"Oh dear, Snowden View is in need of a little TLC."
The outside is terribly unkempt. The website describes the key box as being behind the wall in the front garden. There is no front garden! There are, however, plenty of weeds. The outside walls are desperate for a lick of paint. The garden, which is across the road, is over grown so little chance of access to the mentioned summer house. The bins, also across the road, were overflowing. It's not all doom and gloom though... the views from the front door are spectacular; green hills to the right and the sea and ferry port to the left. There are some fabulous walks too, right from the from the door. We climbed Holy Mountain and walked to South Stack. Well worth it. The Breakwater Country Park is worth a visit too. It was nice not having to rely on the car to get to places. The house itself is reasonably comfortable and the kitchen/diner is more than adequate, with everything you could possibly need to cook family meals. It was nice to have a decent sized TV for a change, to relax in the evening after a hard days walk. The beds were reasonably comfortable but the pillows were dire - cheap and nasty. However, I always like to finish on a positive so I will say that we were not sorry we stayed at Snowden View because it was a great base for the things we wanted to do, mainly walking. I absolutely loved the location. Oh and it might be worth mentioning that the property is up for sale. Maybe relevant, maybe not...

"We had a fantastic 2 weeks."
The cottage is cosy and homely. Dog friendly too. Just enough out of the way to be lovely and quiet but only a short trip to the superstores in Holyhead. The views are beautiful and Breakwater Country Park is a short walk away and you can walk up the mountain or along the coast.
Loved it.

All things explained in the booklet ie how to put on the central heating etc. So we have booked again in September! We loved the views from the house. ie Snowdon and Holyhead town. Lovely walks around the area with the dogs.

"Lovely quaint cottage, beautifully situated."
So peaceful. Garden could do with maintenance so you can get to the washing line. Utility room was no good for drying on wet days and made all the washing smell damp so had to re-wash when got home. Check out time too early, so we left on Friday evening.

"It's not the door you think it is and when you've gone into the cottage, there's something almost gone to seed about it at first and then it grows on you and you realise just what a gem it is."
Okay, the mattresses are not brilliant and neither is the sofa, but it's a holiday cottage and that happens. It's a lovely, lovely base in a fabulous location. We've never been a third up a mountain before and at first the long and winding path is a bit worrying (Days 1-2) after that, up and down you go and then you decide to walk it and it's easy and you can see the cottage from a distance, then you discover Breakwater Park is just behind and Penrhos is not far below on the left and South Stack off to the right and what more do you want? The cottage is well appointed and we loved it . Ahh parking, is directly in front of the cottage and to save turning, go up and round the "block" and back down, that way you can drive straight in and easily back out. Highly recommended.

"The cottage itself was accurately described."
It was very comfortable and roomy, clean and well equipped and had lovely views of Snowdonia. However we couldn't say the same for the "garden" and "summerhouse". The garden was tiny and overgrown and the so-called summerhouse was basically an outbuilding with a couple of garden chairs in it. A family with young children may choose such a cottage because it is listed as having a garden but it was so small and overgrown that children couldn't play in it.

"The cottage itself was comfortable and in an ideal location."
The views were gorgeous. The cottage was well equipped and we had a lovely holiday. The only problem we had was on arrival we found the cottage to be unclean - there was rubbish on the floor in the single bed room, in the twin bed room there was someone elses' socks on the floor and under one of the beds and a Nintendo Game case left in a drawer. The bathroom wasn't very clean so we spent the first few hours cleaning the cottage so not a good start to our holiday. What was most disappointing is that we weren't allowed in the property until 5pm instead of 3pm as the cottage was supposed to be cleaned thoroughly due to Covid, but unfortunately this wasn't the case. There was no telephone number in the welcome pack for us to call to complain about the uncleanliness , but we did leave a note in the visitor book and in a separate book, but haven't heard anything back from the owner or whomever looks after the property, which is a shame. We did like the Cottage it was just the cleanliness, well lack of it, that let our stay down.
can only apologise that you found that the cleanliness of the cottage was not up to the standard that we would expect. I believe that contact numbers should have been provided by Sykes, as well as being available in the welcome pack. We will work together with the management company to ensure that your comments are addressed. I hope that this doesn't put you off visiting again in the future.

"What a lovely cottage and a beautiful, peaceful location."
We saw seals in the small coves we could walk to and enjoyed walking all over the mountain. It was big enough to provide lots of walks but not big enough to get lost on, so you could wander all over it and easily find your way home.
The cottage was spacious and homely and it was a pleasure to stay there. I would defiantly recommend it to other folks who like to walk and enjoy the peace and quiet this location offers. Great for dogs too and we enjoyed everything the area offered.

"We would like to bring to your attention the following."
The bathroom in the en suite bedroom was very small and had no where to put one's toiletries which was annoying. The toilet was an electric macerator type which appeared to be blocked as it began working when it was not being used and when water was running in the very small wash basin. When you flushed the toilet faeces would backfill through the shower trap and leave small amounts of faeces in the shower tray. Hence we showered down stairs. The shower did not work and had to be replaced by a local plumber.
The king size bed was very uncomfortable and in our opinion needs replacing. The cleaners need to look under the bed as its rather dirty this was discovered when we dropped some money on the floor.
I am sorry that our cottage did not meet your expectations. I have found that the shelf next to the shower, and those next to the toilet in the en suite, more than adequately provide for our toiletries. Unfortunately, I am unable to do anything about the size of the room itself and a larger sink would make it even more confined. The macerator manages the waste from the sink and shower as well as the toilet and therefore does make a noise when they are in use. The macerator is a delicate piece of equipment and blocks up easily and quickly if more than just toilet paper is put down the toilet. I apologise that it wasn’t working properly, the management company will be seeing to it. It is most unfortunate that the shower also stopped working during your stay. I believe the management company came and replaced it when they learnt of the problem. Thank you for informing us about the mattress, as we are rarely able to sleep on it ourselves, information such as this is valuable to us. I hope these problems didn’t detract too greatly from the rest of your stay.

"An excellent location."
From the front door, stunning coastal walks are only a stone's throw away. The cottage is spacious and well equipped. The main Holyhead road makes it all very accessible.
There were some issues. Only two rolls of toilet paper. For a family of four for a week, this was not acceptible. There was only hand wash in one bathroom. The cottage had one 'general waste' wheelie bin. This was full when we arrived. I contacted the Services company who claimed they would get it emptied. It was still full when we left. Other houses had recycling bins. Not 'Snowdon View'. "Put it all in one general bin, they'll sort it out at the other end". Really? We left our recycling in plastic bags next to the full kitchen pedal bin. This needs clarification in the vague information pack. It's good to know the history of the town breakwater, now where are the spare toilet rolls kept?

"Excellent cottage on the shoulder of Holyhead Mountain, cosy, warm and with a fantastic kitchen."
Delightful main bedroom but watch out for those beams unless you’re short like me! Great selection of dvds if you fancy a night in or the weathers a bit off, although ive been twice and the weather has been great even out of season - can be windy though. Easily accessible from Holyhead train station and with plenty of shopping facilities close by yet with a wonderful, remote country feel. Lots of walks on grassy, stone walled lanes and paths from the doorstep, including South Stack, Holyhead Mountain and the dramatic scenery of the Welsh coastal path. good public transport also means you can get around Anglesey even if you don’t have a car.
