  • "Outstanding cottage."

Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and lovely location. Only negative is very narrow drive with lethal access to main road, although an additional parking area is available away from the property

  • "The cottage was clean and beaiutifully presented."

There was an impressive array of electrical cooking equipment including microwave, air fryer and coffee maker. Beds and chairs were extremely comfortable. We have no comment about games, books ot TV as we wanted a completely quiet holiday and did not use any of these at all. Cushions, pillows and and throws were of excellent quality, but there were far too many for us, and we put most of them away in the wardrobe. The heating worked well and we didn't need to use the log fire. The location was an ideal base for exploring the whole of the peninsula and, blessed with good weather (apart from one wet day) we were out, for most of every day. However, for us, in late 70's and early 80's, used to bungalow living in an extremely quiet area there were difficulties and we feel very strongly that the advertising details should point out the hazards for the elderly, the infirm and for young children. Firstly, although there were alternatives for parking, these were not easy to negotiate from the very busy road. The drive is steep and if parking in the dedicated place on the opposite side of the busy road it was quite difficult getting up to the house, especially when carrying essentials. Secondly and of most concern, the stairs are very steep and the access to them is difficult, especially as one of the bedtooms opens directly onto the top of the stairs. One of our group, with a balance problem, needed help when coming down and was unable to go upstairs while carrying anythingnas she needed to use both handrails. Thirdly, and we realise that this would not concern many people, we found the constant flow of traffc so disturbing that we had to keep the door closed, even when the weather was hot. if we had listened to music or had the TV on, we may not have noticed, but we came for a quiet holiday in order to read and write. There were tea and coffee bags and a packet of biscuits, but we were disappointed to have to go out and buy toilet rolls (only one partly used was supplied). a kitchen roll (none at all), a dishcloth (none at all), dishwasher tablets (only 4 supplied) and washing-up liquid (only an almost empty bottle supplied.) There were plenty of good quality towels but we could only find one tea towel. Items which would be useful in addition to the above mentioned items, are surface wipes and a large serving spoon. For younger adults we're sure it would be ideal, but we're afraid that, for us, it wasn't perfect.

Cottage was spotless, and all facilities were top spec. We were pleasantly surprised at what was on offer in the cottage. there wasn't anything more we could have asked for. We wouldn't recommend it to people with small children, in view of bedroom/staircase position, but to other families, yes. Good base situation for surrounding towns and beaches etc. Lovely.

Tanrallt cottage was warm and welcoming. Clean and well equipped. Wonderfully comfy bed. Large, airy main bedroom. The fast road felt a bit of a challenge until we got used to it. The garden area is delightful. Much appreciated generous welcome pack. Helpful hosts when we had a small query.

  • "The parking and vehicle access arrangements were not openly revealed."

There is parking at the rear but this is accessed via a very narrow and sloping trackway bordered by low walls. Unless its a small vehicle, the risk of scraping your vehicle is high. It took very slow and careful manoeuvring to get our car along the track each time. There is other parking on the opposite side of the road. The third option as set out in the literature in the cottage is to park on the lay-by on the roadside if there is room. The problem. The cottage is on a narrow but fast section of road with poor visibility splays. The literature in the cottage even advises when pulling out onto the road from where you've parked to get someone to stand on the opposite side of the road to wave you out and check for traffic! This isn't reasonable. I was staying as the only adult with two young children. I had no one who could stand on the opposite side of the road to watch me out. Parking in the space on the opposite side of the road may be okay for adults but shepherding children across the road several times as day to and from our car isn't a sensible or safe option. Not when doing this with luggage and bags from days out. The one time I parked on the lay-by, within half an hour I had one of the neighbours knocking on the door asking me to move my car as her son would have no where to park otherwise. The significant problems regarding parking, vehicle access and lack of visibility splays isn't made clear on your website when you advertise the cottage. I assume someone from Skykes visited the cottage and discussed with the owner about parking and access. But this key information wasnt revealed or made clear in your advertisement and listing of the cottage. In fact, its all made to sound completely different and easy and chilled out when the parking and vehicle access arrangements make for a whole different experience. Im a very confident driver so I dealt with it but I wouldn't stay at the cottage again and for a less confident driver the situation could be far more of an issue. It isn't fair not to make this clear. There are lots of potential customers out there who would be better suited to stay here - adults only with small vehicles. The Greek style 'garden' at the rear and the vertical and high drops from the terrace walls aren't fenced off. This is fine if staying as able bodied adults but it's again not suitable for kids and this is something that also isn't made sufficiently clear in your marketing literature. It's a shame as the cottage has been furnished to a high standard and is very clean and pleasant. The owner was also as helpful as he could be when I contacted him. But the cottage comes with issues and limitations which you didn't reveal or make clear. Had I have know about the parking and access issues and the extent of the vertical drops in the garden, I would have looked for a cottage better suited to a single adult family with two young children with a car that isn't tiny.

It is very well placed to explore the amazing coastal scenery on the Llyn peninsula and the walk books provided kept us busy all week - we were very lucky with the weather. The cottage is thoughtfully and beautifully refurbished and is comfortable, cosy and well-equipped. Access is a little difficult from the busy (at times) main road and the steep narrow drive - but once it was mastered it did not cause problems.

With top quality fixtures and fittings we wanted for nothing. Very comfortable bed, we were very rested after a lovely week. Got in plenty of local walks and the cottage had plenty of information to help plan. Thank you for the lovely basket of goodies on arrival. Plenty of room to turn the car around at the back of the property, the drive is quite steep but was not a problem after we became familiar. Best approached from Pwllheli direction rather than Nefyn due to the turn into the property.

Thank you for visiting Tanrallt Cottage, we are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and thank you for providing feedback. We identified an issue with low profile vehicles accessing the private driveway, as the cottage is built into a hillside and the drive is a little steep.
