  • "We stayed in this property from Monday-Friday."

The accommodation is in a great location with scenic views and a short distance to the local town and supermarket. The property was well equipped, clean and comfortable, however there are some areas in which improvements could be made. * the element of the grill is not working * unpleasant damp odour in the downstairs bathroom * drainage issues, resulting in the shower tray not draining quickly enough * Handles on sauce pans need fixing (no screwdriver available to do this) * more games would have been welcome, 3 board games available, however “operation” did not work as had no batteries, “frustration” game broken, “pictionary” parts missing. * slats on the bottom bunk kept slipping out. * parking was tricky, our party had 2 cars and there are limited parking spaces (2x per property) a van parked in one of our spaces throughout the duration of the stay. * could not locate a mop bucket, or a floor mat for the shower overflow. Despite the above recommendations of areas to be addressed, we had a lovely comfortable stay and would recommend this property and return to this property for future breaks in this area. Thankyou

  • "Lovely cottage in great location - 5 mins from Llangollen high street/town centre."

Has everything you need in well equipped kitchen with tea/coffee/biscuits and hand wash/dishwasher tab/and basic condiments. Recycling bins outside too. TV has good variety of channels. Bedrooms and furnishings decorated to high standard and extremely comfortable. Bathrooms and showers and en-suite fab. Only gripe would be none of the fans/extractors seemed to work in bathrooms - which would be easy to fix. Beware of the well marked drop/step in hallway. Want to stress what a lovely, hospitable place it was and we had a very comfortable short stay there. They have obviously spent a lot of money on high quality decor/furnishings. Highly recommend. Was only 10 minute walk to music event by the river. Be sure to visit the Corn Mill pub/restaurant which has a great menu and you can watch the canoeists take on the rapids! Slept very well - hard to get our 18 and 20 year olds up as bedrooms so comfy. Very close to Aldi and home bargains for quick shop. Parking to side of the cottage is good. Key instructions easy to follow for check in/check out. Thanks for a great relaxing stay!

  • "Really lovely cottage with excellent facilities."

Had a lovely long weekend and the location was great as our 4 teenagers were able to go over to the park and down to the river to entertain themselves, with a short pleasant walk into the town. The Wi-Fi was not working when we arrived, red light on the router box and asking for admin approval when we tried to connect. With no phone signal in the cottage it did mean that to look for places to go we had to go and sit in the car or to the park for data. This of course was a huge inconvenience to the teenagers who had to accept that their “snap scores” were ruined or get fresh air at the park to access their data, and a minor one for us parents, who spent our evenings conversing, playing cards and generally “torturing” the kids with games and family time. We had a lovely time, and whilst some guests might feel the Wi-Fi needs fixing, actually I’m not sure it does.

Hi, glad you had a nice stay at the cottages and apologies for the Wifi not working. It is working fine now, however if you stay again and want the quiet time you can always hide the code from the teenagers :) Thanks Property Owner

  • "Lovely large cottage, well equipped, comfy beds with lovely quilts and bedding."

Good location. Only issue was it is on a main road which we were aware of but having children with us we found the door locking system unsafe as it was just a catch to turn at an accessible height for little hands. Could be easily rectified with a high up bolt or a key lock. Stairs could do with a lick of paint but overall we loved it.

  • "On entering the property I was initially concerned as the carpet was dirty, as was the paintwork, but the rest of the property is fine."

The entrance really does let the property down. The cottage was well equipped for pleasant stay and was a good size for 5 of us. The property is literally on a very busy main road so great care was needed when entering or leaving due to having dogs with us,I dont think I would stay here with small children. The stairs are quiet steep and would not suit anybody with mobility problems . The property is centrally located, ashort walk into town, supermarket and parks, reaĺly no need to move the car if only staying local. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would stay again if holidaying in this area .

Hi, apologies regarding the carpets we do have them professionally cleaned twice a year along with touching up the paint etc., it is quite tricky to do in July and August as we are usually booked back to back but they are hoovered thoroughly throughout each changeover. It is often a thing in Welsh villages where the houses are build close the road so yes we do advice that guests are careful. Really glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Only one negative. The temperature of shower in shower room was not adjustable. This is probably easily fixed. Just thought you should know.

Hi, glad you enjoyed your stay, following your stay we have changed the shower mixer as although it could be changed but was a bit tricky so the new one is much easier. Thanks Property Owner

  • "The property Minafon at Llangollen met our needs perfectly."

Llangollen town centre is only a few minutes stroll and has an array of shops, pubs, cafes, and restaurants. The surrounding area is beautiful and is great for outdoor activities. Minafon is situated on a busy main road, which wasn’t an issue for us but may be for families with children. Generally the house was clean however the stair carpet and maybe lounge furniture could do with a clean. A lick of paint here and there especially on the stair walls is needed. The facilities in the house were great even though we didn’t use them all. There is parking at the side of the property and access to Minafon on our arrival was easy. Overall Minafon is great value and I would definitely use it again.

It is right on a busy road so good to be aware of this and the parking is next door but involves reversing in on a busy corner. However, this did not affect the enjoyment of our holiday

  • "Lovely property with bonus parking and close to town and supermarket."

Unfortunately we had problem with handover as it was obvious there had been a problem with the previous tenants. The cleaners had left washing in the machine, dish washer running and a mop and bucket of dirty water in the kitchen. The oven was also very dirty. We were unable to get into the downstairs bathroom as the lock was stuck, luckily our friends had a small tool box in the car and we were able to take door handles off the door and gain access but it did mean we couldn’t shut the door. We did speak to the owners who were very helpful and apologetic. The main knob on the fire in the lounge had also been broken off so this was unusable too. Apart from this we loved the cottage.

  • "The general facilities and location of the property were ideal."

However, we were extremely dissatisfied with the overall cleanliness of the property. The photographs were misleading, and upon our arrival, we found underwear under beds/behind bedside table, carpet stains, chewing gum on the toilet roll holder and hair balls.

We thank you for your feedback, although sadly neither ourselves or Sykes were contacted at any time during your stay, so we were unaware of any issues or concerns you had. Had we known we would have attended the property with our cleaning contractor to address matters. Following each turnover our cleaners go through each room in detail and provide us with a timestamped video of the clean they have just carried out. Having reviewed the footage prior to your visit it would seem that is was cleaned to a high standard in line, with our previous reviews. We are naturally disappointed to learn that you didn’t enjoy your stay, and we have asked Sykes to contact you to discuss the matter further. Property Owner

  • "An ideal location for visiting Llangollen and for the Eisteddfod."

Although on a main road I chose the property for proximity to the Eisteddfod. The cottage is clean and tidy and despite some previous reviews suggesting the beds were uncomfortable we all found them very comfortable. The hallway/stairwell walls and carpets could benefit from stain removal as this is a high traffic area and some guests clearly don’t remove their shoes upon entry.

Everything you need is within walking distance including cafés, restaurants and supermarket with small businesses to explore too. The accommodation is of a high standard and generous size but there is no garden. No problems for us though as we visited off season. Traffic noise is noticeable however and I would have been much more concerned about this had we visited in the summer with windows open. There were a few scruffy bits here and there. Toilet roll holders falling off the wall, a cracked bath and loose radiator casing. Cleanliness was mostly consistent except for a load of dirty water left in the bath. Oh, and do go prepared to visit Aldi when you arrive because toilet paper and dishwasher tablet will not see you through the first night. Overall a lovely base to explore north Wales from.

It's a 2 minute walk to the river and a 5 minute stroll to the bridge in the middle of town. There is dedicated parking next to the cottage. The main road is quite busy with slow moving traffic but we couldn't hear it from inside the cottage. There are 3 bathrooms and lots of beds. My personal preference would be for a firmer mattress but I slept fine. The downstairs rooms are fairly small, it's an old building, but we all had enough space. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher and washing machine. We had contact with owners a couple of times and they are nice people. However the proximity of the cottage to the town centre via a Riverside walk was a real advantage for our family. We felt that the provision of 4 dishwasher tablets for our use was insufficient for a weeks stay in a cottage that accommodates up to 6 people. 7 tablets would be a more appropriate number. We enjoyed our stay very much and would be very happy to stay in the cottage again. Thank you

Great location with 3 bathrooms, spacious living areas and good sized bedrooms. Llangollen was beautiful and there are plenty of things to do to pass the time. - Check in time was changed only 2 days before arrival to an hour later which altered our plans last minute. There were at least 5 spiders in every room upon arrival which was more frustrating when the cleaning checklist in the kitchen had a tick next to the cleaning of high up areas. Communal outside bin was full upon arrival on Saturday and replaced on Thursday. Was full again when we deparred- it may be worth investing in a second communal bin. I would recommend and definitley stay again.

  • "First the good points; nicely situated near park, nicely decorated, has parking (though could do with some tarmac putting down), and freesat available was handy."

Now the bad points; not clean! Upstairs had obviously not been hoovered (and no hoover provided), though bedding was clean. Downstairs was the worst. We had to sweep the floor 5 minutes after arrival, leaving it in one corner of the room as no dustpan provided, crisps from previous occupants still on floor and just under settee, dirty hand towel in bathroom, long hair in freezer drawer, dirty cuttlery, thick dust on skirting boards - it was quite gross. However, bathrooms were nice and clean, which was surprising due to the state of the rest of it. Seemed like the cleaner had given up after changing the beds and cleaning the bathrooms! Would have been perfect if only it had been completely clean.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are sorry for the issues you experienced, please be assured this is not the normal expectation we have for our guests as previous feedback shows. Be assured all issues will be addressed and resolved and hope we will welcome you again. Many thanks Property Owner
