The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,
waste reduction and promoting inclusiveness. They are on a mission to become the most widely
recognised sustainability standard for holiday rentals and a catalyst to reduce emissions of holiday
lets and influence guests to reduce their own household consumption too.
Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,

"The property is in a lovely village and the area around is beautiful."
Great area for exploring and walking. The cottage is very cosy and it is very useful having such a local shop just up the road. There is no off road parking but this was never really an issue as there are parking bays down the road and spaces around. The only thing negative I would say would be that the shower although lovely and warm is not powerful, so if you like power showers you might be disappointed.

"We had a lovely 5 night stay at Bodalaw."
The cottage is very clean and has everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, only down side was the road noise, waking us up early but this would not stop us staying again. The log burner was very welcome on cold February evenings. The cottage was extremely good value and even better than we had expected. Tracie was very responsive to our messages and had good communication prior to our stay. Trawsfynydd was a great base for our numerous trips to Zip World and to explore North Wales. Thanks again Tracie and Steve, your home is lovely.

"Bodalaw is a lovely cottage, very comfortable and clean with everything you need."
The shop is very close and the pub is just at the top of the hill. The only downside is parking. There is a parking area, but it was often full and we had to find somewhere else to park. However, it wasn't really much of a problem. The area is beautiful and fairly peaceful.

"A lovely cottage, very clean and had everything we wanted including microwave slowcooker and airfryer."
Washing machine was a bonus, as spilt milk all over my jeans.
Beds were comfortable with extra bedding,
Heat could be useful although we did not use it,
The little shop seemed to stock everything and they were very helpful and pleasant.
There was not a desagnated carpooling spot we parking e eryday in the little row of car spaces 15mt from the house.
If there was one down side which no one can fix is the stairs could be a little steep for someone with mobility problems.
We had a lovely holiday Tracie and Steve hepl with the little problem we had.
we would recommend this cottage to our friends and would stay again.

"Very comfortable little cottage in the middle of the village."
The village shop was only 3 doors away and a pub serving good meals further up the hill. Beautiful views all round and it was ideally located for exploring further afield.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. There is so much to explore in the surrounding area.

It was clean and comfortable with some nice little extras which made it feel very homely. The shop is nearly next door and the pub a very short walk. The pub served good meals which were reasonably priced. It is based in a great area making it easy to explore North or Mid Wales.

Well maintained and very comfortable. Great pub just a short distance up the road. The holiday cottage is well placed as a base for some epic walks, all within a short drive. Very pleased with the cottage and facilities as well as the location. Five stars!!

"Nice location in a quiet village."
Nice cosy cottage. Local amenities are good. However I would be very of the local pub. Dreadful customer service. Got served chicken when a veg curry was ordered. We were also overcharged.
Good facilities in the cottage. However the china and cutlery needed a wash prior to use do that could be better.
There is a strong damp fishy smell in the property which hits you as soon as the door is opened. This is extremely off putting and due to this I will not recommend this place. The owners have been informed.
Thoughtfully and considerably furnished with various facilities but lacked shower gel which is provided in most self catering establishments.
The second bedroom has no window so is pretty claustrophobic.
Overall a decent stay of 3 nights.
Sorry to hear you were not totally happy with your stay.
All cutlery and crockery has now been replaced.
As for the damp smell, it transpires that the people who stayed prior to your stay had stored wet and muddy moutain bikes inside the property which is not allowed. This has now been cleaned and aired.

Local pub has a decent menu for big and little people, with big portion sizes.
Clear instructions included for everything in the house. Would definitely book again!

The property
Resting in the village of Trawsfynydd, in the heart of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, is Bodalaw, an early 19th century, stone-built mid-terrace cottage.
Retaining much of its original character, including the stone inglenook fireplace and multi-fuel stove found in the sitting room, Bodalaw has a charming and homely atmosphere, while the rear patio garden is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the countryside and mountain views in the distance.
The home also has a well-equipped kitchen/diner to dine indoors on cooler days, also complete with a washing machine for convenience.
When sleep calls, a double bedroom and a single room are on offer, both serviced by a shower room.
Once you're ready to explore, the surrounding area is ideal for a quiet Trawsfynydd cottage break, or for lovers of the outdoors, there is excellent walking, golf and birdwatching available close by, and fishing on the Trawsfynydd Lake is very popular.
Spend time at one of the beautiful beaches nearby, including Porthmadog and Llandanwg Beach, or visit Portmeirion Italianate Village for a family-friendly day out, followed by a delicious bite to eat at the favoured Castell Deudraeth Brasserie.
At the end of the day, Bodalaw is a perfect place to return to and relax.
This traditional Welsh village lies in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, and is surrounded by the Rhinog, Moelwyn and Arenig mountains. The impressive Trawsfynydd Lake, which is only a short walk from the village, is renowned for its fishing and offers a recently completed walking and cycling route around the entire lake. The village itself boasts a small variety of shops. This area is a mecca for outdoor activities including excellent water sports, climbing, walking, fishing, golf and mountain biking. The beautiful beaches at Black Rock Sands, Harlech and Barmouth are close by, as are the bustling towns of Dolgellau and Porthmadog. Visit castles, narrow gauge railways, slate and copper mines and the famous Portmeirion Italianate Village.
