  • "Although the property was nice enough, I went for a break and some quiet time, I was up every morning to watch the sun rise only to be greeted with the noise of the well in the front garden which was very loud and off putting, as well as the cars from the road directly outside."

There was also no room for rubbish, we had a small bin in the back garden but nowhere to put a weeks worth or rubbish anywhere. The double bed upstairs was very uncomfortable and there was not enough lighting in that room.

!!!so this was a waste! Also this with stripping the beds when u have payed that amount of money to go and then at the end of Ur stay you are doing somebody else's job is a joke!

All the rooms are well thought out, we enjoyed the open plan aspect of the kitchen/ dining room/ lounge, and all our needs were catered for. The kitchen was well equipped, and the rear gardens nice too. We had one little hiccup during the week which was dealt with by the owners promptly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property if you are thinking of staying in the area. Thanks for a great week, on behalf of the six of us.

Situated in a great location to explore the East Coast, we made the best of visiting local beaches and towns despite the wet weather!! As a three-generation family staying together, we really appreciated the ensuites to each bedroom and The Barn was lovely and clean with plenty of space for us all. Our girls also enjoyed the outdoor space, swings and treehouse. Would recommend.

  • "The Barn is a fabulous property with everything you could need and such welcoming owners."

The only problem we had as a rather tall family, all well over 6ft, was that all the beds had foot ends on them ! Unfortunately this made it rather difficult to get comfortable and one of the guests had to put his mattress on the floor to get a better nights sleep another slept on the sofa. This is by no means a complaint just something to be aware of if you are booking for a ‘tall’ group !

Well kitted out kitchen, lounge area great for a large group. A real plus having en suites in each bedroom. All beds very comfy.Good position for using as a base. Great having the bus route right outside the door. Even though the barn is on a main road, we weren't trouble with the traffic noise. Host seemed very nice, but had no reason to call on him as everything was absolutely fine. Would have no hesitation on booking he barn again, and recommending to family and friends.

Thank you. So pleased you found the buses handy. We have now finished decorating the bedrooms and hope you like them if we see you again. regards Ian Property Owner

We met the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The only thing i would suggest is to have chairs instead of benches at the kitchen table which we found a bit uncomfortable but its a small point and as a group we would recommend a stay here it is a great place for a holiday.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We have taken your suggestions on board and replaced a bench with comfortable chairs. Thank you for the heads up. Kind regards, Ian Property Owner

The supermarket in Staithes has an ample offer of groceries. All in all, an ideal spot to completely refuel and refresh. About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
