  • "A damp smell when you 1st arrive and cold in the property until you turn the heating up."

Then it takes a bit to warm the place up. Crockery etc needed washing before use as greasy and unclean. Double bed needs a new mattress as it dips where people lie. The settee is low with no support on the cushion nearest the window, plus that’s past its use by date with lots of marks on it. The steps down to the laundry room need to be high lighted as I’ve tripped up and down them as you find it hard to defrienciate the edge. Dust behind radiators and on floor. Looks like the cleaner only does a quick sweep of the property it also needs a refresh of paint and there are marks on doors and chipped paint. The shower was very poor with now pressure, needs a handle lower down for those who wish to use the shower chair which is stored in the laundry room. A shower curtain would be appreciated also and shelving for toiletries and clothing when getting undressed etc. Location is great for exploring and plenty of bird life to watch from living room.

We're sorry to see Mill House Cottage didn't reach your expectations and disappointed that we weren't contacted during your stay to try to put right the things that you feel weren't right. For the benefit of future guests, we'd like to address the items you've mentioned: - we have a smart Hive heating system installed and unfortunately we'd had a power cut ahead of your visit; once the power was back on the heating schedule hadn't reconnected (only manually pressing the heating button on the thermostat would activate the heating). We only found this out at the beginning of April, please accept our apologies. - it is guests' responsibility to clean their dishes and crockery; this is not something a changeover company provides so we can only apologise on behalf of the previous guests who appeared not to have cleaned up after themselves properly. We do request in the guest manual that guests cleanup after themselves ahead of the next guests. - the double mattress was replaced at great expense 12 months ago, with a medium firmness. - we've not had any comments about the step in the laundry room in the last few years, but we'll look to paint a line just before the step to warn future guests. - the shower is a 9kW electric Mira Sport shower, the most powerful we could find. We're sorry this didn't meet your expectations. - previous guests mentioned they didn't like having the shower seat stored in the shower area which is why it's stored in the utility room. We're sorry the current grab handle that was installed to assist with lesser mobile people wasn't at the correct height for you. - the property was fully renovated 3 years ago. We shall update decor and furnishings as required. - we're very sorry the property sounds like it was dirty in areas. We pay a lot of money for the cleaning service and take this feedback very seriously, we will pick this up with our changeover company. We're glad the immediate and local surroundings gave you the same satisfaction that they have given so many other guests, we do hope you'll visit again in the future. Property Owner

Comfortable and spacious, ideal if you have someone with disabilities in your party. We had a lovely, relaxing holiday. Thanks.

  • "This is a wonderful location for exploring the Llyn peninsula."

Beautiful beaches within 10 minutes drive and lots of National Trust places to visit, along with little villages, harbours and places to connect with nature. The cottage is very well equipped, it had everything we needed and completely spotless. It does get humid and quite damp, but I think that might be the location, as there's lots of water and greenery around. This wasn't a problem though, as we were able to put a boost on the heating and it helped. We stayed with my son and baby and there was plenty of room, it was so comfortable. We will definitely be going back!

  • "A lovely place to stay & relax."

My mum & I really enjoyed our stay at Mill House cottage, we found the beds very comfortable & we both slept well, the cottage is very well equipped especially the kitchen, the basket of shower gels, soaps & sweet goodies is a lovely idea. It is perfectly positioned on the Llyn Peninsula & easy to get to all of the outstanding beaches nearby. Thank you Martin for sorting out the TV & sharing your vast amount of knowledge of the area. My only regret is not making it to the Ty Coch Inn on the beach, maybe next time.

  • "Wow, when we opened the door to Millbrook Cottage the shine was amazing, everything sparkled, fantastic."

We were looking for a cottage to suit a disabled person, wet room etc., and this was it, so easy to manoeuvre around the open plan area without getting assistance giving freedom to the wheelchair user, highly recommended. l would also say that it would be suitable for a family with young children the open plan great to leave them playing safely. Equipment is outstanding no need to take anything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay apart from getting lost occasionally in the twisty lanes, part of the fun.

It was our pleasure to host you at Mill House Cottage and it was lovely to meet you all, you were perfect guests! Just after you left we raised the bed so next time you visit you should find getting in and out of bed even easier. We look forward to seeing you again soon! Property Owner

  • "Well presented property."

The wet room could do with a chair for disabled people, we used the patio chair from outside to help. There is a bar which is useful to hold onto. We found the floor very slippy so we bought 2 anti slip mats to help. We found the double bed to be very low. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. Unfortunately we didn't find the settee very comfortable. Nice place to stay in that location, lovely and clean and extra touches ie: soaps, shower gels and flowers.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay at Mill House Cottage. We've now raised the king size double bed which will make getting in and out easier, and we've also purchased a shower chair for the wet room. We hope to see you again soon! Property Owner

It is in a quite spot but is central for all locations on the Lyne peninsular. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this cottage you are looking for a peaceful place to stay. Would recommend the Tafarn Pen Y Bont pub for good food and drink. Marion the owner is very friendly and will go above and beyond to be helpful.

Nice stay everything you need is there however there is a strong smell of damp mostly in the kitchen and in the cupboards

Thank you for your feedback and we're glad you had a nice stay. Since your visit we've installed a continuous running humidity-controlled extractor fan which has greatly reduced any damp in the cottage. We hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Mill House Cottage is situated in a nice quiet location."

It was clean and spacious and comfortable. If we have to have a niggle, or two, they are; no electric shaver point, the double bed is a bit low for the more mature guest (this was mentioned in the visitors book by a few guests), the hot tap in the kitchen sink is dreadfully slow and we should have had our grandson to sort out the digital telly (we did sort it eventually). All of this was just us and didn't detract from our enjoyment of our stay at Mill House.

We're glad you had an enjoyable stay at Mill House Cottage. We've now raised the bed height so getting in and out should be much easier now. We also managed to change the Smart TV home menu settings to a basic display which should make life easier for everyone! We hope to see you again in the future! Property Owner

It was very clean and tidy. I'm going to miss the bed as it was extremely comfy. My only regret is not having a pen so we could sign the guest book. We would definitely choose to stay again if we holiday in the area in future again.

Thank you for your visit! We're delighted that the cottage gave you everything you were looking for. Apologies the pens weren't there; we'd left a few behind but they do have a tendency to go missing :-) We look forward to welcoming you back to Mill House Cottage. Property Owner

  • "The location and bungalow was excellent and the owners were lovely."

The only thing I would change for me personally is the beds and the sofas and having said that there is nothing wrong with them, they are really good quality, just not ideal for tired old bones like mine! There is everything that you would need for your stay and definitely recommend to others.

We are very sorry to hear the beds were not to your comfort, and wish we had been made aware of this during your stay so we could try to do something to make you feel more comfortable. We replaced the beds and mattresses 3 months ago with luxurious hotel quality mattresses and mattress toppers, we've had guests highlight how comfortable they've found the beds so we're sorry we weren't given the chance to rectify your discomfort. We are glad you had an enjoyable holiday and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

We couldn't have been happier with our stay, even on the rainy days! Looking forward to our next stay already!

The property

The lovely, detached bungalow of Mill House Cottage rests in its own tranquil setting, nestled centrally but privately in the quiet village of Sarn Meyllteyrn in Gwynedd, within the breath-taking Llŷn Peninsula.

Resting in a wildlife haven amongst quaint, rural surroundings with a pretty, white-washed, and stone exterior, Mill House Cottage is ideal for a group of five who want to escape from the busyness of life.

Sought-after off-road parking spaces for two cars can be found next to the property, along with a sunny, gravelled garden with outdoor seating - a great location to dine alfresco or undertake a spot of birdwatching!

Continue up the ramp or steps into the property and you will immediately find yourself in a very spacious open-plan living space complete with contemporary interiors.

Unwind with your family on the seating in front of the Smart TV, before venturing into the newly fitted well-equipped sleek kitchen to prepare dinner, featuring marble effect worktops and grey fittings that are home to an abundance of appliances.

When dinner is ready, gather your loved ones and enjoy a meal at the dining table while you plan your seaside outings.

There is also a large utility/boot room accessible from inside or outside, which houses a washing machine, and is also a great space to store bicycles, wetsuits and beach gear.

Continue through to the bedrooms, selecting between a king-size, complete with a large bay window overlooking a field with sweet horses, and a very spacious triple room with views out to Sarn.

Externally, Mill House Cottage provides entertainment for guests in the shared games room, offering a range of entertainment with a pool table, table tennis, dart board, a PlayStation 3/Blu-ray player.

Featuring a strong WiFi connection, a 100” projector and an upgraded speaker system, this room can double up as the perfect gaming centre (use the PS3 or bring your own console) or movie theatre; a perfect way to spend a family evening in.

The extra large wet room is a superb spot to prepare yourself for the day, before venturing a moment away into the village to view the unique wares in the local pottery shop, or visit one of the two local convenience stores where you can grab essentials for a picnic before heading to one of the dozen or so nearby beaches for a day packed with sun and sand.

Freshen up before stopping for dinner in one of two village pubs, with Tŷ Newydd Sarn being the local favourite.

A short drive takes you to a large array of high end cuisine up and down the peninsula.

Sarn is perfectly located, allowing access to a range of exceptional beaches within a few miles, including the iconic Traeth Porthdinllaen with its world famous Tŷ Coch Inn beach bar and Whistling Sands, which is a jewel in the crown of the National Trust’s portfolio.

Sarn sits between in the middle of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), positioned between the rugged north coast and sheltered south coast, its rolling green hills paint a picture-perfect postcard of wide open spaces and spectacular vistas.

The property is also very well located for golfing trips, situated a short drive from a number of excellent golf courses that can be found at Porthdinllaen, Abersoch and Pwllheli.

For more coastal activities, visit one of the many rugged, remote north coast beaches which are characterised by being flanked and backed with grass covered cliffs, or visit beaches along the south coast recognised for their amenities and sheltered nature.

The local town of Pwllheli is a short drive away, where you can stock up on groceries, stroll around the Hafan Pwllheli Marina where you can watch sailing events via Plas Heli, or simply bask in the sun on its beaches, before boarding the town's train to explore the wider region.

Visit Criccieth with its historical landmarks, including a fantastic Castle, or visit Porthmadog with its Museum and Steam Engine experience.
