The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed and the owners could not have been more accommodating. Plenty of hot water and fuel for the wood burner which was needed as we had heavy snow and sub zero temperatures. My only quibble and it is a minor one is that the settees were not as comfortable as I would have liked however the bed made up for this . A beautiful setting with walks right from the front door hope to return x

Lightbulbs, batteries, torch, salt, pepper, cooking spray, tin foil, cleaning items, the list goes on. The owners went above and beyond, anywhere else, I have stayed. They even provided details of local places to visit/eat, telephone numbers and also where to get food etc. The cottage had been laid out well. It felt spacious even though alot had to be fitted in. There were even DVDs and books for you to use. The bedroom was especially beautiful. Chocolates and even sleep spray had been left as a gift The bedding was high quality, as was the mattress. About the location

TANYGRISIAU

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1.1 miles; Porthmadog 8 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles; Beddgelert 16 miles.

Tanygrisiau, meaning "below the steps", refers to the stepped cliffs above this traditional Welsh village. The Moelwyn mountains protect the village from much of the northerly gales in the winter, and give it a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering its location high in Snowdon. The village stands amongst dramatic scenery, and Tanygrisiau is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself. Tanygrisiau was famous for its slate mining, producing a high quality black slate that was used across the world. Tanygrisiau railway station is on the famous Ffestiniog Railway, a narrow gauge railway built to carry slate from the mines down to the sea at Porthmadog; today it is a renowned tourist attraction providing stunning views on its trip to the coast.
