  • "House is lovely but very cold."

Kitchen especially (no heating in the area at all). Lovely sitting room with plenty of chairs. Would have been ideal to have a small enclosed area for dogs. Please look at plug in bath as have to use a plunger to get it to open. Games supplied is a nice touch and thank you for coffee bags, milk and biscuits on arrive - these little things are appreciated thank you

Apologies for delay in replying. Sorry you were cold. I've checked and made a correction on the heating system. I hope overall you enjoyed your stay. All the best Jane C Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week in this character cottage."

The location was really peaceful- close to the A5 and quick access to all the famous peaks, but in a little visited valley off a quiet lane. We loved the building which oozes quirky, rural and cosy charm but with all the modern comforts you need. Some minor maintenance issues caused no upset for us but may do for those who want 'sterile perfection'. Hope we're able to be welcomed back in the future.

Thanks for your great comments about the cottage and its surrounding. Of course you'll be welcomed back for further visits! Thanks very much Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay at this cosy house."

The owner was responsive to initial enquiries and also throughout our stay. The property is in a fairly rural location but just a short drive from Betws-Y-Coed and surrounding areas. The access, which someone else mentioned in a previous review, was a bit bumpy and difficult for our campervan but we managed it and on the last day of our stay the owner was doing lane maintenance so future guests shouldn’t have a problem. The house itself is very cute, with a games room and a spacious living room. It is obviously an old property which comes with its share of quirks and issues, but nothing which detracted from our experience. We had a fire going every evening which kept the place cosy, and the blankets and quilts provided meant we were very warm in the night. The bathrooms were spotless, the showers hot and the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and all the utensils you might need. Some constructive criticisms: the second shower (over the bath) should have a shower curtain as you can easily flood the place when using it! The bottom right hob switches itself on continuously even when not in use (as soon as you flip the power switch for the oven and cooker) which is dangerous so should be looked into. The living room fire has quite a small fireguard around it and on one evening sparks flew over the top onto the carpet. We put them out straight away but we were concerned what would have happened if the dog had been lying there. I would suggest putting a higher one in place. Finally, the towels provided - although lovely and soft - were all the same colour and after about 2 days of hanging them on the towel rails to dry we were all mixing them up! I would recommend getting different colours or embroidered towels to help with this. Overall the four of us and our dog really enjoyed our stay. We would recommend staying here and would happily stay again if we were in the area. Thank you Jane for a lovely week!

Thanks for your kind comments Olivia. So glad you enjoyed yourselves. JC Property Owner

  • "We were only there for 2 nights and out during the days but very nice stay and lovely area."

A bit cool in the evenings (not keen on open fires so didn’t use them). Should have taken a hot water bottle to take the edge off. But nice to have plenty of wraps/blankets though.

Thank you for your nice comments! JC Property Owner

  • "What a beautiful old house!"

Easy to find, peaceful with plenty of room for the 2 of us. Loved the comfortable lounge and the spacious bedrooms. Perhaps the owners could think about installing some hooks with hangers in the longer bedroom as there wasn’t a wardrobe. Although plentiful with drawer space as many different seating options in both bedrooms. Handy to have 2 bathrooms. Plenty of car parking . The views were spectacular. Perfect base for the outdoor activities we booked (nearby Zip World and Go Below). Loved Betswy -Coed itself. Would highly recommend

Thank you very much for your lovely comments about the cottage and its surroundings. Your idea re hanging space is a good one and I'll get on with it! JC Property Owner

  • "Just what we’d hoped for."

Rustic charm combined with all the comforts. Clear instructions provided re key collection. All kitchen utensils provided, plus bin bags, towels, bed linen . Helpful info re catering for the dog in our group. The barn was clean and warm, with plenty of space for the 4 of us. Milk and luxury biscuits waiting on arrival - much appreciated. Beautiful location, so peaceful. It was just perfect sitting outside at the picnic table soaking up the idyllic surroundings with our cuppa. Wonderful to have a real fire after our wet walk up Snowdon and swim at the end. Couldn’t have asked for more. Would love to return

  • "We absolutely loved our stay here, the cottage is cosy but in no way small, with outstanding views across the valley and just a short distance away from Betws-y-Coed it served as a central hub for our adventures."

Comfy beds and a warming open fireplace, we'll be back later this year, hopefully.

  • "We had a lovely stay in the Long House."

It is in a beautiful location and well-situated for exploring Snowdonia. The cottage is clean, a good size and feels homely so we felt relaxed being there with our young son (climbing the ladder to the floor with the football table was a definite highlight). The rooms are large and the kitchen is particularly well-equipped with everything we needed. We visited in April with wet and windy weather but the cottage felt cosy in the evenings with the open fire lit. We had a couple of minor issues but the owner was very responsive and we would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your kind comments. So glad you liked the cottage and its surroundings. Do come again! Property Owner

  • "The Long House was very cold and damp during our stay, the electric storage heaters aren't up to the job of heating this cottage, we were unable to complete our stay here."

There was also no hot water and no mention in the house details of how to turn this on and required a call to the owner to find out. The website details make no mention of the challenging access to the property, which it should, as you will easily bottom out an average family car on the potholed and very basic track to the property. This property is only fit to be let in the height of summer when heating won't be an issue.

Thank you for your useful review. I’ll take your points in turn. My neighbours and I share the lane and have agreed plans and have a contractor to restore the lane where it meets the public road. A very wet winter and spring have delayed work but I can assure you it remains our priority when conditions permit. Over the winter the whole electrical system. has been checked and upgraded so I am unhappy to hear you were cold. The storage heaters are turned on at the wall and adjusted by the top dial. And when on the house gets toastie. The hot water cylinder is heated for 2 periods of 7 hours per 24 hours. (The showers are heated via their control panels). Unfortunately for reasons I dont understand the cylinder had been turned off at the switch. This will now be checked between each set of guests. I value your comments and thank you for them.
