I would like to say cottage was warm and comfortable
BUT
no welcome pack as the owner said they didn't no we were coming to stay ( very laughable) WiFi well I don't no what to say don't bother with it
( we live in the countryside ours is slow but this was horrendous)
One day no WiFi rung owner said the RCD had tripped in the owners house it does it when it rains sometimes omg
Outside was very disappointing scruffy and the back was the same
I was cleaning up dog poo what did not belong to my dogs
The wooden steps were very slippy with the green moss had to pour boiling water on the steps
No info for TV cooker shower have to rember everyone technical gadgets all different
Took us a hour to work tv
Cooker all symbols are different to my fan oven nightmare
Shower Took a bit to work out the water is very hot no caution notice to warn you
(As we all no when we are in our own homes temp is set for the hot water )
No info to say they was a kick board heater in kitchen only found out has we were reading other reviews ( not everyone knows what a kick board heater is to me it looks like some kind of vent system) had to move kettle when I was there kept hitting my head on the cooker hood
The wooden doors into garden from the kitchen was very hard to open and lock
The hover was pretty terrible no suction only when you took the head off

"Despite the weather we enjoyed our stay."
The safe garden was enjoyed by our dog. Cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped. Great place to explore the area, we particularly enjoyed Loggerheads country park.

"Lovely property, just as described on the website."
Kitchen clean and tidy with plenty of crockery and cutlery (and a very delicious cake!). Living room was spacious and very comfortable but wifi was very slow (1Mbps download) and this also affected using the tv. Bathroom was clean and compact. Double bedroom was comfortable but bed only accessible from one side. Single bed was a bit hard. Road is narrow and seems to be used as a bolt hole - it is better to access the property from the Mynydd Isa side. Great location for visiting North East Wales and Chester.

"A very cosy cottage set in a tranquil location."
Close to shops and easy access to major roads. Parking was a little difficult as owners had a motor home parked up close to the property but as long as passenger in our car directed driver it was managable. It was important to always have two people in hand when entering and exciting as gate needs to be kept closed and the road is narrow and close to blind corners. Plenty of easy access walks near by and very dog friendly.
Inside the rental there was everything you needed for a comfortable stay and owners on hand if needed.

"A very peaceful and relaxing cottage set in rural hillside farmland."
The garden is dog safe and has a lovely sun-trap area, with outdoor furniture and lawn. Everything you need is here, in this well equipped and very clean and tidy cottage. A bonus is that you can park and unload your vehicle, right by the front door! There are plenty of books, games and DVD's if needed. We had a very comfortable stay indeed. Thankyou.

"Very nice cottage."
Good location. very dog friendly . Well equipped.
Only criticism is that the double bed can only be accessed from one side, due to the room size, which would make it difficult for a couple with mobility problems.

"A lovely cottage, off the main road just half a mile."
Quiet and relaxing, all facilities catered for (Fab!). A nice enclosed garden for the Dog, might want to just reinforce the fencing between the cottage and next door, our medium sized dog may have breached the gap (if she had a mind to!).
A different area of Wales for us but so much to see within a very short
distance. Thank you. Adele & Tony Overton + Anna x

"Chris and Barbara did everything they could to make us welcome and comfortable."
We stayed Christmas and New Year with them and were delighted to find the steading tastefully decorated for Christmas. They had left us milk, tea/ coffee and a delicious cake perfect after an 8hr drive. Garden and yard secure, wonderful walks with our dogs, yet close enough to major supermarkets.

"Overall the property was well presented."
The kitchen, bathroom and lounge were well presented and adequately furnished. There were only three plates, bowls, etc it would be nice to have a few more to use.
The location is also great for exploring the local area, we visited Chester, Wrexham and the North Wales coast with ease. Buckley and Mold are on the doorstep and have plentiful shops, takeaways etc.
The flooring is a nice wooden finish. However, we found the floor to be very noisy/creaky to walk on, something to bear in mind if you have little ones sleeping.
Also, there is a large gate leading to a country lane, which is to be kept closed. You have to open and close it yourself to get the car in and out. We found this quite tricky, especially leading directly onto a small lane, and feel that this should be reflected in the property description.
The owners leave you to yourself, and we did not feel overlooked, however they are contactable via a telephone number.
We discovered that the double bed had been broken by previous occupants. We contacted the owners and they fixed the bed the best they could that day. However, it was not a perfect fix, and I would expect the bed would need replacing.
On the Tuesday of our stay, we were also notified that a gas engineer was going to turn up to service the boiler at approx. 11am the following day. We were not entirely comfortable with this, however we agreed. On the day of the service, the engineer turned up at 9am! Not ideal when you’re on holiday. We had booked the holiday well in advance, and feel this could have been organised for changeover day or an empty week so not to disturb peoples holidays.

"We had a great stay at Burnt Oak Stables."
The cottage is well equipped and spacious and suited our needs for the week. Lovely touches from hosts such as cake on arrival and bowls and bedding for the dog! The cottage is situated close to Buckley and Mynydd Isa - walking distance - which was perfect as we have family nearby and could get to visit them easily. Local amenities good too - we visited The Griffin for a lovely Sunday roast and love The Rise cafe for fresh baked goods and a cuppa - both dog friendly. We will definitely be re-booking for next year. Thank you for a lovely stay

"I would strongly recommend staying at Burnt Oak Stables."
We (2 adults, 1 child, 2 pets) had a wonderful week staying there in North Wales. A very good location to visit North Wales, Wirral and NW England. A trip to the tranquil nature reserve Hilbre Island (off West Kirby, Wirral) and the ancient (>1300 years old) sacred St Winefried's well shrine (Holywell) were the highlights. We also visited Manchester for the day easily. St Winefried's well is one of the best pilgrimage sites that I have visited including a spring, a bathing pool for total immersion in the well water is present and a museum / exhibition area with some relics including a fragment of the cross. Interesting to visit for its historic and spiritual value. Also some nice walks and a ruined monastry within short walking distance from the well. There are many local places including 2 ruined castles (Flint and Ewloe) (free entry) that we would have liked to visit as well and many good walks that would take much more than a week to complete; so more than enough to do in a week. There are good opportunites for walks from the cottage including public footpaths nearby. The location is peacefully, the property backing onto a field with sheep in it. The owners were friendly and respectful. The cottage (barn conversion) has been done to a high standard with a modern bathroom including a good shower and a modern kitchen. It may be worth bringing some stainless steel pans / pots unless you are happy using teflon pans, which were on the smaller side. Beds were comfortable and the living room was very nice. A very big collection of DVDs and CDs is there which we did not have time to use but could be of interest. Many thanks to the owners for arranging the cottage.

"The property literally has eveything you can think of including a coffee machine and washer/dryer."
Everything seems really new and fresh.
We stayed for NYE as our older dog is frigthened of fireworks and this was far enough away for us to not to be impacted by them.
We briefly met Chris, the owner, who offered lots of good advice. Overall the cottage is lovely and well presented. I would suggest the property would benefit from window coverings to the hall windows as they look directly out to the owners property. Would offer a bit of privacy.
