned in the house description. We all enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
-
"Lovely, we’ll equipped house."
We were a party of four adults and four children and there was plenty of room for all. The second lounge was a godsend where the older kids could play on their Xbox away from us! There is a good local shop and post office across the road. We had Sunday lunch in, and a couple of takeaways from, the pub opposite. Both very good. All in all, I couldn’t recommend this property highly enough.
-
"Absolutely lovely house, everything you could need is provided."
It was very clean and welcoming. We really could not fault the property. Will definitely stay again
-
"The best holiday cottage we’ve stayed in."
Fantastic amenities, super clean and even left a welcome lemon cake to start our break. We will definitely be back.
-
"We had a lovely stay here again, plenty of space for two families to be really comfortable , with room to spare."
-
"We had such an amazing time at this property."
Everything you could possibly think of are covered. We have already looked to book again.
-
"What a fantastic cottage, so clean and spacious."
Arrived with four of our friends with fresh flowers and a home made lemon cake waiting for us. Cottage has everything to accommodate 8 adults. Unfortunately on this occasion we didn't sit in the private garden, this would be a lovely place to sit out in the summer months, nearest thing to your own private beer garden. A couple of days out, easy drive to Llandudno and Anglesey for a walk on the quiet beech with stunning views to the Snowdonia mountain range. Went to The Old Stag just over the road for our Saturday evening meal, food was great and the staff were so friendly. We are definitely coming back next summer. I would strongly recommend this cottage.
-
"This is a beautiful cottage, with a very high standard of cleanliness."
Very homely and cosy, a lot of thought has gone into making it a lovely holiday cottage. We highly recommend it.
-
"The little extras on arrival made our holiday."
It was warm and cosy, milk in the fridge, fresh flowers on the table and a delicious lemon cake.
-
"A very well equipped and comfortable cottage which has everything you need for a relaxing stay."
Location is a bit remote but it is central for visiting the North Wales coast, Snowdonia with lots to see. There is also a pub, serving food, and a shop within 50m. Despite it being on the main road traffic noise was not an issue.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, perfect for exploring the area."
There's a small well stocked shop opposite, and a pub across the road that does evening meals. We will definitely be booking again.
-
"Lovely well equipped, beautifully presented and comfortable house."
Spotlessly clean and met all of our needs. Ideally situated for touring North Wales. The welcome pack was a great addition. Thank you.
-
"We stayed in this cottage 2 years ago so knew what to expect this time when we returned."
And we were looking forward to it very much because this cottage is spacious (for 2 families) and beautifully furnished. It has a lovely big family kitchen/diner area which works really well, and with 5 kids the enclosed garden is really good. We like the location too, set in beautiful countryside. Although I guess it’s still at least 45 minutes to all the places we visited. Our only negative about the cottage is the noise - the main bedroom above the kitchen/diner seems to have very thin floors so you can hear voices and noice from below.
-
"The perfect holiday in the most beautiful, well equipped cottage."
Home from home, attention to detail was impeccable. Definitely will be coming back.
-
"An exceptional property."
Large, spacious and excellently appointed in a lovely Welsh village. Absolutely stunning! Would not hesitate to recommend.
-
"We visited Llys Alaw for 4 nights as a group of uni friends."
It was the perfect base for exploring Snowdonia: we hiked Snowdon, visited Conwy Castle and travelled to Anglesey for a beach day. The cottage itself is immaculately presented, with gorgeous interior design. The 3 bathrooms made it perfect for a big group when we were all trying to get ready at the same time. Lastly, we can highly recommend The Old Stag pub opposite - we ate there 2 nights.
-
"Cottage was fantastic."
Owners have done a wonderful job of ensuring holiday makers have everything they need. We absolutely loved our stay
-
"The cottage was brilliant and everything was to a high standard."
There was nothing else we could of required. The only problem was and for us, and it was a large one.. as the garden itself is across a small access road, we could not let the children play in it alone .. the cottage is situated on a busy road junction.. and the football kept going over the fence and the children were running out after it.. children’s ages 5,2,11. Was very stressful .. ideally could do with gates at the end of the access road. That was the only problem for us, if you don’t have small children it would be fine. But it was an amazing place to stay and would highly recommend it.
-
"We loved staying in this cottage, it had everything you could need, the owners even left tea, coffee, sugar, butter, milk and a lemon loaf which tasted amazing!"
I would love to know who did the interior design! Cannot wait to stay here again!
-
"Lovely accommodation, very clean and kitchen very well appointed."
The bedrooms are all sizeable with very comfortable beds and a nice en-suite for one room. The property is in a perfect position with a local shop/Post Office immediately across the road and a country pub with good dining within 30 yards. The property is well positioned as a holiday base in North Wales giving easy access to Snowdonia as well as the coast including Anglesey.
-
"It was a lovely house, very comfortable and we had a wonderful holiday."
-
"Went with 3 generations."
Lovely spacious property. Nice garden for the children. Had a lovely time. Only one minor criticism, the bath towel could have been larger.
-
"This holiday home is perfect and very well equipped (only things really missing are hair dryers, but has everything else you could possibly need) it was very clean and tidy and we very much enjoyed our stay."
-
"Myself and 7 others traveled here for a New Year's getaway and we were blown away at how beautiful the property was!"
The condition of the property was immaculate and the location was great. The hosts were extremely helpful and were available to contact throughout our stay in case we had any questions. If you're looking for a nice quiet break in the Welsh countryside, this is certainly the place for you.
-
"Fantastic place to stay."
Property is well thought out. All you need for a self catering holiday is an and around the property. Like home from home, but relaxing. Excellent location with a shop and nice pub
-
"One of the best holiday rentals we have ever been to."
-
"We stayed at Llys Alaw Cottage for a long weekend, the house is a credit to the owners."
It far exceeded our expectations, it definitely has the wow factor when you walk in. The house is tastefully decorated through out , modern but with in keeping of the property. We couldn’t fault anything, it was immaculate. The fresh flowers and a homemade lemon drizzle cake which was delicious were a lovely touch from the owners. We were a family of 8, 6 adults and two children celebrating our Silver Wedding. Thanks so much xx
-
"We booked a stay at Llys Alaw to celebrate a special family occasion and everything about our stay was perfect."
The cleanliness, room sizes, quality of fixtures/fittings and kitchen supplies were superb. Very much a home from home feeling with everything you need and a wonderful welcome cake too! There were also games for the children, information on the local area and attractions too. All of us cannot wait to stay here again.
-
"Beautiful house in a fantastic location!"
Very very tempted to declare squatters rights!
-
"I would just like to say what an amazing stay we had at this beautiful house."
The attention to detail and presentation is by far the best we have come across. The owners have lovingly restored this property and from walking in through the door you feel like it’s a home and not just somewhere to stay. Everything you could possibly need has been thoughtfully provided. I can not recommend this property enough and will definitely be re booking as it’s situated in an ideal location to explore the beautiful surroundings.
-
"Well appointed."
Very clean, well decorated and well planned accommodation. Everything in order with a very useful folder to help navigate appliances, recycling and other aspects of cottage. We found everything we needed in the cottage and appreciated the welcome gifts.
-
"We were two families of 4 who based ourselves in the lovely Llys Alaw cottage for 4 days of adventure in Snowdonia."
When we arrived we found the cottage very clean and welcoming - everything was provided for us including towels and dishwasher tablets, right down to electric candles and spare batteries. The decor was really nice and fresh and we loved eating together around that giant table in the kitchen area. The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and it just worked really well. We will definitely come back here for future holidays. The village location is good for access to different parts of snowdonia, and the cottage location in the village itself is prime. It's literally 10 seconds walk to the local pub which served really nice food. The provision of 2 private parking spaces, a private garden, and a private courtyard with lockable shed for our bikes was really practical for our needs. I really recommend this cottage and wish the owners all the best.. They were so kind as to leave some treats for our arrival - a really nice and personal touch.
-
"Wow this cottage was beautiful and the owners had literally thought of everything."
Lots of thoughtful touches to ensure we could make the very best of the weekend. The location was lovely with a pub and shop just over the road and we accessed lots by car although did not really explore what was on our doorstep. Would definitely recommend and look to stay again a truely beautiful property that has been refurbished to a lovely standard.
-
"I have stayed in many holiday cottages in the past but this has got to be the best yet."
The property is ideally situated, close to Colwyn Bay and the North Wales coast but also within reach of the Snowdonia National Park and the Llyn Peninsula. The immediate surroundings are very quaint; the tiny village is made up of a few houses, a pub (serving good, reasonably priced food) and a small shop/post office. The cottage itself is beautifully renovated with incredible attention to detail. I have never stayed anywhere that has been so well resourced: there is an abundance of crockery, cutlery, glassware; every pot, pan, dish, jug, utensil you could need as well as the little essentials that are often forgotten e.g. matches, dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, tea towels etc. The open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area is a great place to relax in with it's huge log burner fire place. We never actually used the separate lounge as we found this room so comfortable. The bedrooms are all spacious, light and beautifully furnished and decorated with very comfortable beds. The bathroom, en-suite and wet room are all immaculate with modern showers and tiling - beautifully finished! We were very fortunate to have excellent weather for our 3 day stay and made good use of the lovely garden. There is plenty of outdoor seating and a large BBQ as well as plenty of grass for the children to play on. Finally, I must also give the extremely generous welcome pack a mention - quite incredible and much enjoyed!
