  • "The lodge was so nice, and views were just breathtaking!"

We loved everything about our little break. We got the hang of the fire pit easily! Just make sure you follow the instructions in the book and you won’t go wrong. We went to a Texaco petrol station nearby and they had bags of logs and kindling for £4.50 which was useful to know! The property was gated so our dog could have the run of outside and didn’t get out. Notes for consideration if you’re staying: - I would say make sure you bring an additional tea towel and bin bags if you’re staying for more than 2 nights. We stayed for 4 nights and got 1 tea towel and 1 bin bag. Maybe if you messaged staff you might get more but we didn’t bother and bought our own to make do! - The couch isn’t comfortable so again, if you’re intending on spending time in the lodge I’d suggest taking your own pillows or beanbags to make it a bit comfortable. - We stayed 4 nights and did have enough bath towels, however we used them off the spare bed too. So just make sure if you’re going as a family and for more than 2 nights, maybe consider taking additional towel each - The drive up to the lodge was quite narrow and not really for the weak if you aren’t a confident driver! I’d just say bear that in mind before booking - we were fine but I know some might not be. They aren’t negative points as such, just things we would consider next time. However would go back in a heart beat. Really nice lodge and gave us the break we were looking for!

  • "Absolutely beautiful location, view stunning from lodge, couldn't ask for more."

The site was lovely with lots of walk ways with the dogs. The lodge was good at first glance, with all mod cons and very well equipped, which was great. Quite cramped in the bedrooms, with not really enough storage space for luggage. We were able to use the other bedroom to put our cases as there was nowhere to have them in the main bedroom. Be aware, the bunk bed in the other bedroom is really high! So for older kids it would be ok, very cramped again but all beds comfortable with good pillows and covers. Lots of towels which was really good for each bed. Lounge/ eating area, had an enormous television with lots of channels which leads you to believe that you might want to get comfy of an evening to watch a good film; but to no avail I'm afraid. The seating area which reminded me of the seating in a Doctors surgery waiting area, was the most uncomfortablest we have ever sat on! We were only able to seat on it for a short while before our backsides had gone completely numb! So consequently, we were unable to enjoy watching the TV at any length. Perhaps some reorganisation and new furniture would be a boon for this area? We found the shower really roomy and a real strong powerful shower, so was very good. It did fill up your the brim with suds every time we had a shower, and we were worried it might overflow, luckily not though! Needed a good plug clear out which obviously had not been done for a while. Kitchen was really well equipped which was great! Had a bit of trouble working out the electric hob, but managed in the end. On a serious note, be very aware of the step down into the kitchen. I had a situation where I tripped up while exiting the kitchen and flew across the lounge area! I really winded my self and was a bit bruised. Other then that, everything was fine, outside area lovely, nice area for the doggie, lovely hot tub and BBQ. Upstairs seating area with a great view but we couldn't use it as our dogs could not use the stairs safely (quite steep).

Just me and my two dogs. Absolutely beautiful modern cottage with a terrace. The Hidden Meadow was so quiet with a lovely long walk around Woodland Walk, next to the cottage. Owners made me feel very welcome. I highly recommend staying here. I certainly will be coming back here as still load places to see nearby. I also recommend visiting the local pub, the goat in. The lovely bar lady, fed my dogs after hiking around Snowdonia ❤️ See you again soon Hidden Meadow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • "We had a lovely stay and would definitely consider coming back."

I've scored down for the following: The wood you get with the £20 is not sufficient for three nights. We could see that more could be purchased but realistically there should of been enough provided in our opinion. It would be good to have lights on the steps that go to the roof terrace. The shower wasn't very clean, there was mildew at the bottom of the tiles where it meets the shower tray. It is not as private as the listing makes out, there was no privacy while in the hot tub as the hedge is non-existent, likely due to the wind and time of year. The seating area in the Lodge is not comfortable. Despite the above, we would likely return and really did love our stay here.

It was our first time with a log fired hot tub, which took some getting used to but was a great addition to the property. Unfortunately the heating didn't work throughout the stay. Not too much of an issue for myself and my wife, but it would have been an issue if we had our daughter as the small bedroom never got above 15 degrees. Apart from that the stay was lovely and we would come back again.

We are so sorry about the heating issue, but glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your feedback Property Owner

Attractive property. Furnishing whilst practical, the seating is not very comfortable or relaxing.I understand as the property allows four legged friends. The shower cubicle needs attention, very grubby between the two glass panels. I have images for your reference. I found the Vacum cleaner, but no means of washing the hard floors. The views from the property are spectacular even in the rain. Please note on your instructions to find property , the turning is next to a CHAPEL , not a Church. Makes a difference when asking directions from a Welsh man.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear the property did not fully meet your expectations. We have high cleaning standards and have flagged the shower cubicle issue with our cleaning staff. Property Owner

Very clean throughout and the kitchen was well-equipped. There were lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy in good weather, including the rooftop terrace and the hot tub. A couple of minor niggles were that the living room seats were a bit too firm for lounging around on, and there was a lack of places to hang towels to dry (we didn't have an airer, but didn't get round to asking for one either), but we had a lovely stay here.

The location is absolute bliss - surrounded by rolling fields, wildlife and stunning views. The roof terrace is perfect for breakfast and sheep spotting! Very well equipped stay, the only thing we were missing when we arrived was a dishcloth/sponge so we could wash and clean up, but other than that everything else was provided. The hot tub was amazing to recover in after our Yr Wyddfa climb. We didn't go out locally but saw some lovely walks/highlights close to the chalet too to explore next time. Already thinking about when we can go back, I can't recommend this stay highly enough! If you want to switch off and truly unwind, this place is heaven.

The location is perfect, the lodge is stunning and we had such a lovely weekend away. The views alone are worth the visit :)). The price we paid was extremely reasonable given the quality of the lodge. Taking everything into consideration, we loved Hilltop and we will definitely return. If I had to find just one bit of feedback for improvement and I know it has been raised on previous reviews, but the seating area in the living room is far from ideal. After a lovely romantic day taking a walk and going into the hot tub, it would have topped it off to be able to snuggle down with my partner on “a sofa” in front of the tv with our feet up. That’s currently impossible given the current seating in the lodge living area. But it didn’t spoil the holiday and so I pass my thanks onto the owner & Sykes :))) Nicola

  • "Property is absolutely wonderful and loved the hot tub and the roof terrace though the facilities were not up to standard and did spoil our time there."

The shower would not give hot water and on the first day we noticed if you flushed the toilet the shower would temporarily work then go freezing cold again. We were given no welcome pack physically or electronically so we had no idea how anything worked. I had to contact Sykes cottages who were absolutely lovely and wanted to get the matter sorted though when it was passed onto the owner she was nothing but rude. She stated, “You coped all week like this, I’m sure you coped one more day”. She said a caretakers number was left in the welcome back to which I replied there was not one and then she said well we did email one- which they didn’t. Phone call with the owner left me crying, but I can’t thank Sykes cottages enough for being so understanding and giving us compensation that the owner refused to give. Despite the property being gorgeous, I would not recommend to go here based on the rudeness of this owner.

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed to read of your experience. As we understand the caretaker did meet with you on arrival as usual, and invited you to let him know of any issues, he didn't hear from you during your stay. Had you let him know there was an issue with the shower he would have rectified the issue promptly. Sorry you were unable to find the welcome folder which is always available for guests at the property. Property Owner

However, it wasn’t very well equipped in the kitchen. There isn’t much storage at all in the bed rooms so I would recommend backing light. The bed sheets were stained but this was sorted fairly quickly (the next morning). The hot tub is lovely once you know how to get it started, the instructions don’t mention that it takes hours to heat up on the first time but after it’s lovely, just be ready to be running out every 10 minutes putting another load of logs on. It does stay warm so it doesn’t take as long to get to temperature after the first heating of the water. The seating area isn’t comfortable. Personally I wouldn’t say this is a 5 tick accommodation.

We thank you for your feedback and are sorry to hear that you didn’t completely enjoy your stay. We are glad you enjoyed the hot tub once it was at the correct temperature. They take up to 2 hours to fully heat up when done correctly; and this is a service which we offer guests prior to arrival. Property Owner
