  • "Great! Everything we could need and more."

The shower in the main bedroom ensuite would run very hot, so we used the one in the main bathroom. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and after our long journey was gratefully recieved, Thank you very much.

  • "A lovely place for our holiday."

We enjoyed 2 great weeks here. A very comfortable and cosy holiday apartment. With lots of space, bathrooms, a large kitchen and plenty of space to relax. The location is great, there are lots of interesting places nearby, the mountains and the coast right on your doorstep.

  • "The cottage is well equipped, was very clean, and in a quiet location and we enjoyed our stay."

The location is not too far from the mountains, and there are lovely walking routes from the lane at the top of the village where there are a few parking spaces. The en-suite shower was small, so some people would not wish to use it. It's a little dark on the lower floor, compared to some places we've stayed. The one negative point for us was that on our final, (seventh), evening, we lost all electricity. I contacted Sykes, and Paul from the customer relations team got back to me shortly later to tell me that the landlady had fed some more credit to the electric meter. However, despite following his instructions, we could not get the power back on. After waiting an hour or so in vain waiting on further instructions and with the sun setting, I decided to try a few experiments with the RCD switches and outside mains switch, and managed to get the electrics working again.

  • "Lovely, spacious, well equipped and quiet cottage."

Charming living room (upgraded from photos shown) enjoyed using it after active days out or when relaxing in the morning. Conveniently located - close to the beach, mountains and other spots of beauty/exploration. Welcome pack was much appreciated. Pretty courtyard (shared) and a spacious garage to park your car. Overall a peaceful location which made a very relaxing break. We were 3 adults so the bedroom with the bunk beds was not ideal, however not a deal breaker. A second set of keys would be handy.

  • "House overall was lovely, lots of space and bathrooms!"

Great location for the beach and town We did have a few issues with the keys for the garage, instructions were not clear and they weren't where they were supposed to be. This was sorted quickly by Sykes. Other issues include: Heating was on full when we arrived and the house was unbearably hot especially as it was August, we had to leave again as it was too hot to stand and explored the town instead. Loose tiles in the living room near the sofa made us uneasy incase they came up etc they were unavoidable to step on. Smoke alarm upstairs looked like the battery had been taken out Socket on the landing broken and secured with tape Dishwasher leaked quite a lot when in use so we were afraid to use it after we had seen it leaking, there was quite a bit of damage to the door because of this. Several beds had loose or broken slats The fact that the courtyard is shared was only revealed once our full payment was taken. Listing showed it as enclosed only which is slightly misleading. Otherwise the house was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

Check in was easy and the house warm on arrival( mid November to early December). This has not always been our experience . Thank you. We were careful with the heating and only had 3 radiators on during the day.We liked the fact we could recycle our rubbish with handy separation bins. The house was also well cleaned. The house has a lovely lounge with a comfortable sofa set, TV and a delightful fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher and spacious. There is a washing machine in a small laundry room next to a small third toilet. A metal spiral staircase leads up to 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. All bedrooms are tastefully furnished with one en-suite which was perfect for Grandma. There is a garage which offered ample space for our 7 seater Renault Trafic. We arrived later in the evening and parked outside the gates leading into the courtyard and next day had a polite note telling us we were blocking the footpath which was perfectly correct and could have been avoided had we read the instructions more carefully. Equally read the directions to the property carefully and you will not go wrong. The location is ideal. The beach, museum and town of Penmaenmahr are within a few minutes walk. Conwy, Llandudno, Bangor, Carnafon and so much more are a short drive away. Many guests wrote of welcome goodies they were given. We did not get any so cannot thank for those. The only thing we would ask the owners to check and try out themselves are the two single beds upstairs which were so creaky we kept waking ourselves and others up every time we moved. We certainly got the impression the owners care about their guests and hope to return to your lovely house again one day.

Close to the beach so it is easy to pop down for a bit. Also in a lovely village with a few places to eat and a couple of small supermarkets. Easy access to the rest of North Wales. A few aspects could do with a little maintenance and the sofa and some of the utensils could do with updating.

  • "A pleasant cottage that we’d happily recommend."

The town itself is nothing amazing but nice enough and nice to be able to just stroll down to the sea in an evening. A good location for visiting Anglesey, Snowdonia, etc. We have a large 7 seater car and we just fitted it in the garage. It would have felt in the way parked anywhere else as there is not that much space around the cottage. Pros - Nice welcome pack, cottage was private and interestingly laid out with good use of space, comfy beds and mattresses, comfortable seating in the lounge, literally a four minute walk to the beach. Cons - no DVD player or books which we’d have liked, a King size bed would be nice, there were no instructions for the heating, fan didn’t work on main bathroom. These were all minor points though, none of which spoiled the holiday.

Kitchen could do with collinder, corkscrew and baking trays . Rubbish sorting a pain as there are 5 bins in kitchen to contend with and en-suite in main bedroom is ok if your a small child , very small and nowhere to put anything oh and bin in bedroom would be helpful. Other then that ok . Nice welcome basket .

Quite difficult to find. So read the instructions carefully. Some small issues as there is a Sky TV box, but only the Freeview channels are available (not really an issue, but this should be clear). The dinning chairs need to be looked at as some of the screws holding them together are very loose. Several of the glasses and mugs are chipped. All together a very nice cottage.

  • "We had a few issues with this property which I feel need to be addressed, ie cooking utensils were old and dirty looking, pvc covering on settee was peeling off and the bits falling on the floor."

It took us ages to find the property due to poor directions. Flushing system in downstairs toilet would not stop running after flushing. Wifi password instructions were not readily found, gas went off on our penultimate final day so no hot water or cooking on gas hob for last 24 hours. Property owner not readily contactable to report these issues to. However, on contacting Sykes they were extremely helpful and were able to contact owner on our behalf and address most of our issues. Apart from that the property was good, nice clean bed linen and towels. Quiet location and security was good. Just a 15 minute walk to the village which had two really nice restaurants, a post office, two grocery stores, a very interesting charity shop. I cannot fault Sykes Cottages, they were very friendly and helpful from booking stage right through to the last day of our holiday. I would certainly use them again when next booking a self contained UK accommodation.
