"The Clyde is a beautiful shepherd hut, with a touch of luxury."
A comfortable & cosy living space, authentically decorated. Loved the kettle, took me back to my childhood memories. The private enclosed back garden provided shade from the sun to play. Super friendly hosts, available to make your stay perfect. Stunning view of the Welsh countryside. A tranquil location to reflect. An idyllic place to recharge body & mind. Went beyond my expectations of a shepherd hut. I will definitely recommend to my family & friends. Sad to leave but hopeful to return. Thank You Kath

"Perfect and Beautiful, We and the dogs has a wonderful long weekend for our 20th Anniversary the private garden was brilliant and safe for our 3 dogs and the log burners were a great addition."

"The property was lovely but once again Sykes have not updated the listing."
The pub within 1 mile has been a b&b for a year now! A minor point as well one mug and one teacup does not serve two people. There was no welcome pack and the notice about Covid should mean Sykes stop advertising the games and dvds that aren’t available!
Hi Joanne. So sorry the listing was correct. We have since removed the covid notice and replaced it with a general one, dvds can be found in the little craft shop My apologies re the mugs. All the very best kath & familyb Property Owner

"We had a lovely weekend at the Clyde's with our 2 dogs, the shepherds hut was lovely and in a beautiful location"

"Honest review."
Good points- + good location. Close to motorway but quiet. Snowdonia 50 minutes away. Beach 10 minutes away. Shops also nearby. + bathroom was lovely. Modern. Free standing bath. + log burner. Plenty of firework included. Heated the hut really well on cold nights. + enclosed garden was lovely for our pup to roam around! + kath was lovely and very helpful..she looked after our pup for the day so we could visit Chester zoo (definitely worth a visit!) + public footpaths on your doorstep for little walks around the area Bad points :( - not as described on the listing..states there is only 2 shepherd huts, when actually there are 5! Didn't matter too much to us as its January so not busy. However if we booked for a quiet getaway in the middle of summer, I feel I would have been very disappointed seeing so many huts there. Listing states it includes towels...we only had one bath mat left for us. Meaning we then had to go and buy towels for our stay. Kitchen is described as 'well equipped', we feel this wasn't the case. One mug and one tiny tea cup, no pint glasses, one roasting tray for oven and the frying pan wasn't bigger than my hand... we had to buy a bigger frying pan! Listing also stated dvds and games...no games were found and only 2 dvds, one of which was actually missing the disk. Having read previous reviews, it seems guests had in fact received the 'generous welcome pack' consisting of fresh eggs, bottles of bubbly, biscuits ect..we however were left just a packet of biscuits. We feel the hosts made the effort when they first started but unfortunately didn't continue. - pillows weren't to our preference- far too soft! Had to purchase another pillow as no support. Bed was also on the small side, maybe a small double? - a little curtain going across the window on the door would be good for privacy...felt uneasy sleeping knowing we could be looked at

"It was very nice and peaceful hideaway, surrounded area is beautiful sky is full of stars and also close to shops and pubs just minutes away."
Very cozy and comfy only needs the chairs the same high and the better more steady table. Katherine was very helpful and friendly she is the host N1. Will recommend to my family and friends. Thank you for amazing time we had.

"Idyllic location for rest and relaxation."
We loved the simple but modern layout of the hut and will definitely be returning in the future.

"The Shepherd's hut was exactly as described, but the views exceeded our expectations."
The hut occupies its own large enclosed grassed area which is just perfect for any visitor, but even more so for those with a dog or two. The setting is very quiet and no traffic noise can be heard, just birdsong. The hut is well equipped given the space restrictions and very warm and cosy with hot water available on-demand. The bathroom is just fantastic.

"Lovely stay, will definitely be back."
-
"The accommodation was just as described, and in a quiet location, with room for our dog Reggie to wander around freely."
Plenty if wood and ki doing supplied, so that we could light the indoor or outdoor burners whenever we wanted. We would recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway, not too far from lots of lovely beaches and walks.

"Will be going back"

"A wonderful break."
The hut was cosy and had everything that was needed. So lovely having a bath in the lovely big bath with great view. The outside space really made it, we had BBQ's and sat out until after dark in front of the burner..... just wonderful and we will be back

"What was there not to love?"
From the second we arrived to the moment we left Kath was an amazing host! Every little detail has been thought of in these cute and cosy huts! Right down to a wine glass holder in the bathroom! An absolute perfect break away with our fur babies! We’re definitely going back! Central for so many areas- beach, hills, towns and castles!!

"This is our second visit to the Shepherds Hideaway and the Clyde's hut is just as great as the original Shire hut."
Kath is a wonderful host, nothing is too much trouble and the welcome treats upon arrival (fresh eggs from Kath's chickens, a bottle of something nice and homemade shortbread) are fantastic. The hut has everything you need and is enclosed which was perfect for our dog staying with us. Although not far from the NW expressway the area is lovely and peaceful, a hideaway as described. We will happily stay again - thank you Kath!
-

"My husband and dog Rosie spent a wonderful Christmas period at The Cyldes!"
The owner Kath was very friendly and kind and made our stay so special. We were made to feel very welcome and loved eating the deliciously fresh duck and chicken eggs from her own birds on her small holding. The location of this hut is great,- only a short drive to the beautiful hills of Snowdonia and Clywd and close to the lovely historic towns of Conwy, Bangor and Denbigh (Conwy has some wonderful ice cream parlours and lovely little boutiques too!) The hut itself has a warm and cosy feeling with a log burner and deep victorian rolled edge bath to soak in after a day of hiking. Our dog Rosie loved playing in the enclosed land and we adored watching the many birds, horses, sheep and other wildlife that the area boasted. We will definitely look at staying at this little gem off the beaten track again! Thank you so much Kath and family for a happy and memorable Christmas 2018!

"Sykes had the description absolutely correct, but what made my holiday 100% better was the lovely host Kath, who went the extra mile in many ways."
The added touches of things i may have forgotten to take were there, (tea, coffee, milk), then there was the others, which I won't spoil for anyone going to stay. There was more than enough fuel for the log burner, water was lovely and hot too. I took my German SHEPHERD Pearl, to a SHEPHERD hut that is situated only 12 miles from my home, and we LOVED it. Wanted to stay longer. Thank you Kath for your attention to detail. You are marvellous and we will see you again definitely! x
-
"We’ve never had a bad experience with Sykes but this is by far the best experience we have had."
The hideaway was perfect to get away from the stress of everything. The owner made such an effort from welcoming us to being on hand for any questions or problems we had. We will definitely be back!
-
"The owners were very welcoming with some extra special touches waiting in the shepherds hut on my arrival."
The hut was just as described on the website. Enjoyed my stay immensely and the dogs had plenty of room to run around in the fenced area surrounding the hut. Will definitely return hopefully in the future and stay for longer.
-
"Our host for the week Kath was very friendly, helpful and offered if we needed, to look after our dog Maxi for us."
Maxi had a wonderful time, plenty of room to run around and lie down whenever he pleased. The Clydes is very comfortable I am 6ft 3 and not once did I feel cramped. The hut is very comfortable, my partner who feels the cold actually had to open the windows one evening as she was too hot! We didn't use the wood burner but we did use the small electric radiator one evening when the temperature dropped. The kitchenette has more than enough space to cook, although my partner pointed out it would have been easier to prepare things if there was a board across the sink. We loved the wine and welsh cakes that were left for us and the notelet was the icing on the cake. The bathroom my partner said is 'to die for' sheer luxury in other words! Cleaning ones teeth in a morning and watching the birds at the bird feeder was an added pleasure, we even saw a woodpecker one day. We felt very much at home, more a house guest than a paying guest. It was a shame that the pub within walking distance was closed, instead we drove into St Asaph and ate a few of our meals at The Talardy Hotel (Which we can both thoroughly recommend too). Kath and The Clydes made our holiday effortless we were very sorry to leave.
-
"Our second visit to the Clydes at Shepherds Hideaway, and even better than the first!"
Kath was welcoming, friendly and very helpful and the cabin was just as clean, comfortable and homely as we remembered! Perfectly placed for quiet relaxation and a great spot for days out, we're hoping to make our trips to the Clydes an annual occurrence, at least!
-

-
"We wanted a relaxing weekend and allowing the puppy dog to roam freely -out of harms way."
The Shepherds Hut did this for us. We found this setting perfect for our requirements. The wildlife, especially the woodpeckers, was lovely, the sound of the birds singing in the mornings, eating breakfast outside , was very relaxing.
-
"Free fresh laid chicken eggs any day or time, free dog sitting and secured area for my dog to run around in."
On arrival free bottle of bubbly and Welsh Cakes, jam and lovely clotted cream. Fresh clean towels, DVDs basically very homely stay and the farm was secluded, quiet which was perfect for a relaxing getaway.
-
"The person who owned the property took the time to enquire if we where ok when there was the unexpected snowfall."
-
"We had a great time, the Hut is exactly as described, nice and cosy, and with the fire going it was easy to forget we were in Wales in March."
