  • "This property has the potential to be fabulous but a couple of things let it down."

The towels provided were very basic, small, thin and hard. These could be replaced easily. The mattress in the front bedroom was uncomfortable and added with the very low height of the bed, made this an unpleasant sleep for one of the guests. The rear extension to the property is so lovely and such a nice space to be in. It would have been great if you had a small sofa or couple of soft chairs to sit and relax in this room rather than just the large dining table. One bed, the sofas, and the toilet are very low in height. I think you should make this clear in your property description as it is difficult for someone with mobility issues to transfer with low heights, e.g. getting in and out of the bed, on and off the sofa, and on and off the toilet. The location is great and close to everything we wanted to experience. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay but the issues mentioned above would put me off returning.

Sorry to hear your concerns, it’s a shame you didn’t raise them when you first arrived as we have a toilet riser and bed riser that we could have provided., The sofa is very much normal height but is deep, there is plenty of cushions. My wife has had mobility issues and if you’d flagged this or raised concerns when you first arrived we could have made a few adjustments. The cottage is typical of its type and isn’t well suited to wheelchairs or reduced mobility unfortunately. We were in contact with you during the stay and it’s really unfortunate you didn’t raise your concerns then as we could have helped. Property Owner

The cottage was clean and tidy with all that we needed. Wonderful cottage in a lovely location to explore the North Yorks Moors.

  • "This is a super cottage, newly decorated and furnished in a high-quality modern style."

The beds are comfortable and the location is in a quiet, pretty village. It is suitable for one or two couples or those with an older child. Although on one level, it is not suitable for wheelchair users due to a very narrow bathroom. The rest of the cottage is spacious, though. We found the Wifi signal was a bit up and down, possibly due to the location. It would be good to have a few more instructions in the property in the information folder on things like bin connections, recycling etc. I'm sure this will be rectified in due course. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend wholeheartedly.

Thanks for the lovely feedback. With regard to bin collection and recycling details these are included in the welcome text, there also wasn’t a bin collection the week of your stay. I’ll look to add recycling details to the welcome pack as further reference. We never had any issues with Wi-Fi but as we have just changed supplier I’ll check all is ok and there’s no lose connection etc. Happy you enjoyed your stay and thank you for leaving cottage so tidy Property Owner

  • "We booked a last minute stay at Griff Lodge for 7 nights and we couldn't fault it."

The owner was in contact to let us know how to get in the property and any other help we needed whilst we were there. It was a very comfortable homely property with comfortable beds (which are hard to come by in my experience) We loved the dining area with bi-folding doors giving us that feeling of being outside whilst eating meals. It really was a lovely, quiet base for us to explore the surrounding areas with our 2 children and we didn't want to leave when our stay was over!

Thanks for the lovely feedback, we try hard to make sure the cottage is clean and comfortable and It’s always nice to know guests enjoyed their stay. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a lovely village, only a few miles from Helmsley and a supermarket."

Very peaceful and relaxing, the pub is within easy walking distance. We appreciated the Owner's mention that the transmitter for the television and radio was out of action due to a fire so we had no TV, however in the main room, there was a fire stick connection. So all was not lost watched lots of catch-ups. Just one recommendation the front bedroom would benefit greatly by the addition of a small set of drawers and a mirror. also, a little landscaping to disguise the oil tank. These are not critiques as we had a lovely time.

Many thanks for your feedback and I have now put a side table with drawers and a mirror in, thank you for the suggestion. Thank you for understanding that the local TV transmitter was outside my control. Regarding the oil tank, we take safety very seriously and for this reason regrettably the oil tank cannot be covered, but we do hope that the peaceful garden makes up for this. Property Owner

Easy contact with the owners and the property was ready earlier than expected. New towels and a bath mat would be my only feedback to make a future stay perfect . Thank you

  • "Felt the cottage was not as clean as I would have liked."

Oven needed a good clean. Lacking in some basics- only half a toilet roll, no kitchen roll, welcome pack consisted of a bottle of water, no logs for the log burner (most places provide an initial supply). On the plus side, good TVs and CD players, beds fairly comfortable, pretty front garden. Would have liked to be able to adjust the heating ourselves instead of having to contact the owner to do it remotely. Lacking decent table and chairs in the back garden. Back garden could do with improving. Fabulous dining room with bi-fold doors looking on to a lawn edged with weeds and an ugly oil tank! Could be improved with not a lot of effort or money. Just saying...

Thanks for your feedback, this is the first time letting our cottage and we only started in June 2020 so you are one of the first few guests. Appreciate your feedback and you’ve highlighted some points that we have given attention to. The welcome pack is a bit more comprehensive and we make sure there’s a new toilet roll and kitchen roll for every booking and some logs in the winter. The welcome pack has water, tea, coffee, long life milk and crisps. The advert has now been updated to clarify that a fuel starter pack is available for the logburner from October to April. I'm glad you appreciated the amenities and that the beds were comfy. The heating does have a manual thermostat control at the property for temperature and an on/off setting, but of course guests can also send me a text if they prefer me to alter it for them remotely, I am always happy to help. I have also added some more chairs and cushions to the garden area. The oil tank regrettably can't be covered and apologies if on this occasion the lawn area had grown quicker than usual. • "Lovely cottage in a fabulous location being so close to The Star Inn and The Pheasant, the only thing I would recommend is some comfortable outside seating in the garden, the wether was glorious whilst we were there but nowhere to sit outside in the sun apart from a wooden bench, a recommendation rather than a criticism!"

    !!

Thanks for the feedback, we’ve placed additional seating and cushions in the rear garden as well as a bench in the front. Happy you enjoyed your stay Property Owner
