  • "The property would benefit from blinds in the front bedrooms and also in the kitchen for privacy."

It would be nice to have a few throws to avoid having to put the heating on in the evening. More than 1 J cloth in the kitchen would be useful for a week's stay . The beds were very comfortable with excellent local amenities

  • "Dolphin was the perfect size for our group of 4 adults and 4 children."

The house was well equipped and the children's Play/TV room was a godsend on the days when the weather was not good. 10 or 15 minute walk to the beach and large retail park close by.

  • "We were a party of 4 adults and one dog who booked for 1 week, we've booked several cottages in Treaddur Bay over the last few years but this was our first stay in Dolphin."

The location is good even though it is away from the sea shore, several large supermarkets are just a 5 minute drive away and the beach, including several good restaurants, is just a short 15 minute walk (once you know the way across either the fields to the hotel or through the back streets to the football ground). The rear 'garden' was disappointing because it is very small and is all hard patio so the dog had nowhere to run, however it was secure and it did get the sun in the morning and early afternoon. We brought a portable BBQ and enjoyed a couple of meals outside. Inside the dining table was squeezed into the window of the small kitchen and was largely bench seating which was difficult to get in and out of (for aging adults). There was enough seating in the lounge for 8 people over 2 large saggy leather sofas and one small sofa, obviously the dining table would normally have been in there but the large sofas took up all the available space. I can't see any reason why the garage could not be converted to a dining room to give more space downstairs. In the kitchen there was plenty crockery & cutlery and there seems to be sufficient cooking utensils & pans (although we didn't use any of it). It was also nice to see a lot of spare rubbish bags and cleaning materials which are often missing from rental properties). The downstairs toilet was strange, it was accessed through a door from the kitchen and also had the back door leading to the rear garden, it almost seemed an afterthought. Upstairs the bedrooms were all a reasonable size (we didn't use the one on the top floor where there is also a play room), they were simply furnished but had sufficient storage although one had no hanging space) and the beds were fairly comfortable. The two bathrooms had good showers with plenty hot water but they need a good clean in places and the floor tiles were cracked. Wi-fi was fairly quick and seemed to cover the whole house. In general it was clean throughout and overall we enjoyed our holiday but felt that Dolphin needs some refurbishment in several areas (like the worn out kitchen floor, the frayed stair carpet, rusty radiators, towel hangers falling off etc.). With a little bit investment and thought it could be so much better. In terms of cost we thought the price for one week was very reasonable and good value for money.

Less than 10 min walk to sea & eating places. Easy access to coastal path too.

  • "This newish home is within walking distance of the village - say 15 minutes to the beach and attractions - along a pavement."

The road is a bit busy for youngsters on bikes and scooters so parental supervision required. There is a small enclosed back yard which is a bit of a suntrap and does contain a BBQ - which was not cleaned before our arrival. There was NO hairdryer supplied (that we could find) and the remote heating controller had to be fitted with new batteries. The top floor single beds, while comfortable enough, are not suitable for adults. Overall, we had a nice enough stay but Dolphin House was not good value for money, especially as the house was advertised for £1,100 less the next week when schools had returned from mid-term! A mark-up was expected but not more than double the price, surely? We were disappointed.

Thank you for your detailed feedback regarding your stay at Dolphin House. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, as it helps us improve our services and accommodation. We are glad to hear that you found the location convenient and enjoyed the proximity to the village and beach. Regarding the safety concerns on the road, we understand the importance of child safety however any child needs supervision on a bike near any road. We sincerely apologize for the oversight with the BBQ cleanliness there was never a hairdryer listed in the house inventory. As regards the battery issue we live locally, and you did not contact us to correct this. Regarding the pricing discrepancy, we strive to offer competitive rates, and prices can fluctuate based on demand and season. However, Sykes are in control of this aspect I suggest you contact them for this. Property Owner

Owners kindly replaced broken toaster quickly. Not overly dog friendly as no grass on back yard only raised bed of stones with no steps. Overall nice house in quiet cul de sac in convenient position.

  • "Great location for easy access to the beach."

The property looks a little tired in some rooms, run down radiators and carpets, kept snagging our feet on gripper. We would like to suggest a visitors book where comments could be left recommending local places to eat and drink, feedback on nearby places visited etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

  • "The Dolphin looks and feels tired and grubby from the front door to the back door."

I would not allow this property to continue on your listing. This property looks like it needs complete internal refurbishment. To be honest our first purchase when arrived were two air freshners because of the smell of grease. I have nothing to add should have known better than to let a house with Sykes. 1 out of 10

  • "We had a lovely holiday here, six adults and two young children."

The house was comfortable and clean and an ideal location for walking to the beach, as well as accessing the rest of the island. We did feel like there could have been more baking trays for the oven and also weren’t sure about the recycling provisions? But we would recommend Dolphin and thank you to the owners for a lovely stay and the kind gifts of cake and Prosecco.

  • "It was clean."

It was very basic. For the price I would’ve expected a more homely experience. Every door is a fire door which I suspect is due to regulations but a nightmare with children and dogs. The upstairs space was great but the living space is limited if you were at capacity, fortunately we were not. Garden is long and thin and not ideal for kids/dogs to have a run and play as all flagged. Short walk to the beach. Up hill on the way back but accessible with a pram. Beds comfortable and showers and bath really good. There was nothing wrong with it but we wouldn’t return due to the reasons given as the price is not competitive enough for what we have had in the area previously.

  • "We found that there was no cleaning products at all apart from one dishwasher tablet."

No cloths or sponges when hand washing pans. We found little or no amenities for our younger children so we bought a couple of toys while staying. Over all the house and stay was lovely just thought more effort could be put into the house feeling like a home and not like a hotel. Not a criticism just an observation.

Thankyou for you feed back, On top floor of the house is a dedicated children's playroom. There is a xbox with a selection of games for all ages, and children's table and chair for colouring and the like. In the living room is a Blu-ray DVD player, with a selection titles for all ages. In addition we have provided a selection of story books for slightly older children through to adults. With the beach only a short walk away, and the recent sunny weather, we think there is plenty to keep little ones entertained, and not let them draw all over the walls! Property Owner

enclosed area at the back was great for dogs... Nice touch leaving prosecco, milk and chocolate cake. more utensils in kitchen would have helped- bread knife, tupperware dishes for microwave , kitchen foil and clingfilm, had to go out and buy which we haven't in previous cottages. no big deal though and would definitely stay here again.

Plenty of space for the children. This year it was with our friends . Equally ideal with the en suite in 1 bedroom, and a toilet downstairs. Had a problem with the hot water, so rang the number provided, and it was sorted in only 15 mins. Fantastic. Would like to have more cushions in the lounge though, as 2 sofas quite deep. Are returning in September, with the family again. Thanks for the rental.
