We really enjoy it and its location is great for eating out in Guisborough. Excellent for dog walking.

  • "Great property it was our first time at Westgate but I wouldn’t hesitate to return."

House is in a great location, we had no problem parking near to the property, parking permit supplied by the owners. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped the owners have thought of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Bed very comfortable, lovely towels and bedding. The bathroom is amazing and also the hot tub is a bonus and lovely after a day out walking. All in all a great place to stay can’t wait to return.

I think that the parking restrictions could be explained more in the listing, same as the rules for the dogs in the garden/hot tub area. Despite the above this was a lovely place to stay and we really enjoyed our time here

Loved the house, children loved the bathroom. In a fab location, little bits of street noise but nothing to put you off having a great time. You can walk out the door and get anything you need from the street. Half an hour away from whitby. Would recommend this to anyone. We had an action packed weekend and enjoyed the hot tub at the end of the day. Cleopatra,s takeaway is a must. Cant wait to come back here. Thanks to danny and nicki for a lovely weekend and for letting us stay in your lovely house xx

We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will consider us again in the future! Property Owner

  • "We had a nice stay up until we were leaving when the cleaner arrived early and stood on the front door step waiting for us to leave."

Very intimidating and meant we couldn't have a check round the property to make sure all was OK. .we were then charged an over the top amount for "additional cleaning". At 20 per hr it would take 7 hrs of cleaning to get to the amount we were charged. We disputed that anyway as I had done a thorough clean of the kitchen before we left so she didn't even need to clean that. Such a scam and we will never be using you again.

Thank you for giving your view on the situation. From our perspective we were very disappointed to see the state in which your party left the property. Whilst we understand that guests will of course leave the house in a state that is to be cleaned, what our cleaners found and documented to us was far beyond anything we, or they as a professional cleaning company, consider to be reasonable. Unfortunately, we have been unable to fully recover the additional cleaning, linen and damaged item replacement cost resulting from your stay which ran to far more than your good housekeeping bond. • "Beds were particularly comfortable and the dining room was a lovely place to eat as a family."

The hot tub was fantastic and the owners went out of their way to resolve any technical difficulties we experienced. Whilst there was some noise on the Saturday night with the live music, from the pub across the road this was not experienced the rest of the week. The welcome hamper was a nice touch on arrival. For an advertised dog friendly accommodation strange choice of flooring in the garden. Possible gate at end of seating area/edge of bar to separate from hot tub. A washing line would also be handy. Clearer instructions regarding recycling and check out would be useful. Parking was difficult at times and the van in front of the property didn’t move all week!

Thank you very much for the great and constructive feedback. We really value hearing about how we could continue to improve on the accommodation and facilities at the house. Property Owner

Guisborough itself is a great location, so many shops and bars. The Priory is interesting and Guisborough forest is amazing, best bacon sandwich in years! The pub opposite is noisy, you definitely need to consider this if you’re a light sleeper, we may have been unlucky because the weather was fantastic when we stayed and that probably contributed to people being out late.

How was in an ideal location with plenty to do on your doorstep from a park to walk the fog to pubs, cafes, shops and historical places. Messaged the owners to pass info on and they were very friendly and responded quickly. People have left reviews about parking being an issue however with the permit we were able to park outside the house on a daily basis without an issue. It may be diffrent during summer months but wasn't an issue during our stay. Would highly recommend a stay here and would book again. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Leanne Ricky and Freya (the dog)

It is really tastefully decorated , furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Modern but also in keeping with the age of the cottage. The bathroom is brilliant and so relaxing loved the lighting around the bath. The shower was also excellent. The icing on the cake with this property was the hot tub . It was absolutely fantastic to relax in after an afternoon out walking with the dog. The whole back yard was really well thought out with benches artificial grass and colour changing lighting . Although NOT mentioned in Sykes description a parking permit is provided by the owner, it is on the sideboard in the dining room. This made parking easy most evenings we were able to park right outside. Guisborough itself is a lovely town with really friendly people. It has everything you could possibly need, Aldi,Lidl, Sainsburys , M&S and independent shops, pubs including Wetherspoons, restaurants, multiple takeaways all within easy walking distance from the cottage. We particularly liked Shurovi Indian takeaway / restaurant. Danny the owner is a really nice genuine chap and he will go all out to make your holiday at Westgate enjoyable and one to remember. I can’t recommend this cottage enough and will definitely be returning. Thank you Danny for a wonderful stay.

For example ,dark carpets and easy to mop kitchen floor. The outdoor space having astro turf leading to the hot tub is practical and easy to maintain. Having heavy curtains as well as blinds in the double bedroom made it dark to sleep well. The bed was comfortable. Further to various comments in the guest feedback book at the accommodation, the twin room blinds did not make the room dark to sleep. Therefore having dark curtains as an extra layer would be beneficial. It was useful having instructions for the TV which had been suggested by previous guests and actioned by the owners. We found the facilities to be relaxing with everything we needed supplied as listed.

Nice places to walk in the area town was nice lovely shops and eating places and pubs to drink. The only negative we had which was not the property or its fault parking is restricted. We parked when we arrived in the next street Cleveland Street less than five minutes . About the location

GUISBOROUGH

Saltburn-by-the-Sea 6 miles; Staithes 13 miles; Whitby 21 miles.

Guisborough is an attractive market town set in rural surroundings on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Steeped in history, Guisborough is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the town's most notable feature is the beautiful ruined abbey, Gisborough Priory; standing in full glory, to its original height of 97 feet, the dramatic gothic east gable towers high over the market town and has become a well-known icon of the town. This bustling small town has twice-weekly market days, a good selection of eateries, excellent pubs and many independent shops. Around Guisborough sits the spectacular woodland of Guisborough Forest. Guisborough Forest & Walkway is situated in Pinchinthorpe on the outskirts of Guisborough at the northern end of the A173. It extends for 2.5 miles along part of the route followed by the old Guisborough Branch Railway line, heading west towards Nunthorpe, and east to Guisborough Forest, which is managed by Forest Enterprise. It is a gateway site to the North York Moors National Park and offers splendid views of Roseberry Topping to the south. Points of local interest include Highcliff Nab and Hanging Stone. Captain Cook 92s Monument is also within walking distance. The Cleveland Way and the Tees Link walks pass through Guisborough Forest, and are just two of the many walking routes easily accessible to visitors. This super country park has cycle trails, walking routes, bridleways, a trim trail and an easier sculpture trail. The park includes the Guisborough Walkway which runs along the former trackbed of the Middlesbrough to Whitby railway line. This includes a wetland area with boardwalks, woodlands and grasslands. You can also climb Highcliff Nab for fabulous views of Teeside and the coast. The park is also very popular with mountain bikers with a number of super trails to explore. There is an excellent visitor centre with full details of all the trails in the park. The long distant trail of the Cleveland Way passes close by, whilst nearby Roseberry Topping is well worth the climb to take in the spectacular views. An easy thirty minute drive brings you to the Heritage Coastline, with historic villages and resorts, including Staithes, Saltburn and Whitby to enjoy.
