  • "First impressions good but found the furniture poor for comfort."

Cleanliness good, Mattresses need replacing, found it difficult to get comfortable, so got little sleep. Stained dinning room chairs. Saw little of owner. Would not come again.

  • "Robert and Barbara have been wonderful hosts during our extended stay."

From their warm personal welcome, with recommendations of local activities and attractions for us to consider, and throughout our stay, nothing has been too much trouble for them. The quality of the accommodation is excellent. Immaculately clean and well-equipped, with weekly bed linen and towel changes, we have been very comfortable and appreciative of our time at Oakdene Farm. We would be delighted to stay here again.

  • "An enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of Shropshire."

Our hosts left us some very welcome gifts of Coronation Biscuits (and we took the tin as a memento), a bottle of Coronation ale and some milk. Thank you very much. The location is very close to both Shrewsbury and Ellesmere - both delightful places to visit. We also visited Berrington Hall, Attingham park, and Chirk Castle - all highly recommended. Our one negative comment is about the settees, which we found very uncomfortable (sorry). Also worth considering would be the installation of a walk in shower. It is not always easy for some people to clamber into a bath for a shower especially as there are no handles fitted in either bathroom.

  • "If you want peace and tranquility this is the place to go."

The cottage is set in a beautiful rural location and is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was lovely to wake up in the morning to only hear birds singing and not the usual traffic noise. Barbara and Robert are lovely hosts and left milk, eggs from their chickens, cookies and flowers. Would love to stay again.

  • "A very nice clean cottage."

Very good heating system and showers were very powerful. A few more plates, glasses etc would be good given there is a dishwasher. Being nearly 6 foot a larger double bed would have been great. The fridge was adequate, but is a little on the small size for a family. None of this would put us off booking again and we enjoyed our stay.

The location was ideal for walking in lovely countryside, good shopping in Shrewsbury, and accessing some lovely pubs / food (Burlston Arms / Red Lion @ Myddle). Would definitely recommend Acorn Cottage.

  • "Had a wonderful time at Acorn Cottage 1."

Everything was very clean. Beautiful surroundings very peaceful, with the only sounds coming from the sheep, cows and the occasional car down the lane. We were in awe of how many stars we saw at night from the cottage. Robert and Barbara were perfect hosts, lovely with our children. We will be back hopefully very soon.

  • "Another great stay - we decided to come back as the cottage is near to many places, but with plenty of space around to allow for all your social distancing needs."

Very quiet spot, with plenty of great walks right on your door step. The cottage was thoroughly cleaned before our stay and all the fixtures and fittings looked brand new. Robert & Barbara are great hosts and the milk & biscuits on arrival were very welcome - as were the nice flowers. We explored a range of different places, Hawkstone follies was a good day out and Shrewsbury is only 30 mins (max) away. The Burlton pub remains good, and is an easy 20 min walk from the cottage.

  • "A great place to stay, well decorated, great facilities, and really nice setting."

owners are lovely and little touches like milk and biscuits on arrival were really appreciated. The property is surrounded by some great, and some challenging walks -something for everyone. Enjoyed the walk from Clod mere to Ellsemere along the canal - worth doing and stopping at the boat house for a spot of lunch too. Although feels like its in the middle of nowhere (exactly what we were looking for), its still really close to a wide range of places. 30 mins from Shrewsbury, lots of great restaurants and cafes and handy supermarkets. The farm shop in Baschurch is really good too, highly recommend a visit there. Highly recommend this cottage

  • "Acorn Cottage is situated in a beautiful village Petton."

The surroundings are so tranquil for a restful and quiet break. The cottage is well equipped with all the mod cons and is squeaky clean. The kitchen has all the amenities along with a dishwasher and washing machine which made our stay very comfortable. The bedrooms are spacious and so are the bathrooms. Acorn Cottage has everything we could ask for. Barbara and Robert gave us a very warm welcome to Acorn Cottage. They are extremely friendly and provided us with lots of information about sightseeing as well as gourmet pubs to get good food. The church in Petton is gorgeous and definitely worth a visit. The chicken and ducks that Robert keeps are an absolute delight. To sum up Acorn cottage is a wonderful cottage and the hosts are amazing.

We didn’t want to come home! When we first arrived, we couldn’t stop saying “wow!”. Immaculately clean and extremely well equipped and comfortable. The finest of details had been thought of. Little touches like this make all the difference. Beautiful, peaceful setting, with resident ducks and chickens. It was well located for many local sightseeing attractions. Most things we wanted to do were only 30-40 minutes drive away. Lovely pub 5 minutes down the road for delicious meals, although you have everything you need to cook in the cottage. The owners are absolutely lovely. They welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home right away. We can’t wait until our next visit!
