"We stayed in september , First thing I did after settling in was to have a shower in which I slipped and injured my knee on the edge of the bath, this was due to a totally useless shower mat which just slipped as soon as
I stepped on it, you cannot reach the tap on the shower because the glass screen can't be opened as it is up against the wash basin."
The wash basin is too small and to make it even smaller there is a fixed tap in the middle of the basin, so really the bathroom isn't fit for purpose, could this be why there is no picture of it? The bedroom door catches the mattress on the bed when opening, over complicated cooker, seemed like we spent ages reading instruction manuals I know that isn't the fault of the property, but whats wrong with turning a knob.We really love Portmadog and surrounding area and were really looking forward to our stay. I usually am not one for complaining and I wasn't going to leave feedback but I thought I had to tell you our views. very dissapointed
Thanks for your feedback Jim. We’re sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay, reflected in your 50% scoring overall. If you had contacted us during your stay, we would’ve had the opportunity to address the issues you’ve raised.
Regarding your comments:-
1) The shower mat is supplied at the side of the bath. It is up to the user to check it is fitted in place before stepping on it. We cannot be held responsible if guests don’t ensure correct fitting.
2) That is the case with most showers, you usually have to stand in them to access the controls.
3) The bathroom is fit for purpose, the washbasin being perfectly usable.
4) The twin bedroom door touches the end of the quilt when closing the door. The door can still be fully opened and closed with ease.
5) The cooker requires 2 control knobs to be operated, function selector and temperature, which is fairly standard. A quick start guide on the worktop shows you how to do this, so there is no need to “spend ages reading instruction manuals”.
We go to a lot of effort to provide a comfortable and well equipped holiday home for our guests. We do feel a bit aggrieved that you have absolutely nothing positive to say about your stay. Despite saying that “I usually am not one for complaining” you’ve made a point of complaining about some fairly trivial things. I suppose you can’t keep all of the people happy all of the time!

"The property is in a quiet, secluded, private position yet just a minute from the main street."
Although overall clean and reasonably equipped, as with all holiday rentals, after so much usage it is now starting to show its age. Apart from this criticism we had a lovely stay and would recommend this property.
Thanks for your feedback Derek. We’re glad that you enjoyed your stay and would recommend. As usual, we will be doing some re-decoration over the quieter winter months.

No hesitation in re- booking and we were not disappointed. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well maintained and fully equiped with everything you could need. The location is quiet yet near to all Port Madogs amenities and the private parking a bonus. Can highly recommend.

"Great location, in the middle of town, but a private group of houses."
No noise heard from the town or anything. Lovely and spacious accommodation with a very well equipped kitchen with modern appliances.
Beds nice and soft, loads more room in the double than it looks in the picture, long and thin, rather than short. Good room in the twin, I had space to put the travelcot up between the two beds without needing to move the beds around.
Sofas are a little slippy as they are leather and personal preference is not for leather, but can understand why they are more practical in a holiday let.
Owner rang us on the way to let us know there may be a small issue with the highchair once we got there, but to let them know and they would be coming to change it over in the week. It was fine, just a little stained which is to be expected with a baby's highchair! It has also been changed over for a brand new one now anyway. I text the owner letting them know of a couple of things that could do with being fixed (nothing that affected the holiday, things such as one of the spotlights in the bathroom was out, it was 1 of 6 so didn't affect our stay at all) and these were sorted ASAP.
Parking is available for two cars, but could potentially get a little tight depending on the size of your vehicles.
Although pet friendly, there was not a hair in sight.
Generally feels a well maintained flat. Will definitely be booking again.
Thanks for the positive feedback Amy, we’re glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.

.. so much so... we are hoping to visit again very soon!! This was a lastminute.com find as we had car trouble whilst we were already staying in Porthmadog and couldn't extend our stay in the property we initially booked in... but we felt blessed to have found this gem of a property and wished we could've stayed here from the get-go, as this property was more roomy and airy...!!! My husband, son and pooch were way more settled here

It’s a shame because the apartment looks lovely on the advert. The location is ideal for bus routes and parking is a bonus. The view however from the apartment was of a carpark and people kept looking in and walking through the courtyard where we sat do not very private.
Thanks for your feedback Margaret, we hope that otherwise you enjoyed your holiday. We wish that you had reported the cleanliness issue when you arrived as It would have given us the opportunity to resolve it. We will address this with our cleaner. Checking back this year, there have been no previous issues, with the cleanliness scores usually 100%.
We're sorry that you didn't like the courtyard and car park. In 14 years it is the first complaint we've had regarding this.

The property owner did all he could but the maintenance company were uncontactable.
Thanks for your feedback George, we hope you enjoyed your holiday. A few points regarding your comments:- 1) The broken bed, while still usable, was replaced with a new bed less than 48 hours after being reported. 2) The smell reported from the damp carpet (due to the leak which was resolved within an hour) which made the second bedroom uninhabitable - both myself and my housekeeper called in after you left and didn’t notice any odour at all. The next guests (who arrived the same day you departed) have not reported any issues.

Comfortable apartment with everything you could need for a holiday stay. Pet friendly which is a huge bonus for travellers with their pets. We had rescheduled twice due to the pandemic so we were glad to finally make it! The apartment was warm and cosy with a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. The shower pressure was excellent. There was also a very nicely put together list of things to do in the area. The location is great as it's right in the centre of town but very quiet. "We had a really nice week in Porthmadog."
The location of this apartment is excellent, and we'd definitely return to Porthmadog itself for a future holiday. On the whole the apartment was as advertised, spacious, and well-equipped (minus essentials in the kitchen like salt etc), however we did question why we needed to bring our own towels since we were asked to put bed linen in a degradable bag at the end of the stay anyway (with a "threat" of a £25 charge if we didn't do this). Covid seems like a bit of an excuse here, and it's not ideal to have damp towels to deal with at the end of the week. The parking on site was really handy, and we had no issues, but wondered whether it was actually possible to manoeuvre into/out of the designated space should their have been cars in the adjacent spaces. Overall a nice place to stay for a week.
Thanks for your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed your holiday. We must apologise regarding the out of date Covid sign, which mentions an additional charge which no longer applies (this has now been removed). Unfortunately, due to Covid we were unable to provide towels for the last two years. We are currently reviewing this with our housekeeper and we hope to be able to supply towels soon. We do hope that this didn’t detract from the enjoyment of your stay.

"This property offered everything you know and expect from a Sykes cottage."
It was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The weather was not good however, due to the lovely, spacious accommodation, we were able to stay comfortably indoors when the weather was too bad to go out.
This location is tremendous, right on the harbour and seconds from the high street, and you can also see the steam trains from the window! It is also a great centre point for visiting the beautiful surrounding area. Whilst there is no garden for dogs, there are quick walking places (and lots of bins) right outside the complex and lots of walking opportunites close by. All in all, a lovely break. This is the second time of staying within the Oakleys complex (2 different properties, both via Sykes) and we would not hesitate to recommend it.

Location was excellent , tucked away near the harbour , very quiet at night - yet all the towns facilities were close by. It is the small details which mean the most, plenty of coat hangers , a non slip mat to use in the bath/shower and a nightlight near the bedrooms. However, please note , no hairdryer !

This our fourth time of visiting and the cleanliness no-where matched the previous times.
