. We were lucky with the weather and made full use of the balcony. The heating failed the first night ,contacted the owner who fixed it the day after.Quiet and peaceful, very relaxing, not far from Llandudno ,Colwyn Bay.If you want a few quiet days to unwind this is the place for you. Also pets are welcome . Thank you for the excellent cleanliness, comfort and facilities score. We are glad we could help sort the heating for you and that you enjoyed the balcony in good weather so you could really enjoy the spectacular views .

"We expected a marvellous holiday as we always have with Sykes but although the view was absolutely fantastic our holiday was marred by the fact there was NO hot water."
When hubby looked at reviews the previous people had reported it. The floor in the lounge and dining room was warpedby damp. There was a washer and freezer available the key for the shed was on a bunch but no note left as to where the bunch was. We decided that we would leave on the Thursday as we were desperate for a shower. I'm sorry Sykes but we will have to have a long think before holidaying with you again
We are sorry sorry about any issues you had while staying, we have now got another property manager and all areas flagged will be checked and remedied where necessary, the boiler has now been rectified and we have now removed the washing machine from the advert listing, apologies for that inconvenience

"Very disappointed, the pictures make this place look beautiful, in reality it’s very old, very dated, smells of drains not clean and falling apart, the views are spectacular and amazing just a shame the upkeep of this lodge wasn’t the same."
Didn’t stay for the duration due to how uncomfortable the bed was, I think it’s as old as me.
I am surprised the reviews on this place were as good as they are, I think people are so happy with the scenic views they forget about the state of the property.
The owner really needs to update this property if they are renting it out.
Thank you for your comments, we will of course have the bed and drains checked.

"On arrival ,not off to a good start , no key for 3 days as previous occupants had taken it home so we had to wait for it to be posted back !"
!..Cabin not as advertised ,very dated and maintenance issues ,very disappointing. Back door lock had metal sticking out ,owner told ,didn't seem interested untill my wife ripped her coat on it next day £50 offered .Lots of problems with faulty boiler , no hot water / heating had to keep phoning/ texting owner to come out and get it up and running again ..We wasted a lot of time waiting for him to respond ..Plumber came out the night before we left and a part was needed ...so it wasn't fixed while we were there ..On one occasion the owner told me he could come out as he was going play golf ( he lived only 5 mins away) so he was sending his dad who lived two valleys away , so he had to drive to us ..We decided to leave even though we had another night booked ,enough is enough . Key left where requested and owner never asked us why we had left early .. We asked for a full refund as it really wasn't the holiday we were hoping it would be .. We got £100 plus £50 for my wife's coat as he said he had bills to pay ! We had to wait 10 days to get the money off him after numerous prompts as everything was ..I will sort it tomorrow but tomorrow never came ..We spoke to sykes cottages and they didn't want to know so we will remember not to book through them again .. A holiday we will remember for a long time but for all the wrong reasons ..
We apologise for any inconvenience you had while at the property, the missing key was indeed unfortunate and had regrettably been outside our control at the time. The door lock has now been repaired and we are arranging to bring another person onboard to ensure that moving forward any maintenance is dealt with swiftly, we have also now had the boiler rep[laced.

Kitchen utensils, layout fine. Cleaning ladies very helpful 2nd Saturday we were there.
2 large settees very very uncomfortable and smelt dreadfully on arrival. We had to give them a good spray to deplete the odours.
Bed matresses very worn, need replacing.
Boiler pressure needed attention 4 times during our stay. We ended up seeing to it ourselves.

"Don't get me wrong but it's clear that this is a business in a certain transition."
The lodge was spacious and had the facilities regonised by today's traveller.
The Most annoying thing was lack of hot water owing to quite clearly an ongoing boiler problem which in fairness should have been rectified prior to our stay.
You also had mold and mildew on the bathroom ceiling and roller blind which also should have been dealt with...
As I mentioned before...a work in progress.
Apart from this,....The area was absolutely beautiful and views amazing.

The full Sky Q package was a bonus.
We stayed during the heatwave in August 2022 so was glad that we read previous comments and took a fan with us as the living area got extremely hot during the day (not that we were in during the day as there is so much to explore in the surrounding area). The freezer in the adjoining shed was useful for the ice creams/ice lollies too!
I pointed out a couple of lights which weren't working so hope that James has fixed those for future guests.
Overall, we had a great stay at Summertime Lodge.

"This has been our 4th visit to Summertime Lodge and have been regular visitors since Gill was the owner."
The information on Sykes is a bit out of date. The walk in dressing room is now an en suite, and there is no longer a DVD player, but plenty to watch as owner has full Sky package, and Netflix and Prime capabilities if you are subscribed (just input your email and password).
If you want to cook everything is there you really don't have to bring anything at all except mabe a paring knife if you need to peel anything as there are no small paring knives.
If you don't want to cook there are lots of places to eat or order in, many deliver. James the owner was very helpful with this. He was also extremely accommodating and very helpful with everything. Nothing was too much trouble. One bit of feedback I would give would be to update the laminated information card as some info has changed.
If it is going to be warm I would suggest taking a fan as the main room gets very hot in the afternoons. The view from the deck is breathtaking. It's also nice and peaceful. If you like a bit of a faster pace Llandudno and Rhyll are not very far. All in all a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend.

Plenty of storage and comfortable beds. Kitchen facilities had everything we needed though on previous comments guests mentioned an ice box, which there wasn’t (luckily we hadn’t ordered a food shop or freezer food as we usually do when we go away).
Only 10mins from the beach, lots of interesting sights close by including the ‘I’m a Celebrity Castle’ just down the road.
No clear instructions about departure (ie. Bedding, towels, key). Welcome sheet mentioned about coloured waste bins but there was only a big red industrial bin inside the entrance.

It is ideal for relaxing evenings, watching the sunset whilst enjoying the surrounding sounds of the sheep and birds.
Summertime Lodge is very comfortable and well equipped, with the use of a large freezer in the adjoining shed.
The owner, James and his family are very welcoming and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they went to great lengths to ensure that we had everything we needed. They are a delightful family and it was a pleasure to meet James’s 89 year young grandmother.

The decking and decking furniture was amazing. The rest of the lodge was tired and dated and in much need of renovation. There were multiple mouldy areas on the bathroom ceiling and bathroom blind. We had problems with the Sky, the boiler, a power cut and a dirty unusable frying pan all of which James and his family rectified extremely quickly which was great. James said he had plans to renovate the lodges next year so if this happens we would return as the location is great for exploration of the North Wales coastal region, especially Llandudno which was our favourite.

"We were at Summertime Lodge for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The Lodge was really comfortable and very clean throughout. We felt it was like home from home and the owners, Sharon and James, had, obviously, worked hard to make it so. They were friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The view from the decking/patio was to die for. There is nothing like seeing something like that "in person" as such - no picture can really do it justice.
With the car we were able to travel easily to all the well known places of interest. We even spent a lovely day at Chester and enjoyed a short boat trip up the river Dee. Another good day out was to Llandudno - there's so much to see there.
We would certainly recommend Summertime Lodge to any one looking to stay in North Wales and hope to return to the Lodge again in the not too distant future.

The Lodge had everything we needed fully fitted kitchen, TV with Sky Q and access to Netflix, electric fireplace and central heating for a colder weather if you need that works very fast. We slept well bed was very comfortable. The Lodge was clean nothing to complain. The view from the veranda is beautiful and I recommend to go on the mountain you can see from the veranda for more beautiful views. Close to the town Abergele and even closer to the coast. Lovely owners! On our last day James was so nice and give us a lift to the Abergele train station as we didn't travel by car that was very kind of him and we really appreciate that. If you need a quiet place to just sit and enjoy your free time looking on beautiful view or you're looking for more active holiday's with long walks this is the perfect place that combine both options. You can also visit near town of Llandudno that is also a beautiful place, even a ride in a bus was very enjoyable with all the amazing views on the villages and the coast. I think week was not enough to fully enjoy this place. Totally fell in love with Wales and the area of Rhyd-y-foel. Can't wait for another holiday in this wonderful place!
