"We had a lovely stay at Ty Gwynn."
The cottage is cosy and clean with everything you could need. The little one particularly loved her room with the fox. We had fun playing the games which are provided. Also a beautiful garden which we enjoyed with fantastic views all around. We all slept brilliantly. It’s so quiet. Thanks for the Welsh cakes which were delicious. A brilliant place to stay.
Many thanks for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed it. Glad the little one enjoyed her room. Our grandchildren love being at Ty Gwynn too. Property Owner

"We've stayed at Ty Gwynn a few times now and it never disappoints."
The house is very comfortable and sits in a beautiful location. There are lovely walks from the house or lots of places both on the coast and in Snowdonia within a short drive. I enjoy cooking when we're on holiday and the kitchen is well-equipped and spacious.
We were so pleased you visited us again. It was great to host you. Property Owner

"Lovely property."
We stayed here as a group of 5 women for a mountain biking trip and it’s was perfect. Plenty of space, fires to keep warm in evening. Huge garden at the back, which we didn’t get to make use of but it would be perfect to stay with a dog or in summer.
Yes would be lovely to have you all back again in the summer. Property Owner

"Very detailed pre-arrival instructions."
Cottage very clean and kitchen well equipped. Fireplace worked very well and plenty of fuel available. Prompt response from owner when we had a minor issue. Lots to do in the area for all age groups.

"This was a lovely cottage."
Really well equipped and warm, comfortable and quiet. The locals were very friendly and within seconds of some amazing walks. Our host kept in contact to help whenever we needed so I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

"Great location for walking, well equipped cottage, dog friendly."
-
"Lovely house, comfortable and very well equipped."
Great garden with tremendous views. Delightful to see the steam train going past the end of the garden every so often! Had a super 4 day break.
-
"What can I say, an amazing little hideaway in Snowdonia."
The perfect base for adventuring & then relaxing by the fire at the end of the day. The property had everything we needed and was full of charm and quirks! We will definitely be returning :)
-
"Cottage was well equipped and roomy ."
Really enjoyed our stay with our 2 small dogs. Beautiful walks from the doorstep and a lovely local cafe. This is a really good base for touring north wales with so many things to do within a short drive. Would definitely recommend this cottage and owner .
-
"This was our second visit to Ty Gwynn and again we had an amazing holiday."
The owners are very welcoming and just a phone call away. The cottage is spacious, clean and welcoming with all of the amenities you could need. It is an ideal base for any adventures you may wish to have in Snowdonia not to mention some spectacular walks and scenery from your doorstep. Thanks again Gwynn family. We shall see you again soon.
Many thanks for visiting us again and being such perfect guests. Property Owner

"It's a lovely little cottage, really clean, gorgeous garden."
A great base for exploring Wales. Has everything you need, very comfortable, and the owner is really friendly!
-
"Quaint little Welsh cottage, well equipped and large kitchen, all as described in the advertised details."
Found the house easily, but we have stayed in the village twice before. Great base for touring as well as local walks. Easy enough walk into town and a cheap train ride to Llandudno that is very scenic. Didn't get 5 stars because of the bathroom. Never would I expect clear glass and so we kept the blinds closed all week. Just needs some stick on frosted film or something similar. No wardrobe, just coat hangers on the back of the bedroom door, so we used the back bedroom as the dressing room. Neighbour, Simon, very friendly and Nigel a very attentive holiday home owner.
Many thanks for your feedback. You are the first to comment on the bathroom window, which does have a Venetian blind, so we have now had it frosted. There is wardrobe hanging space in the attic bedroom. We do hope you visit us again to test it out. Property Owner

"We had a super break at Ty Gwynn."
The cottage had everything we needed, it was spotlessly clean and is located in a great location to explore Snowdonia. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting around the dining table for a meal before relaxing in front of the log burner. We had some sunny spells and took advantage of the decked area at the top of the garden which has excellent views of the surrounding area, mountains and slate mines. We would recommend Ty Gwynn, .
-
"Cottage extremely clean and comfortable and good communications with the owner, if any problems."
Which there were none. A very enjoyable holiday in a lovely location.
-
"We had a really lovely stay at Ty Gwynn."
It was clean and comfy, and had everything we needed for a week off with beautiful walks straight out the door into the hills.
-
"Extremely clean and well presented."
Very spatial kitchen and dining area.
-
"This was our second visit to Ty Gwynn and it did not disappoint."
We love the location in Tanygrisiau - it's a great base for visiting Snowdonia and the coast - and it's such a comfortable cottage. Everything is super clean and comfortable and it is very spacious. This is a real bonus because a lot of holiday cottages are a bit snug. The kitchen is really well-equipped with plenty of room to cook which we like to do in the evenings when we're away. I'm sure we'll be back again!

"Third time at this cottage and happy to return."
Take some warm clothes as bit chilly especially the kitchen/diner. Facilities good. Great village as we love the slate mine and mountains behind the cottage. Blaenau Ffestiniog, good for shopping for essentials and fish and chips. Porthmadog has good supermarkets and nearby Black Rock Sands beach is a must.
So pleased you enjoyed your return visit. Sorry to hear you were a bit chilly. For the benefit of future guests.....We do always recommend that you use the multi fuel stove in the kitchen and the fire in the lounge. There is plenty of coal and smokeless fuel provided for these free of any extra charge. Storage and electric radiators are also provided throughout the house. We keep it cozy and warm even in the coldest winter months. So I am not sure why you kept it cold? Property Owner

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day visit, the property was very much home from ..."
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day visit, the property was very much home from home, it was a great base for us to explore various locations and it had lots of nice walks around It would of been better if the weather had been good but you can’t win everything, great correspondence from Nigel and a lovely touch with the milk and Welsh cakes, we would not hesitate in returning
-
"The house was spotless , and the kitchen was better equipped than my own."
We really appreciated the milk and welsh cakes you left us , it was very kind thankyou .There are so many beautiful walks right from the door step , it was just the 3 of us that went , my husband myself , and our little dog daisy all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, although im sure daisy thought we owned the ahole of wales whn we left . Cant wait to come back already , will definitely book again it was a real home from home and we loved it ,thankyou again .

"We enjoyed our stay and the location for local walks, trips out and amenities is good."
A car is essential as it’s over a mile by a busy road to the nearest shops. Some fantastic walks from the doorstep and the local history is worth looking into. There were just us 2 adults and our dog. The small single room is fine but the loft room has almost vertical stairs to it and wouldn’t suit everyone. We went November and discovered how used to central heating we are. It’s nice but a faff sometimes to have to make real fires which are essential for comfort in colder weather. Enough coal was supplied but there is a charge for logs. We’d of preferred the cost to be hidden ie put an extra amount on the booking fee. We’ve not had to pay for heat before in a rental. That’s just a personal preference. Other than that the cottage is faultless with a really well equipped kitchen and spotless bathroom (hot water pressure out of shower a little lane but manageable) All in all we thought it was worth every penny- we got it late and at a reduced rate because of that. Good correspondence with the owner, Nigel, and ideal cottage for exploring the local area but not one we feel for people with babies/youngsters because of those loft stairs.
-
"The cottage makes a great base for enjoying everything the area has to offer."
The surrounding area is stunning. Easy parking outside the property. Great lakeside cafe a few minutes walk away, breakfast recommended- fried bread with it! The cottage has great facilities and a lovely garden.
-
"The cottage was perfect- so well equipped, there was everything we needed."
there is parking right outside the cottage which was ideal. It was warm and cosy, and exceptionally clean - plenty of hot water at all times. I worry when a place is dog friendly that it might be smelly but this wasn’t the case. We couldn’t fault it and it made a fabulous base for our walking holiday. Our welcome pack was delivered by Becky who rescued us when we couldn’t find the cottage (we were right outside it!) and she was so friendly and helpful - after our long journey it was lovely to see a friendly face. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to be explore the area - it’s beautiful.
-
"Nigel was a very considerate host and gave us lots of helpful information to ensure a comfortable and trouble free stay."
The house was very comfortable and located in a very beautiful part of Wales. There was access from the door to a gorgeous walk along the reservoir and up to the high Dam. If we had stayed longer we could also have taken advantage of access to the steam railway just behind the house to expand our walks. Instead we headed to Coen y Brenin for mountain biking and trail running as well as a trip to Dolgellau to cycle along the estuary to Barmouth. We also braved the dizzy heights of the Zip World quarry experience. A fabulous holiday and a lovely house from which to enjoy it. Thank you.
-
"We have just come back from spending an amazing week at Ty Gwynn."
A lovely welcoming, comfortable property with every essential thought of. The garden is also an added bonus on the hot summer evenings. There are some great walks and activities on your doorstep(Tanygrisiau reservoir and water falls) and the Blaenau Ffestiniog railway stopping not 5mins from the house(Tanygrisiau Station). The property also made a great base for exploring the North of Wales. There was so much to do we couldn't fit it all in, so we have re-booked for next year.
-
"A lovely family cottage well situated with all the facilities needed for a good holiday whatever the weather."
The weather was very kind to us and we toured the area. Ffestiniog railway, Barmouth,Canarfon castle,Snowdon mountain railway, Bedgellert forest and even walked up the village to Cwmorthin site of the abandoned village. Stout shoes recommended. Nigel the owner is very helpful providing all the information required for your stay.
-
"Lovely cottage in a beautiful place."
Most amenities are a short drive away giving a sense of isolation. This was just perfect. Just be aware that the top attic room is not the easiest to climb if you have mobility issues. The communication was great throughout and the neighbours were lovely. Absolutely would stay there again.
-
"Lovely cottage , clean and comfortable."
Easy walks from the cottage and great position . Good base for easy access to local attractions . Fantastic views from garden and lovely seating area at top of garden which we used in the early evening.
-
"The cottage was beautiful and well maintained."
we were really surprised that there were everything you needed for example the kitchen was stocked with everything you could need as we wasn't sure so brought our own cloths, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid etc but these was not needed. It was also a lovely suprise a few extras were left for us milk, eggs, chocolate etc.
-
"A lovely, homely place to stay, great location, with lots of options from the house or to travel within snowdonia."
I highly recommend staying here.
-
"We really enjoyed our week at Ty Gwynn and loved the cottage."
It was very comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were really comfortable and the cottage was nice and warm. It was great having a big kitchen with a dining table because it makes it enjoyable to cook and relax over a nice meal in the evenings. We've stayed in the village before and really love it there because you are surrounded by stunning scenery. You can do nice walks from the house and it's well-placed for exploring Snowdonia and the coast.
-
"We had a great holiday."
Lovely cottage and lots to do in the surrounding area! Really had a great time! Thnxs!!
-
"We had a lovely week at this cosy cottage."
There was plenty of space for our family of four as well as the dog, and the cottage was really well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The large kitchen-diner, with its seating area in front of the stove, was a real highlight of our stay. We didn't need to light the stove during our stay, but I can imagine this would be a great feature in colder weather. We were lucky to have lovely weather for our week so got to enjoy morning coffees sat on the raised deck in the garden taking in the mountain views. The cottage is set in a beautiful, quiet area with fantastic walks on the doorstep, plus it's only a short drive to the coast and local supermarket. Communication with the owners before our stay was great, and they also checked in with us after our arrival to make sure everything was ok with the cottage. All in all, a wonderful week in Snowdonia and we'd love to visit the cottage again.
-
"Lovely house in great location, beautiful walks to waterfalls and water."
Short drive to Snowden and all the zip world adventures. Had a lovely time as a family of 5.
-
"We had a very happy and comfortable stay here and would definitely come back."
-
"A beautifully situated cottage surrounded by mountains and mother nature."
Upon entering a warm and cosey feeling hit us. We were greeted with welcome goodies. The cottage was immaculate with a beautiful spacious garden where our furry son enjoyed his holiday
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Such feedback makes it all worthwhile. We look forward to you visiting us again. Nigel & Liz Property Owner

"What is there to say about this cottage other than fantastic!"
Comfortable and well equipped for a winter stay, and located in the picturesque town of Tanygrisiau, this cottage was everything we could hope for during our 2 week holiday. The coal fire was so inviting after a wet walk in the mountains and surrounding areas, and the views even from the cottage itself really added to a enjoyable holiday. The neighbours were very helpful, even offering valuable knowledge of the best route to take up Mount Snowdon. This was a cottage that we would love to come back to again in the not so distant future!
Many thanks for your positive feed back. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your next visit. Nigel & Liz Property Owner

"A very well equipped cottage, in a beautiful location."
The owner was superb throughout, with excellent communication. The cottage was beautiful and well maintained. A real home from home feel. Would highly recommend this property. Set in a residential area, with friendly and helpful neighbours. Parked with ease, outside the property. Nearest shops for essentials about a five minute drive. Overall enjoyed our stay here.
It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay at Ty Gwynn. many thanks for your lovely comments. Nigel &n Liz Property Owner

"Just back from a fantastic holiday, which was made all the better for our stay at Ty Gwynn cottage."
Beautifully situated nestled in the mountains with magical lakes and waterfalls within a short walking distance. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable with coal fire and stove to cosey up with of an evening. Nigel is an exceptional host and left milk, butter and cake for us when we arrived and was always on hand to answer any queries or questions during our stay. Can't wait to stay here again very soon!
Many thanks for your feedback. Its so important to us. We are so good you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back. Nigel Property Owner

"Fabulous location!"
!! Fabulous walks just from the cottage!! 20 min to outstanding beach and 40 min to Snowdonia!!! Loads to do and see around! Clean, comfortable, garden was just beautiful and the decking was amazing after long walk glass of Welsh gin cheese and peace !!!! We loved it and our dogs loved it too!!!

"Little Gem of a cottage."
Fantastic owners!
-
"Comfortable cottage, ideally placed for exploring the area"
-
"We had a wonderful two night stay at Ty Gwynn, its just a shame it was`nt a longer visit."
Post visit communication with the owner Nigel was always quick, good and informative. The cottage is lovely, spotlessly clean with ample modern facilities, coal fire and a wood burner, also has the benefit of a large rear garden with an elevated sun deck. As we were only there for two nights we did not really explore the area as we wanted to, due to a a pretty full itinerary, but it is situated in a very convenient area to discover the delights of North Wales and Snowdonia. We tried the local cafe on Saturday night which at the moment (covid) it doubles as a Greek restaurant, highly recommended and only a five minute walk and dog friendly too! All the family were sad to leave and would gladly return tomorrow for a longer visit.
-
"Enjoyed our stay, very quiet location and great value for money."
Only point of note is that the photographs of the cottage imply you can park on the premises when actually the space is too short and the access is too high (for my vehicle, a honda civic). The road is so quiet however parking directly outside wasn't an issue. (I will tick 'publish the feedback' but feel free to exclude any elements about the parking should you wish)
Many thanks for your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. The “off road parking” refers to the parking bays opposite the cottage. I confirm that it is not possible to get any vehicle into the double gated area in front of the property. Nigel Property Owner

"Our short stay at Ty Gwynn was lovely!"
The welcome pack was a thoughtful gesture and the cosy cottage was very clean with a well equipped and spacious kitchen with a log burner. The lounge was a good size and has ample seating with a coal fire (which we did not need to use) The cottage is a great place to use as a base for touring around this beautiful part of Wales. All three bedrooms were very comfortable. It has a modern bathroom with plenty of hot showers for our party of 5. There are fabulous views from the back garden to enjoy with enough seating for everyone. The owners had provided a great selection of games and DVDs and books and also an information pack with recommendations of excellent places to visit and local restaurants/pubs/take-away. The property is within easy reach of the coast and surrounding places of interest. It is in a superb location, very relaxing and peaceful! You can park your car outside the property and the neighbours are very friendly! This is a cosy warm and relaxing cottage and I would recommend this to anyone who wishes to chill out and admire the wonderful scenery!
-
"Great place to stay."
Three lovely bedrooms, modern bathroom and kitchen with everything you could need. Fantastic location in the middle of Snowdonia with stunning scenery all round. The owners were really helpful and on call if we needed anything. We would highly recommend staying at Ty Gwynn.
-
"A very comfortable place to stay"
-
"Perfect location for walking."
Cottage was comfortable and clean with a much appreciated welcome pack on arrival. Lovely garden to sit in as we had such beautiful weather for the 2 weeks we were there. Will definitely stay there again next year
-
"The cottage was very clean and extremely well equipped."
Well done to the cleaners in these particularly difficult Covid times. The local area was beautiful with lovely walks from the cottage door.
-
"We had a lovely week staying at Ty Gwynn."
The cottage was very clean on arrival and the owner text us to ensure everything was as expected. It has a well equipped kitchen with log burner and a comfortable living room which is very cosy with the open fire. This was our first visit to North Wales, and, it certainly won’t be our last - the scenery is fantastic.
-
"The cottage was excellent."
Upon arrival the owner arranged for a small welcome pack of tea , coffee, milk, wine, and biscuits. The owner also text to ensure all was ok.
-
"From entry it felt very comfortable & homely."
On arrival we had a small very welcome pack with teabags, milk etc. We also had a wee bonus of Welsh Waffles which I absolutely loved & Welsh cakes which my mum scoffed. There was even washing up liquid, washing powder & cleaning sprays. There was a couple of bottles of hand sanitiser in the kitchen & dettol soap in the bathroom which I thought was a nice thought due to the safety measures. The kitchen is large enough for a big family to sit 6 around the table & 2 at the logburner.& was well equipped - more than enough that I had a favourite cup! There was plenty of wood & coal for both fires to keep going, though I bought 2 packs more at end of week (which I didn't use but left for the next guests). I absolutely loved the log burner which doesn't need many logs, as a few smokeless coal nuggets kept it glowing for ages. We took my 2 small Yorkie's for their first holiday to Wales & for the first time I could open the back door & know they were enclosed. Small as they are, they climbed up the stairs to the garden & ran around the top garden grass area & I could watch from the kitchen window. It was ideal hanging out my washing as we had amazing weather. There were no issues at all, we respected it like it was our own house & the owner kindly text me just in case there was any issue he could resolve whilst we were there - but there were none at all. The local shops are just a mile in the next village in Blaenau Ffestiniog & R.S McColl staff were very friendly. The Llechwedd Slate Caverns (deep mine tour) is just at the top of the hill - (I thought it was miles away). I could go on - as we had a great holiday though we were careful when we went touring about to Llandudno, Pwllheli, Porthmadog, etc. I'd couldn't recommend 'Ty Gwynn', Tanygrisiau enough to anyone looking for a quiet location to 'go home' to after touring about & it's got it's own local walks for the dogs & own small railway station.
Many thanks for your positive feedback Linda. You have been great guests. Thanks for your generosity in replacing the logs you used. We will look forward to you visiting us again sometime Property Owner

"It was everything we expected which made our stay more enjoyable"
-
"Fantastic cottage with everything you need."
Amazing location.Very attentive owner.Highly recommended .
-
"The house itself was great, clean and plenty of room."
It would be handy if there was an extra bathroom, but I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to visit Wales:)
-
"Cottage was as per pictures."
Very clean and tidy. Kitchen had a good range of cooking utensils etc. Garden was great for the dogs.
Many thanks for your positive feedback Holly. We do hope you visit us again. The cleaning team is working extra hard making sure the cottage is COVID-secure through this difficult time. Nigel Property Owner

"Nice house."
.. not great pillows and beds a bit soft but this is personal choice. Dryer didnt work which i was disappointed about as with 2 kids and a pet i would have liked to have washed and dryed wet clothes and with storage heaters you cant dry clothes over. Guttering above front door has a leak... got wet every time we entered house but according to owner its on the list to be fixed. Otherwise good position and we enjoyed our time.
Many thanks for your feed back Tracy. So glad you enjoyed your stay and liked the house and it's location. I agree it was a shame that the washer dryer didn't work during a rainy 4 day visit. I'm sure you understand that it was impossible to get it fixed over the New Years Day holiday period otherwise I would have. As I said my builder is booked to fix the drip from the guttering. I agree beds are a personal choice and take note of what you say. The mattresses were purchased as medium firm. The pillows are due to be be replaced for the new season 2020. Property Owner

"Great value in a quite location handy for many local attractions."
the Kitchen/diner is fantastic (much bigger than the photos prepared us for) & we were able to prepare a great Christmas diner as it had everything we need. Some great walks on the doorstep. Owner was extremely helpful in returning a christmas present that we left behind. highly recommended. Thanks Again

"We returned to this cottage after a lovely stay last summer, this time for 2 weeks."
On arrival the cottage was as expected, clean and welcoming (no doggy smells or dog hair!). The bedrooms were tidy and cosy, shower was fine. The kitchen is very large, plenty of room to play a game of scrabble or cards, as we did most evenings. There is an instruction book for bin emptying details and the workings of any appliances, also a book recommending days out. The garden is huge and lovely to sit in in the afternoon when the sun peeks through the trees. There are beautiful views of the mountains in town and many lovely walks to explore. We also visited the ponies over the road daily, the all brown one being friendly and running to see our dog, the brown and white is more shy. Despite the rain this time we went out every day on a walk or to visit a local attraction and looked forward to getting back and warming/ drying ourselves in front of the open fire! My sons favourite part was to light the fire and play games, our dog enjoyed sprawling out across the kitchen floor after a walk and sneaking up on the fake sheep in the garden (he thought they were real!), I personally loved seeing the bats fly over the garden as the sun went down and my Father liked to sit in the rocking chair in the kitchen with a cup of tea!
-
"The cottage was not only warm and welcoming it was very well equipped and clean, information left by the owners was very helpful the location is exactly as described."
And the local walks are excellent
-
"I appreciate that we stayed in August but I thought the cottage was overpriced for its location and what it offers."
There was also a distinct smell or something in the air when we arrived. We were a party of 5 adults who are all used to, or have our own dogs ( did not bring them with us) but the damp dog ( or possibly cat) smell in the air was palpable on arrival. The cottage was clean (apart from air) but there were some surprises (bread left from previous visitors in the freezer, dirty wine glasses in the cupboard and bulbs gone in a couple of lamps) which given the cost of renting it, should have been checked. We were also disappointed by the lack of / difficulty having enough hot water for 5 adults to shower after returning from climbing Snowdon! Again having to switch a hot water ‘booster’ on for 60 minutes first is not ok for the cost of renting this property. I think this is a sweet cottage, it is slightly fussy in decor for a holiday rental and could do with some decluttering and it is also only just big enough for five adults. I would think it more suited to 2 adults and 3 kids. Although bedroom space is fine the lounge is small and one bathroom an issue for a larger group. The saving grace was the kitchen, which was a super size. Our instructions before were clear and helpful. I have stayed in a Sykes cottage before and thought it was super, this unfortunately I was underwhelmed by and did feel disappointed considering the cost. My feedback is intended to be helpful to the owners ( changes are quick and easy to fix) and not at all intended as a rant.
Many thanks for your feedback. We love the location and the many attractions it offers, we believe the descriptions to be accurate. Unfortunately we were sent a relief cleaner for this week due to an absenteeism. The problems mentioned have been rectified and our cleaning team has been informed. Their normal high standard of service has been restored. There hadn't been any pets in the premises for a number of weeks before your visit. Bulbs do fail from time to time, and one has now been replaced. On examination the other bulb hadn't gone it was just switched off at the plug. The hot water boost is for the bath not the shower. It would be unreasonable to expect 5 baths from one cylinder of hot water. The shower though works independently providing instant hot water from the cold supply, as much as you need. Property Owner
-
"Lovely cottage, great location, very clean, cosy & well equipped."
Friendly and helpful owners.
-
"If you do not have pets then the odour in the kitchen will not please you."
Thank you for your feedback. There was a temporary issue with the cooker hood which circulated an odour which has now been resolved. Property Owner
-
"Brilliant time at Ty Gwynn ,lovely walks, scenery, good base for touring local places of interest, would certainly book Ty Gwynn again ."
-
"A lovely little citrate that you can tell is loved by its owners."
We had a wonderful time beautiful walks from the door or the cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and it was lovely from top to bottom. It is cosy and comfy. The recommendations of where to eat by the owner was spot on, the lakeside cafe and the Oakley both great and we could take our beloved dog with us.
-
"What a lovely cottage there was just 2 of us and our 2 dogs and the experience ..."
What a lovely cottage there was just 2 of us and our 2 dogs and the experience was amazing the cottage was clean and really cosy it had everything we needed for a peaceful week from our busy work lifestyle we have we were totally chilled by the end of day 2, the small village where the cottage was tucked away in was peaceful and had beautiful views in a morning from our bedroom window loved sitting by the coal fire at the evening there was coal and wood left for us to use, everything had clear instructions on how to work everything places to go couldn’t ask for more we really are looking forward to returning love it that much as did our dogs too fantastic base to get out and go for long walks with them
-
"We are a family of 5 (plus dog) and this was an idea cottage."
It is a lovely, with all modern facilities whilst maintaining the traditional feel. I spent most evenings in the rocking chair by the open fire - bliss!! The location is stunning.
-
"The cottage was exactly what we wanted in the perfect location, a great base for exploring the area."
It was very well equipped and comfortable. The kids appreciated the good quality wifi! Very good instructions and information pack provided by the owner. Your sales team was able to book the 4 night half term break I wanted at this cottage over the phone, which was brilliant because the 4 nights wasn't shown as an option on the website. We definitely hope to return!
-
"The cottage was lovely and comfy and warm."
we had great weather, would recommend.
-
"We have also booked holidays with Sykes in previous years and have always been happy with the properties we booked."
We are already thinking about next year and possibly returning to a peoperty we have stayed at twice before.
-
"Lovely little cottage, very clean and really well maintained, instructions on how to access the property and use all the facilities was really clear, Nigel the owner was very helpful and suggested several things we could although we were only there a couple of days so unfortunately didn't have much time."
The cottage is in a quiet location, parking is really easy and the cottage was ideally situated for visiting the Zip World quarry, Portmerion and all the Snowdonia has to offer. Would definitely recommend this cottage and if we're ever in that part of the world again would happily stay in Ty Gwynn.
-
"Very helpful owner who gave lots of useful instructions and details."
Plenty of room and very well equipped.
-
"Wonderful cottage."
Great facilities. Everything we needed and more - especially in the kitchen. Wood Burner & Coal fire gave a lovely warmth. Would loved to have stayed longer to enjoy area more.

"This was an absolutely lovely cottage, it had everything you could want and it was a real pleasure for a family holiday."
We loved it. When you look at a cottage on your website and scroll down to the map, it'd be great to be able to zoom in and see where it is more exactly; and when you start with the map of places to stay in an area and click through to a cottage, it'd be great to be able to go back to the map

About the location
TANYGRISIAU
Blaenau Ffestiniog 1.1 miles; Porthmadog 8 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles; Beddgelert 16 miles.
Tanygrisiau, meaning "below the steps", refers to the stepped cliffs above this traditional Welsh village. The Moelwyn mountains protect the village from much of the northerly gales in the winter, and give it a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering its location high in Snowdon. The village stands amongst dramatic scenery, and Tanygrisiau is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself. Tanygrisiau was famous for its slate mining, producing a high quality black slate that was used across the world. Tanygrisiau railway station is on the famous Ffestiniog Railway, a narrow gauge railway built to carry slate from the mines down to the sea at Porthmadog; today it is a renowned tourist attraction providing stunning views on its trip to the coast. Only 1.1 miles away is Blaenau Ffestiniog, once the capital of slate quarrying and in the 18th century known as the "City of Slate". The town stands in an elevated, natural bowl amidst this mountainous region and has a good variety of shops and pubs, but is best known for its tourist attractions. One of the old quarries is now the renowned Llechwedd Slate Cavern. The famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway provides wonderful trips through spectacular countryside. Enjoy superb walks and bike trails at Coed-y-Brenin, one of the best mountain bike centres in Britain, as well as good climbing at the Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre, wonderful sandy beaches, or great fishing or golf. Visit delightful Betws-y-Coed, the Italianate Village at Portmeirion, or Bala, with its renowned white water rafting opportunities.
