  • "We had a perfect stay despite only one sunny day."

The cottage is so lovely to come back to after a week of walking and cycling everyday. We loved that the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay including dishwasher tablets, washing up sponge etc which is so often annoyingly lacking at other properties. The cottage and garden are obviousl loved and very well looked after.

  • "The upper bedrooms are not suitable for adults."

There is no point in the room where you can stand upright and we are not tall people. They are not suitable for children either as there is no Stairgate at the top. Also, there is no spare bedding. If someone is unwell or a child wets the bed in the night you need bedding immediately. No time to put the washing machine on.The rest of the cottage is small but cosy and the view is fantastic. Also, the garden is well maintained.Another downside is that this is the first cottage we have been to where there was not even the smallest welcome pack.Food delivery expected later in the evening but we could not even make a cup of tea on arrival.

We are sorry you encountered some issues during your stay. On the Sykes website it clearly states that the stairs are steep and the two upstairs rooms have low ceilings and are not suitable for the infirm or disabled guest. There is a stair gate for children if required and is always left upstairs in one of the bedrooms. We have had many families stay at Conion Ganol and they have loved the property. We do provide hand soap, dishwasher detergent, toilet rolls etc, we do not provide a food welcome pack as we do not know the dietary requirements of our guests. Property Owner

Everything that we needed to relax for a week was available in the cottage. Despite it's remote location the 4G signal worked and we could get most of the main tv channels. Not that we watched much telly as the views are stupendous when the clouds lift and the night sky is amazing. There are wonderful local walks from the cottage where you can see how the tip of the Peninsula is surrounded by the sea. We visited some lovely places, Plas yn Rhiw and it's great cafe and garden, Llanbedrog ( stunning cafe), Abersoch ( Crust does unique and Delicious pizzas), Porth Neigwl, Aberdaron ( great fish bar) and Porth Or ( cafe on the beach), all within 15 miles, along narrow lanes brimming with berries and wildflowers and birds. Pheasants, rabbits, choughs, buzzards, all sorts of birds, insects and butterflies can be seen in and from the garden. This is a wonderful place to stay if you seek peace, beauty and wildlife. We hope to return.

We thought it was beautiful inside and out ! and loved the cottage feel , the furniture, beams etc . We felt it was very special as it had been in the family for many generations . The cottage was very clean and warm when we arrived. Although we needed to light the fire to give it a more cosy feel . It got very hot inside with the fire on. Thank you for providing lots of coal in the coal bunker outside which was more than we expected, but much appreciated. The garden is beautiful and the views are stunning. Our 2 dogs loved relaxing in the garden after our walks. There are a few walks straight from the cottage, which provide some amazing views. We also spent time on the beaches with the dogs and drove to local places, and did a few longer coastal walks. All in all a fantastic week !

  • "It was a great experience & easily one of the best cottages we have stayed in."

The best things were the peace & quiet, the view of the bay from the bedroom window, and the lovely garden around the cottage. We loved watching the birds every morning around breakfast time. The furnishings inside the cottage were very much in keeping with the age of the property but had modern appliances too. We appreciated all the little extras that were provided like dishwasher tablets, washing machine pouches, handwash, toilet paper etc. The bed was very comfortable & we slept well. The multi-fuel fire was a welcome addition to warm the cottage on cold evenings. One small improvement could be the addition of a rug on the stone floor in the kitchen. There were plenty of walks in the surrounding area & pretty beaches further afield to drive to. Be prepared to drive if you require access to larger supermarkets than the little Spar in Aberdaron. If you're looking for a cottage with character, this is ideal.

I know the area very well from my youth and know there are so many different walks you can go on from the front door. It was a great reset for me and loved being back in the old style cottage. When arrived it was warm and clean and I had no problem with notices over the sink regards the waste since you only need to read them once :) I'm a large chap ut had no problems as I only used the downstairs and while there is no wifi there was a good 4G signal which allowed me to access the internet when I need to. I will be staying again soon.

  • "We arrived at 17."

20, the cottage was cold, damp and dirty. It took us over 48 hours to get it aired and warm. We went away as we have the builders in here, we live in a stone cottage that’s grade 2 listed, so we know the issues. We had taken hot water bottles thank fully. We spent all the first day cleaning, the owner obviously doesn’t know the meaning of the word and to say they deep clean is a joke. I took pictures to prove the state it was in, totally disgusting. The upstairs rooms are not safe to use, especially for children. The notices about the cottage are unnecessary, especially one by the kitchen sink, telling you that the cesspit, likes human waist for bacteria!!! Not what you want to read while preparing food. We read in visitors book people complaining as far back as 2028, so why do Sykes still list this property? It’s got lovely views but that’s it. Opener needs to up there game massively.

Lovely garden and so pretty externally. The cottage is clean and the kitchen has everything needed. Towels and bed linen are spotless. The only downside for us was the dark period furniture inside the cottage. It felt cluttered, dark and depressing. We had good weather so stayed outside most of our stay. If you like the oldy worldly feeling then you will love it, just not for us.

The beds are very small and uncomfortable. Only 1 wardrobe for a 6 bed cottage . Bathroom seals around bath poor. Bath seat over bath in order to shower is unsafe . Loose and slipping off. Can’t stand in bath to shower . Not enough equipment in kitchen . No large pans . No serving dishes. Need larger pots for cooking . We struggled and it wa only 2 of us. We received an email from the owners which was fine about what to do but they bordered on the shout and rude when repeated all around the cottage in capital letters and exclamation marks. We found it quite upsetting and anxiety was high . We have stayed in many cottages before but felt they well over stepped the welcome mark. The room was cluttered but ok . The main rug was dirty , the cottage was clean b it didn’t smell fresh . The views were the only good thing . We would Have been very disappointed if we had paid high season price . This cottage is really only for 2 adults and small children not 6 adults . Hope this feedback helps . Ps the welcome letter said the owners may call in to check all was ok , they didn’t but we felt we couldn’t relax in case they descended on us to check up on us . We won’t be booking this cottage again .

The cottage is set up high above the coastline with lovely veiws along the coast . Our personal opinion is that the cottage does need a bit of an update in certain areas and the lounge seems to have too much furniture in it making it seem cluttered . Removing a few items of furniture from the room and repositioning the remainder would make it a lot more comfortable . The 3 of us and our dog really enjoyed our time there and would definately return for another stay

  • "The place was lovely."

The we got there late and we got lost. If there was a light on outside it would have been some help. we noticed a few places had flag outside so was easy to find. It was great they had a file to give us information of the cottage, But just a thought the basic things could have been laminated and put up on the wall. Only because after we had cleaned up my son went to take the bin over to were it stated on in the file. Only to find the bin locked He forgot where the key was so left the bin outside came back to the cottage, we looked in the file, he then went back to the bill to look for the key, only to find a very rude man telling him off. My son explained he forgot under which plant pot the key was and only went back to the cottage to check. the Gentleman was just rude and kept saying what did it say in the file, this went on for 5 mins until he told my son. If they are the owners of the property I suggest they be a bit more polite to people who rent it out. Apart from that it was a lovely holiday, I bumped my head a few times, but only to be expected. This was a lovely place but would suggest what they say on the brief upstairs is only suitable for kids.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear of the issues you raised. We have an outside light but this is not sensor triggered as it would likely be set off by wildlife so have instead added a note to email communications asking guests to bring a torch if they will be arriving in the dark. We do have some advisory items laminated on the wall but feel that too many would be seen as uninviting so we have any other information listed in our welcome folder. I am sorry if the neighbour down the road was rude to your son. I have always found him to be pleasant so will query this when I next see him but am sorry for any upset caused. We do also have a note on the website that there is limited head room in the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. I am sorry that you bumped your head but am glad that you enjoyed your stay overall. However we were overall disappointed. There were no festive decorations up, as we were there for Christmas week this would have been a nice touch. The bathroom was very dated, can’t stand up in the shower. No hard standing to park on. The upstairs bedrooms were in need of tlc, one had paint flaking off the ceiling, it was all over the pillows! The other had bits of plaster fallen off the wall around the window, with marks on the walls. I know it’s an old character cottage but standards have to be maintained. If we had booked another week in winter, when it’s a lot cheaper, we may have forgiven more, but we paid a lot for Christmas week and weren’t given value for money.
